Alina Zagitova

Alina amazes me everytime with her mental strength. She looked so tired at the beginning but to put out a performance like that... Wow. The placement doesn‘t matter in the end because she showed her amazing personality, strength and determination again and this is all that‘s important. She still has every chance in the world to win in the FS and I think she‘ll use it. She can still come out on top and I still believe she will. (I can‘t explain why, just a feeling) But even if she doesn‘t? Who cares? She doesn‘t have to win all the time. She is graciously in defeat and a wonderful performer, whatever happens in the FS. Go, Alina!! Just do your best and everything will be great! We‘re all proud of you!!

She surely is strong mentally. Otherwise she wouldn t have coped with Eteri's training regime and for so many years. Tarakanova said in the last interview that she was often expelled from the group because she couldn t focus when she had to.
 
yes - Alina does not have to win all the time - she is amazing skater who is doing excellent job adapting to her new situation (olympic champion pressure, new body, specialists form russian figure skating world etc);
 
Well, Alina is the champion of the SP in my heart. She is so good :luv17:
She's a seasoned competitor too and I think that will serve her well going into the free

it was a bad idea to fly into Vancouver only two days before major competition. Especially when your man opponent does a triple axel and is well-rested.

She did okay. But okay is not good enough when your main rival does 3A and is hunting you for all intents and purposes. hoping Alina can deliver big time in the free skate.

Let me ask you all this that Alina zagitova show up only two days before the Olympics? Probably not. There is a lesson to be learned here for her.

No one lives just for one competition (not even one season). Remember that Alina's goal is not to win everything but deliver clean skate and persuade that she is not one-time miracle. She is just 16 and she has many seasons ahead, she is training the hardest elements also, it's just not necessary to rush it and starting to put it into programs now. Yes, there are some people who start to claim she is no longer a champion if she will be "only" a silver, but their opinion doesn't mean anything.

And what EdRoz have said is true. she has learned that she learned how to lose without losing the grace already.

I think people are talking not about her coming second to Rika, but that she should have arrived earlier. That's what they mean 'not ok' (at least, that's my reading)

Mate, Alina is in 2nd not because she was tired and did bad. She's behind because the Japan lady threw a well executed 3A and managed to pull through the rest of the program. There isn't much Alina could do than just skate clean and she did it. Upping the TES doesn't happen overnight, sometimes it doesn't happen at all after they are post puberty. I don't understand what people expected her to do :scratch2: And may I just add that the press conferance was one of the worst I have ever seen. Journalists kept trying to make her say that you know..she skated badly because she was intimidated by Rika's scores. I'm glad she didn't answer some of those questions :palmf: I watched the conference before knowing the results because it popped on my facebook and I thought at first that she had bombed her SP from all the fuss about her coming 2nd after the SP :noshake:

Thank you for putting it into perfect perspective for all those doomsayers. Having worthy rivals is something which inspires, not intimidates, Alina. And she is not one of those who say (unrealistically) that only winning is good enough. Indeed, she has always said what she wants most is to produce a good skate that satisfies herself, her coaches and her fans and supporters. :agree2:

Zhenya and Alina (and some other skaters, I believe) were preparing in Japan before (and during) OG. The team knows what the timeshift is. But It is not so rare to arrive just before the competition. Like on Rostelecom there were japanese and other girls who also arrived shortly before competition and we could find it in the whole GP series.
 
Its so funny how some thread in this forum even twitter will explode with toxicity just because Alina was overtaken by a japanese, the GPF wasn't even finish its really funny, gladly Alina was advised to stay away with social media some people really has no compassion or whatsoever, just the fact that Alina still continue to fight after a successful olympic season is enough for us fans, i feel sorry for alina and even zhenya that they have to go through all this at a very young age.
