Alina Zagitova

I don't know who Utkin is, but I can understand (although I don't agree with the exact words he used) why he said what he said

Wasn’t Slutskaya the one who threw her bronze medal in the trash because she lost to Arakawa at Torino Olympics? :rolleye:

She isn’t exactly an example of sportsmanship so it doesn’t surprise me at all.

I think that was just a rumor.
She probably deserves the benefit of the doubt on that one.

I always liked her as a competitor.

I don't care about her opinion on who should have got the silver.
But the overall tone of the interview was very dismissive of Alina.
And that to me is agenda driven.

Well they also wanted someone else to win the OG. And they didn't get their way then and I don't believe they will get it now. No matter what they try to do in the media (Looking at you Ari Zakarian).

But it's an interesting question. Who benefits financially in the long run from a negative outcome for Alina? (Nothing personal, just money.)

Zakarian was Plushenko's manager that he won money off of betting that Alina would win the Olympics, no?

No one benefits from Alina losing. But like lesnar001 said, they could benefit from another skater winning.

Clickbait media articles aren't reality. It's an attempt to control perception. Whatever performance the skaters put down on the ice at Nats, that's the only reality that writes the script.

All Alina can do is go out there and kill it on the day.

That's right. It is all noise, but it must be a distraction.

Who knows, maybe it backfires on them.
Usually an angry competitor is a fearless one.

I am a Zagidiot and proud of it.
You must be too, since you are posting here.
Welcome to the club.
Happy hour starts in 38 minutes!!!! :cheer:

They have good interviews and sometimes they have something worthwhile to say but other times it just exhausting.

Unless those interviews are with salty North American coaches/choreographers. Looking at you Tom Dickson and Doug Haaw. Those were some of the most disgusting "well-meaning discussions" these two old gossipmongers have done in recent memory, all in the name of fair and balanced commentary, of course.

Alina is an Olympic champion. News titles can not and will never be able to change that. And nobody through these titles can't get what he lost :roll5: (okay, I know that they tried to play this double-gold game :rolleye: by April/May ... but we know that fairytales are not stronger side of Russian literature). It's time for some people to realize that something has been lost forever. But really forever..... :console:

What? The Tale of Tsar Saltan, for the start (Pushkin)? The Snow Maiden? Ruslan and Lyudmila? Kashchey the Deathless? Well, russian fairytales were among my favourites

Well, I was thinking of: Russian tragedies vs Russian fairytales :scard8:

- Who the hell is Utkin? Is he a relevant person?

No, he is irrelevant. He just wants to stir up trouble.

- What is Russianuts? lolol
Russian Nationals. They're coming up soon and we are all excited to see Alina defend her title.

Thank you for sharing your story of Alina at the Olympics. I'm glad Alina has her coaches and volunteers like you to watch over her.

Alina's EX is fire. And she looks like Lara Croft. Love the ending. I hope she skates to this kind of music for a competitive program. It totally suits her skating and on-ice personality.

You speak about literature or real life?

...about literature. And I'm not talking about quality vs. quality, but quantity (well, that's perhaps my personal impression, which I got from the educational system) .. and whatever, I think after the OG there were many fairytales (statement) about 2 golden girls, and in fact only one is gold! That's Alina.

I know what is Russian Nationals but I didn't know that it was known as ''Russianuts'' as well!

You're welcome! These international events are very well organized and they give extra attention to minors. She is in good hands. :agree:

Hello everyone! Thank you for the warm welcome, and hello patee from Hungary! So nice to see fans from so many different countries!

OMG Alina is such a cutie speaking in English. She seems to pronounce very well (at least in those few seconds we heard lol). I wonder if she got that tutor she said she was considering? Or maybe she´s just learning by speaking with so many different skaters at competitions. The EX was just a joy to watch. For me she just keeps improving and gaining more confidence with each new competition.
After reading the translated interview I just have to wonder how can this 16 year old young girl be so wise for her age. Her answers are so polite and she seems to be such a kind young girl, with great sportsmanship and respect for other skaters. I can only imagine how hard it must be for all these young skaters, especially for Alina, to try to balance everyday life problems, which we all have, with all the pressure that comes with being number one in your country and the whole world. Its´hard for older athletes, who are nowhere near good as her in their sports, so it must be hard for her too.
Thanks so much for the translations! I am considering learning Russian someday. See? Alina inspires people not only for sports, but also for other things in life. I am very proud of being her fan.

Does someone know when they are going back to Russia?
