Alina Zagitova

indeed the whole nation rested on her shoulders
Nicely phrased! :luv17:

It just occured to me from my favourite TV-series "Merlin" - "In a land of myth and a time of magic, the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy..."

Alina is like Merlin!

Are you saying that Alina has different eyebrows??

Right around the time Alina got Masuru she had her eyebrows micro-bladed while visiting her hometown. The reaction to this was dramatic to say the least. People were complaining about her eyebrows from multiple countries in different languages all over different websites and social media. I think some people were more upset by her micro-bladed eyebrows than back-loading, tutus, tights over the boots, skating to warhorses, music cuts and Inflated PCS, all combined.

It was a very tense few days. Then she got Masuru and that was all anyone cared about. Then her eyebrows returned to normal. (It was just micro-blading ftlog, not a permanent tattoo.) The Great Eyebrow Drama of 2018 has been largely forgotten but I still like to bring it up because it was just so ridiculous! #NeverForget.

Ohh THOSE eyebrows  I forgot she went through that eyebrow phase. Yeah we do not speak of those eyebrows anymore lol

Lol I did not even know about this drama. Omg. For microblading? Smh. Microblading is such a normal procedure nowadays why so much drama. I love her brows. Did not even notice they are microbladed. The person she went to sure did a great job at making them look natural. Also microblading just lasts 1-2 years. Why so much drama about a short living procedure lol

For some reason certain people love to start drama about the strangest things that are even remotely connected with Alina. It is a mystery.

To be completely fair, there was a segment of her fanbase (a younger segment) that absolutely LOVED them. There were some tweets from fans saying they were now inspired to get theirs done too. So it wasn't all complaining. :)

Most of the people thought it was 'too much' because she is so naturally beautifully she didn't need them.

I rewatched the Dream program Alina, Evgenia and Kaetlyn skated to last season and I must say Alina really skated amazingly to this program. Soft music like that really suits her. Makes me wish that she will skate to a program like this during the next season. Would make my dream come true haha

Maybe because it was off season? xD during the off seaosn every little info is interesting and causes drama, because people are anxious for the season to start again haha.

Well have to agree. Alina is a natural beauty, but I love me some big brows LOL

No one can argue they aren't fashionable!

And yes the off-season is a trial for all of us. :drama: But this one seemed to have so much going on! I guess post-Olympic off seasons tend to be that way.

I loved the trio they skated as well. Hopefully, next season we get to see her skate to something soft and lyrical.

I mean I would hope a 16 year old girl would not want to go pro, but rather compete for several more years

Actually Olympic champions often stop or go pro the season after Olympics. There was talk a little while ago here of how Alina is the only champion in quite a few decades (since Katarina Witt I think?) to do a full season the season after winning! Ofcourse Alina wants to skate longer and she's doing well and will do even better after she's settled into her growth!

I think she scored seven points higher at Olympics less than a year ago I guess I was just expecting high scores for a lot of the girls at Europeans.

I donno, Sofia did very well (her highest I think?)! Konstantinova often doesn't do too well in international competitions, Alexia is doing well this year. And Alina ofcourse! Her Olympic score was the highest at the time, can't expect it every time, but she didn't fall apart, got all her levels, and is focused on the free and got 75 which is pretty damn good I think.

I've been thinking about this a lot. Alina's free program from 2015 to "Unchained Melody" was such a beautiful, breathtaking program. If she did a modified version of this program today with her amazing jumps and spins, it would be an absolute masterpiece. I think it would show a different, more emotional skater that you can't necessarily see in her programs this season. Please Daniil give Alina soft music next season!!

Just saw the eurosport commentary on her SP, and they were really raving about the music cuts and editing and compilation!! (Remember when pretty much everyone hated it? Even here we weren't onboard about it! And people Still leave comments about it on insta) Daniil must feel so vindicated now! And Alina's performance is what makes it work! It really is a lovely program.

:devil: vindication for daniil. i agree once i got used to the music cuts i thought the program was really nice and alina sells it well

Interview with the three top SP skaters, Alina, of course, being one of them, for Golden Skate.

https://goldenskate.com/2019/01/alina-zagitova-i-need-to-be-confident-in-myself/

Her parents decided to pull the plug on her online activity (such as it was because she was never an over sharer), maybe they rightfully figured it was stressing her out reading a bunch of stuff and now she is off the grid.

Cudos to her parents. Young athletes really shouldn't have unrestricted internet access. It seems most can't resisist looking up what's being said about them online and handling that is a huge mental task in itself.
