Alina Zagitova

The UR wasn't obvious for me; but I am not expert. I only noticed that the Lo wasn't as high and impressive as usual. The British commentators also didn't mention the UR and even the coaches seemed a bit surprised. Not complaining, just wondering. Was the allowed UR 90 degrees or 45 degrees? I will have to watch it again. Maybe it is better seen in slow motion.

It was a fair score for her performance, in my opinion. Can she do better than that? Obviously, yes. And hopefully she will at Worlds.

You can see it better in the slo-mo replay they show after her performance.

I believe the ISU considers a jump UR at 45 degrees?

75 with an underrotated 3Lo (which got 0 GOE too btw) and a small mistake on the 3F. I consider that a very good score. Imagine how it will be when she‘s completely clean? Her PCS would rise too. If she‘s saving her best SP for Worlds, I‘m all for it.

I think she scored seven points higher at Olympics less than a year ago I guess I was just expecting high scores for a lot of the girls at Europeans.

Alina has never disappointed me (yes, not at world's either), she is magical. Best of luck in the free! :hap10:

[I'm sick and leaving current job and moving to another country all this weekend, but Alina in my heart still has my support from afar :luv17:]

You can't move when Alina is in competition! ;)

Feel better Fool and I hope the move goes smoothly.

Does anybody have a translation of what she was saying?

Also - is there any video or transcript of her press conference after the SP?

Thank you.

Journalist: when you got off the ice we finally saw you smile. You were focussed today. Did it help?
Alina: I was focussed so to skate clean, and didn't show any emotions on purpose. And I'm going to show no emotions before the free too. So I am very focussed today.
Journalist: That's great. About the skate - you had UR on your combo, did you know that during the skate?
Alina: yes, there were some small mistakes, but it can be fixed.
Journalist: How important is it now to get ready for the free.
Alina: I need to 'tune into' the free for maximum

Oh thanks for translation. She look very focus! No place for distraction, even from journalists. That's good. :)

in Program Components she/he gave 7 and only one 8.

Ou you right. I checked only technical score before. That woman probably likes better different style of the skating than european, she was very strict on every girl .. Weird.

How are her ankles after the GPF mishap? They seemed to be taped under the tights, hardly visible, but it could have been her boot liner socks ...

She looked nervous before and anxious after her routine and probably was very relieved. The pressure and affection of the whole audience, and indeed the whole nation rested on her shoulders, but she held up well. I too am very glad she didn't went pro and wants to compete for Russia in this season and hopefully the next as well.

I mean I would hope a 16 year old girl would not want to go pro, but rather compete for several more years
