Short article/interview about Nastya after the sp. I can't speak Russian so I did my best with Google Translate- She got sick before gpf and her grandma died before Russian nationals which affected her preparation for those competitions, but she feels better here. She also thought that her combo could've been even better- good to see her paying attention to detail. Wishing her the best of luck for tomorrow's freeskate!!!

Even with the fall on the flip, I felt that Nastya's performance was one of the best of the night. She skates with this fire and passion that not a lot of people have, and on a more positive note, her 3lz+3t tonight was one of her best ever. It is also encouraging to see her get higher pcs, even with the fall, hopefully judges will stop perpetually robbing her of pcs. In the end, even though her season has been far from perfect, I think she deserves to move up to seniors next year, and I hope there judges will recognize her for her passionate, unique skating. I also really hope she doesn't give up (didn't she say she felt like she wanted to retire at some point last season), because imho she is on the verge of a breakout. Maybe I'm selfish, but I also really hope she can perfect her 3lz+3lo combo and her quads, judges will probably be more generous if she does (as we've seen, pcs is too often linked to technical skills) Also, will she compete at the Russian cup final later this month? I hope her season hasn't completely ended yet.

No matter how fiery Tarakanova skated today, that fall in her free skate routine is a break in the chain of consistency required to be send to Junior Worlds.

I don't know when official registration to JWC will close and if reserves are needed, Anastasiya might still be put on the reserve list. Shcherbakova also had falls today, so the coming weeks of controlled trainings under full scrutiny will be evaluated to determine both skater's scoring potential and who will get the spot. Every skater in contention will try to solidify her program to leave no room for error under pressure.

Next year along the A-Team we will have Tarusina(?), Medvedeva, Zagitova, Samodurova and Tuktamysheva. There will be no place for her in seniors and hopefully she can finally go to JWorlds.

They did stop somewhat. However they just transferred the job to TP - both her URs were unjustified. They were UR-ed maybe to 85 degree at worst - still there definitely was room for doubt in favor of a skater. Nevertheless while other skaters with similar jumps could be forgiven - she wasn't. Judges just don't like her. Maybe because of Plushenko's excessive self-PR, maybe they are just pushing forward CSKA school's skaters, idk. It's worth to mention that she lost her position in national junior team since only first 6 is given RusFed financial support.

While I completely agree with you - I am afraid that in tremendously deep field of Russian ladies skating the skater who can't guarantee herself GP event next season due to SB score of "mere" 190+ points - can't count on being moved up to seniors. There are too many too strong other russian ladies who are already in queue for taking senior spots. Still they can give her Rostelecom spot - but considering nonexistant influence of Plushenko's school it's unlikely.

This has me wondering too, Plyushchenko's Angels is a private enterprise, so Tarakanova and the other boys and girls already train at their own expense and perhaps a small stipend from their local federation?
FFKKR politics, favouritism and funding are very murky and will never be disclosed to the public at large. The FFKKR vows for transparency, but will not divulge its inner secrets, because there are other interests at stake.

Next year is next year however, and it remains to be seen who from the present seniors is still keen on and fit enough to be able to compete in the seniors starting next season.

I also wonder how Tarakanova's initial departure from Sambo-70 will be held against her.

She has proven to be a gritty fighter, but on her own can only punch this hard.

Well, she thanks everyone for the support, says not to be upset, cause she is not. It's just one competition and she will keep working, knows her mistakes and pretty optimistic. She is also happy abot her 1k subscribers and thanks everyone again.

I'm so glad that Nastya is taking an optimistic view of it, and not feeling downcast. She has lots of potential, and I absolutely believe she has a bright future ahead of her. Just this season she made so many strides - her performance of those programs just kept improving - and if she continues to do so (and I don't see why she wouldn't), well, we're all in store for a real treat next season, and I can't wait. At the same time I'm glad her season isn't over yet, and hopefuly there will be videos.
