What are qualifications for Russian Cup Final?
I’m actually wondering what’s preventing Alena from the triple axel and quads sooner than the other girls. Is t the rotations or the drawing strength for the height? Her execution and technique now is nearly flawless (+4 and +5s all around) and if anyone should even be ready to take on a next challenge because of their superb mastery or the other jumps at this point, I’d say it’s Alena. Also, I’m always extremely impressed at the nearly no travel on her spins. They’re so centered!!
Top skaters can just turn up, it's nothing new. E.g. Tuktamysheva, Samarin have done it, Kolyada almost did (withdrew at the last moment due to health issues) without formally qualifying.Would like to know as well. There should be a ranking list of both KMC (Candidates-) and MC (Masters of Sport), but I haven't found it on fsrussia.ru.
Usually, you'll need to have participated in 2 or more regional qualifiers, but I suppose wildcards are handed out regularly, like now to Medvyedeva it seems.
I don’t suspect they’ll be quite as close internationally but Sasha is going to score between 7.5 and 8.5 pcs regularly and I think that is absolutely fair. If both hit their best performances you’re going to regularly see ~4-8 pts difference in Alena’s favor in each program.
TBH I think asking Sasha to be scored ~7.5 is a little stingy here. I’d have scored Sasha ~8.5’s at Jr Nats and Alena ~9.5. That would give a pretty fair advantage to Alena which IMO accurately depicts the difference between the two at this event. Alena’s real problem is that Sasha performs her SP very well and even with a fall isn’t going to lose enough points to make a real difference after a clean FS.
When I said a while ago that the key driver of attacks on Eteri is jealosy: she can do what other coaches from Russia and other countries just uncapable of doing - there were many indignant responses. Now Averbukh used the same word "jealosy". I am not against being in his company (or his being in my company
I understand the critique but I think it's more like coach jealosy - says Averbukh. We should fully support them and be proud of having such a school. This is namely the school that has brought up a constellation of girls. Some turn it upside down and assert that one can just shout at a kid and she will start jumping quads. If it were that simple everyone would jump quads but so far only Tutberidze school can do them.
This school has outstanding professionals: Sergey Dudakov, David Gleikhengauz, and Eteri herself. Even their technique is now used by others do that the kids can jump like in Tutberidze's group. Let's support them.
Probably, and FFKKR declared it the final proof of readiness/moment of qualification to certain important events.
There is bound to be great disappointment in some skaters finding they are redundant, despite their efforts.
It is not jealousy. I am not involved in figure skating( just occasianally watch it), but i can see that that school has some issues. They dont have any adult skaters, except Moris and their skaters as soon as enter the puberty collapse. I havent seen any other coach behaving as Eteri with the skaters. And getting the results is not an excuse for that behaviour. There are other accomplished coaches, such as Mishin, Moskvina, Marie France, Orser, just to name a few, that got the results and didnt act as Eteri. Especially because she works mainly with kids, she and her team should pay much more attention to how they handle the mental part of the training, otherwise they can leave the athletes wih traumas. Another fact is that as soon as the skaters are not competitive, they put so much pressure on them that they have to leave. Instead of supporting them during difficult times. Because they, the coaches, know that they have other skaters to replace them with... it is a truly business. When I said a while ago that the key driver of attacks on Eteri is jealosy: she can do what other coaches from Russia and other countries just uncapable of doing - there were many indignant responses. People should already make peace with the fact that Eteri works with youngsters,it is just getting old. So that's her thing and it works, and as they say "if it works don't fix it".It is not jealousy.
