Gubanova wuzrobbed.
I am an Evgenia stan, but I stand by the above sentiment. Quality jumps, spins, program, skating - Gubanova had it all.
The LP is going to be a bloodbath.
So far to me it looks like no matter how anyone skates, they're still making it be a competition only between Zhenya, Liza and Stasya. Also, damn it Stasya why can't you pull yourself together like this outside of Russia. I enjoyed this so much.

Gubanova was on the attack today. I would have had her slightly above Evgenia due to her higher tech score. I really don’t understand the low PCS...hoping she can have a clean LP and grab the host pick GP spot next season.

Medvedeva overscored and Gubanova underscored is hardly anything new...
The judging of this event is ridiculous and shammy.

I personally didn’t have a problem with Zhenya’s scores (although 2A could’ve been called under). My problem is more with Gubanova’s scores being too low.
Is there a link to official results and protocols?

Has Evgenia changed her sp? Is she now doing the loop instead of the lutz? Music change - she looked pretty good here.
If you want to analyse the motion of a skater in the air, you have to decompose their motion into three parts: translational motion of the centre of mass horizontally and vertically, and rotation about the rotation axis (I'm assuming the rotation axis itself isn't changing, otherwise we have more pressing concerns to deal with).
For jumps, the horizontal translational motion doesn't actually affect the force upon landing that much, because the ice is slippery, so a decent landing will lose little speed. Thus, we only need to consider the other two. Quads necessarily rotate faster, and to be able to stick a landing, you have to kill the rotational speed instantly, so faster rotation means more force on the legs is needed. The vertical velocity depends on the height; if you jump higher (and not all quads are higher than the corresponding triples), then of course you'll hit the ground harder. However, the difference in height between a quad and a triple usually isn't that great, whereas the rotational velocity increases dramatically.
So, overall, yes, quads will hurt more than triples, but this is mostly due to increased rotation and not increased height.
