With this small margin win, Zhenya shouldn't go to WC over Liza. And she was overscored too. Liza is getting in form and getting better and better every competition, while I don't see that much improvement with Zhenya, the jumps are still tentative, they'll not get these high GOEs from international judges.

Guys didn't we read an interview from someone from Rus Fed saying that since Sofia won, she's a lock? He didn't say it for anyone else. Also, take this into consideration: Zhenya's and Liza's total scores today compared to Rus Nats are higher than any other senior but the 3A.
If the Rus Fed will give the spot to Zhenya, maybe Mishin would be the one to make the decision between Sofia and Lisa. One of the girls would be robbed.
I still hope Zhenya will get the Universiade spot and Lisa will go with Sofia.
Actually does anyone know why wasn´t TAT commenting on the Russian first channel? She was sitting close to judges, a bit suspicious :think:

Interesting spot for Nastya. I would rather she skates before Zhenya and Stasya than after them because if she skates well pressure will mount for the final 2. And Liza is lurking and skates right before Nastya. I expect good Liza today. This is her chance to sew up her world's spot.

This take is really amusing. Apparently doing well in 1 competition all season is more than enough to make up for many poor performances for one skater, but doing well in many competitions all season is insufficient to be forgiven for 2 poor performances for another skater. Sure buddy.

This should be a very difficult and interesting decision because it is a good consistency vs a risky but higher base value. Sonya has delivered scored around 210 and hardly falls, but Liza can easily outscore her IF she lands the 3 Axels
And what about the Olympic champion, who is loved in Japan, has still the highest scoring potential, and even if she won´t be consistent, she can make it at least to top 5

I don‘t think Sofia‘s spot should be questioned, no matter what happened today. I‘m just glad Zhenya won. Now, the decision isn‘t mine to make, fortunately. Liza and her were very close. I would be happy if either of them was sent. But I‘ll certainly be here to see how this thread is going to explode now.

Not if she repeats last years world. Alina has a huge potential to win yes but also to fall apart .

PS: if only Kostornaia were 2 months older...
The opinion is illogical based on all results this season, and unfortunately many people seem to have this "personal wish" (hmm....I wonder why). It makes complete sense to send Sofia and Liza based on their results and season-long consistency, but if it's down to Alina or Zhenya for the third spot then what I've stated is literally the exact comparison being made.
Is it actually the first this season that she was sitting with the judges instead of commenting the live broadcast?
I'd be all for Kostornaia to be the first one named to the Worlds team haha

I don’t know who’s going to Worlds, but I know who ain’t. Konstantinova. As far as I’m concerned, Liza should be a lock. She’s easily the most consistent Russian lady skater this season with high scoring potential. I thought this was obvious, but apparently not. It’s ironic but the skaters most likely to get shafted is Zagitova and Samodurova.
