2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Technically they cant since they have to submit their line-up before Universaide but I think they can go around that.

Name either Zhenya or Tuk to the team now but have them skate off at Universiade and who ever looses have them claim her injury and the winner will get the 3rd spot.

This would make sense. But would it really be good for the one who ends up getting the World spot? They‘d have to do three competitions in a row instead of calmly preparing for Worlds... especially Liza, she‘s still recovering. Theoretically, I would say yes but would it really work?

The judging is a joke. Medvedeva getting higher GOEs on her jumps than Liza? And have that perfomance really deserved that PSC?
No wonder Liza is angry.

While I prefer Tukt to be named to the worlds team, I think some posters here are just seething with bitterness because Med hasnt completely fallen apart like they hoped and is instead, on the mend.

I get that the scores for Zhenya were inflated, but Liza doesn't deserve 72+ PCS, if we're being honest and unbiased

Can someone explain to me how Medvedeva can beat Gubanova with 14 points (!!!). Even if you give Med an advantage on PCS (which I wouldn't) it should even out as Gubanova had higher technical content. But 14 points???

Gubanova only had one 3-3 combo. She lost a lot of base value by doing two 3-2 combos

I honestly think that RusFed should have made Alina to skate to this event too, because her last performances were really really bad.
It might be that at this point in time, both Evgenia and Liza are better than Alina.

I still don't know why they'd have such a problem with two Mishin girls, I mean last year there were two Eteri girls and no one seemed to care

Words such as honest and unbiased don't exist for RusFed anyway. Yeah, I agree that Liza really shouldn't be given a high second mark, but then Med shouldn't either. I mean in her first two senior seasons I can understand high psc, because she had the most difficult transitions and really tried to feel the music. Now? She's skating "from jump to jump", as we say.

I am not even trying to make sense of judging - it was a joke. Stanislava e.g. should not have been so nervous and skated for enjoyment instead everything was decided even before LP had started

I'm just bitter that Gubanova would have been on the podium had she won the SP (as she should have).

For Worlds spots, I think Liza deserves it, but I understand the argument for Zhenya, especially with her potential to score high in PCS. I don't think either of them is an exceptional skater PCS-wise, but Zhenya has the international reputation and seems to have gotten her momentum back. I am happy for her overcoming her struggles and delivering two solid skates.

If Liza is selected, she has another month to recover. Given that she already has her 3A, I think she will be just fine.

Really, regardless of scores, I just cannot see how Zhenya‘s just skating from jump to jump. During the GP season, yes but since she‘s changed her SP, she has been performing with more passion than the rest of the season. Her SP has transitions in and out of every jump, her FS has more transitions too, they have gradually added them over the season. Regardless of whether we like the actual program, I think it was very, very obvious she was performing it, even more so the FS than the SP.

I agree. Sincerely, if you asked me, I would leave Alina home, and send both Liza and Evgenia to WC. Alina can use the time to figure things out, rest, etc. since she had all these pains...

If all three girls will have another skate off just before the Worlds, they will be even worse then today. Whoever will go need to prepare right now. Everyone of them can mess up.

And I think they are kind of observing the girls during their training so they know what is their condition right know.
