I don´t know much about the cross country rules, but aren´t there like about 80-100 to start? It´s almost 100 starting in biathlon, and about 4 spots for Norway last OG. So you can´t really use that as an example because there aren´t that many starting in figure skating. I think the rules makes sense when you see the numbers that start. Or do you mean that they should have for example a 4 spots rule and then extend the numbers of starters, and still allow spots for other small countries?
Totally off subject but you should totally start watching Cross Country and Biathlon Skiing LOL. I didn't really get into it until this year (after watching Keegan Randle and Jessie Diggins win Gold last year. And seeing how freaking attractive the guys are (Boe....Hello!). It's like Swedish Curling team x 2. Like right up there with the male 2018 World Russian gymnastics team. hehe) and it's so much more exciting then I ever imagined and a fun easy watch. Especially Biathlon. The guys who do the commentary are fantastic and really knowledgeable, and if you live in the USA its shown on The Olympic Channel and on their app a lot. Just sayin!
Back to Russian LFS...Go The Empress Go!
My two Olympic favorites: biathlon and curling!
Also, Adelina was the surprise winner (and "saviour", really, after Lipnitskaia had a poor individual event), and it was in Russia so the meaning of that medal was magnified that much more. Zagitova can always show her OGM to the naysayers though, including those who wanted Medvedeva to win over her. She did exactly what she needed to do to win and executed everything flawlessly, and that's what makes a champion. While I was rooting for Med, I couldn't help but be thrilled for Zagitova. And kudos to her for continuing on, even after winning the sport's biggest prize.
