2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

Well, this decision is unexpected, heartbreaking, ridiculous and completely unfair! Can't believe they decided to leave at home their only 3A lady and the bronze GPF winner. I like EM, but this season Liza was way better and more deserving. I hope Liza doesn't give up; it must be so difficult to go on working in these circumstances.

She bad bronze at GPF not silver.

The real stupidity is Worlds not being "Worlds" because of the 3-per-country rule. If Russia has the bulk of figure skating talent, let them enter, damn it.

Oh my goodness. How?

I get that Zhenya won the Cup Final, but still, shouldn't more than that be taken into account? Because the Cup Final was so close, had some suspicious calls, and Liza had a much, much better first half of the season.

Of course I love Zhenya, so I'm glad that she has a chance to prove herself, but I believe that Liza earned it. And this seems like too much, too soon for Zhenya. She's just now getting her confidence back and I hope this doesn't destroy it

So Liza gets absolutely nothing? Because she's not in Universiade either is she?

Well said SFM. Sad for Liza. Good luck to Zhenya. Getting sick cost Liza so much. Hugs for her.

Hope Russia keeps 3 spots for next year.

Sending 3 girls all without triple axel is risky. I thought Liza would go because she does triple axel and Zhenya was saying Liza deserved to go.

Russia deserved 4 spots this year and next year will be crazier with 3a joining Alina Zhenya Liza Stasya and all the Nastyas.

Anyway, good luck to Evgenia. Liza, she’ll still be competitive so I’m not worried about her even though it’s so obviously unfair

I expect a Japanese sweep anyways but the 3 spots for Russia should be safe.

You mean like they did (not) have at 4CC?

Press (not main) also from russia:

This is what the federation actually pay for Zhenya's training - omg scandal -

http://www.wellnews.ru/sport/35791-...telschikam-v-6-millionov-rubley-v-mesyac.html

Probably leaked because at the start of the change there were some opinion about tax payer money for nothing.

Yay Alina get's responsibility and many many doubts already and now we have the topic who pays for the training in Canada which people were secretive about.

Alina discrediting and social media campain for english 'fans' vs Info about the Zhenya 'costs for no results' and the 'favouring' she gets.

Alina vs Zhenya in Russia let's gooo when it should be about Liza/Sofia/Mishin

//Info about what is actually going on in russian press

They almost did, Kaori was underscored imo but oh well. For sure the Japanese ladies will bring it in their home country but I can see Sofia or Alina on the podium if they don’t fall apart.

As expected. I knew it the moment that ridiculous score came up on the screen for Zhenya. It will be very interesting to see what the international judges will do with her at Worlds.

At least this year's Worlds will be very unpredictable and interesting. I mean if Elizabet lands her 4S and some of the other girls make some mistakes it could be very well that Elizabet ends up with silver or even gold. We saw at 4CC what can happen with a few mistakes. At this point I don't even now how the podium will look like. It could be anyone at this point.

She has a much greater shot of staying competitive when the juniors move up than Evgenia. Evgenia doesn’t have the tech and PCS will only take you so far. I very much doubt she will be on the Russian team ever again after this year.
