Yes, after the traffic accident in France in summer 2016 she had surgeries on her head and knee. She just started competing again in early Feb 2017 and that last time she fell was her third competition since returning to competitive skating.

Sorry, but I do not see Canada have a future in women's figure skating in the coming years. You have neither seniors, nor what is the most important, juniors. However, this is all offtopic in this thread.

I watched the novice portion of the Canadian nationals and there's one skater with a 3-3, so that's definitely someone to watch for the upcoming years.

OMG. I never in a million years thought I'd say this about a 12yo's FS program but her Short Program is boarder line a masterpiece. It is definitely special, not just the music and choreo either. She performs the heck out of it.

I just don't get into the pre-juniors anymore because so many factors could change and I get disappointed in loss of potential if they quit, but I may have to rethink my decision. Lol

Actually I like Zhenya and admire her determination and change to Orser. I wish her the best for the Worlds. I only think better for her would be to get a Universiade spot and win there the gold than to go to the Worlds and finish somewhere- 5.-10. And again all this ZAG vs MED madness where all the fans would compare this two girls, even their SP is one after another... Not mentioning private rivalery between Eteri and Brian where is even Tursynbaeva involved.

I think Zhenya with gold Universiade medal and Lisa with some medal at Worlds would be a dream comes true for rusfed.

Exactly. Like I'm weirded out by stuff that happened but this negativity about russia all the time.

Russian ladies may be easily medalless on WC even without a single error. Crash or popping.
To have a medal they need more than one top contender having multiple issues or WD.

To win a gold... Woodoo technique mastering required or just put Trusova in disguise...

I don't think this is the case. The only person that has beaten Alina while clean is Rika (GPF short program). She may have had some bad skates, but her olympic champion benefit of the doubt is not going to just disappear. In fact, if she is clean (and ik thats a big if), I'd say she'll almost certainly be in the top two.

If Alina was clean she would absolutely win a medal. Only Rika could beat her.

So until yesterday the narrative was "Sofia and Alina are enough to keep the 3 spots" and today it's "Zhenya will make them lose the 3 spots11!!!11!!!!"??? I fail to believe most of you who say that you're concerned for her well-being if she doesn't do well. But thankfully she was shown love during the last 2 national competitions which obviously gave her confidence, and I hope she'll cling to it and not let anyone else get to her.

With the 3A turning senior next season, shame on you for wishing that they lose the 3 spots.

jealousy is such and ugly common thing here My Russian dream team was alina, evgenia and liza but unfortunately that's not going to happen. Sofia can absolutely help Russia keep the three spots. I wish all of them the best especially my fave evgenia.

I incline to agree with you, we can hope for the best but objectively it is unlikely Alina will be in her top form again (I am not saying ever but this season). She is the only reigning Oly champ continuing to compete non-stop and frankly I think she was pushed beyond the limit of endurance, add to this puberty and pressure to stay at the top and one can only wonder if it might end in total breakdown

Fun Fact: Alina Zagitova is the first Ladies Olympic Gold Medalist since Katrina Witt in 1984 to compete a full season the next year after winning her gold. I think that's super ridiculously brave and commendable. One of the many reasons I adore her more than I have any other ladies single skater in a long long time.

Agreed. Funny thing is alot of non Russian fans post here. But they have to get their kicks in now because next year will be a different story with Eteris angels on the loose plus Alina plus Zhenya plus Liza plus Sofia etc! Their great talent and depth will be especially envied by Japan Canada America etc! That my friends is undeniable.

I think any country placing 3 in the top 6 should get 4 the next year. Got to earn being elite like the Russian girls have.
