Kwanford, see my post no. 19. This is getting scary.
 :yes:Sheesh! I graduated first in my high school class of nearly 800 students and went to college on two scholarships (one competitive), but my college classmates never heard about it from me.
I think my mom was just glad that I was accepted to college...
)Hey, who ya calling mature? :scowl:it might just prove that maturity and logic are the only two things that cross fandom barriers
There's gotta be a way we can make money off this. Or at least PR for skating. You know, like the Bush Sr and Clinton show.we are proof that there is still hope for the Middle East...

If Emily had simply said "I value education and consider it is just as important as, or even more important than, figure skating" no one would have taken offense. But she made such a point of saying she was DIFFERENT from other skaters because she valued education.
Now, see that's awesome!![]()

And just look at us now - two grown ups who waste valuable work time to post on skating boards... the American success story of the week... (ok. I REALLY need a nap...

Matt graduated summa cum laude from undergrad and magna cum laude from grad school but point taken about Emily.
Sarah came off as extremely arrogant in her interviews about wanting a perfect SAT score, going to Harvard blah , blah. Heck even Sarah's TV special was all about her father going to Cornell and her family's Ivy League education- save for her brother Matt who only went to Ithaca college (I guess he's the "dumb" Hughes).
Emily is starting to come off as arrogant as well. Academic success certainly is something to be proud of ; however in my experience Ivy League schools produce their fair share of unremarkable people and there are brilliant people in state schools. Not everyone has the money to afford an Ivy League education and there are many extremely intelligent kids who go to state schools on full rides. Savoie had attended Bradley free b/c his mother worked there and it certainly hasn't prevented him from gaining acceptance to an Ivy League law school. It doesn't make him less of a person that he hasn't attended Harvard or Yale.
I also want to add that Alyssa is on a full academic ride at her school- not every family can afford higher education AND elite training- and when she is finished with her education she will be in a much better place than either of the Hughes sisters (just my hunch).
Sounds to me like its you who seems to have some problem with Ivy League education.
Ant
Ivies DO meet 100% of all demonstrated need and admissions are need-blind, so not having the money for an Ivy League education doesn't really make sense.
.
I believe City University of New York has produced more Nobel Prize winners than any other University in the US. and that's a city university not a state.
