Great! I'm glad for Liza and Sofia. But somehow I had hoped for Gubanova or Tarusina to have a chance here...

:curse:
... but Anna‘s 4T looked quite good and it might actually be a more stable jump for her than the lutz...
Happy for Sofia and Liza.

And here‘s a question: Will THIS make a return next season? Daniil said, 3A was the focus for the SP for all three next year... but Anna‘s 4T looked quite good and it might actually be a more stable jump for her than the lutz...

My favourites in the best KnC! I wonder if Mishin will be there?
Any news regarding the Alenka Kanysheva situation ? Besides the private photos and deleted videos, nothing's been oficially confirmed yet (unless I missed something ?) and I think we all collectively forgot about it
Stanislava already unveiled her music for the next season, but only her SP. It will be February (don’t know the composer, but it was Polina Tsurskaya’s 2016-17 FS music).
The rest was talked from the front and from behind, right and left, but this! Now even the fact that Eteri is celebrating her own students victory is bad? How exactly she should have to execute her celebrations to not touch somebody's feelings?
Like, because Lilbet is representing Kazakhstan, Eteri shouldn't celebrate her silver in K&C? Or she should just tell her: "you did well, Lilbet, but because you represent Kazakhstan, I will not hug you, I will not smile, I will not jump from the seat?" How you people then can cope with the situations when Orser was celebrating his own foreign students victories over canadian representants? This is just ridiculous.
Trusova made it on the front page of another site. Comments are
https://old.another site.com/r/inte...e_balance_of_russian_figure_skater_alexandra/

The Canadian representatives---Chartrand (23rd), Daleman (11th), Messing (15th), Nguyen (16th)---were not at all competitive with Orser's top students Medvedeva and Yuzuru Hanyu, who took bronze and silver respectively. I'm sure the Canadians didn't mind that Orser congratulated his medalists.
Why would Zhenya be upset because her former coach congratulated Lilbet?
It is after all a normal thing for a coach to be pleased with a great performance from a student.
My point was that Eteri works for Russia and is paid by Rusfed. Zhenya got in so much trouble for "abandoning" her country by switching coaches. She was called a traitor. But when Eteri celebrates and cheers for someone to defeat Russia, no one has a problem with it. This is just her coaching an international student, it has nothing to do with loyalty or national pride. But Zhenya doing the same thing, going to an international coach, is seen as high treason.
I think I can try to explain the difference in opinion, even though I'll caveat this by acknowledging that I am not Russian and I don't necessarily agree with the position.
It really does depend on the difference between the role of a coach and athlete, and what they represent. I think when Evgenia left for a Canadian coach after Katelyn Osmond won gold, it was interpreted as her saying that Russian figure skating coaches are not good enough so she needs to go internationally to find someone. This may understandably upset those who have a lot of pride, whether based on nationalism or not, in the strength of their skating programs and the world-class skaters they've produced.
With Elizabet, there may be less animosity because of what was discussed earlier--she was born in Moscow, speaks Russian, and lives there--so she may not be treated as an "other" by other Russian skaters or by the media. I feel that if Eteri somehow managed to coach an American skater or a French skater into winning silver over a Russian skater, people would see that much less favorably. There seems to still be fond feelings felt towards former USSR countries. I mean, Moris, representing Georgia, doesn't get any hate from the Russians either.
Also, remember that Alina did win gold, which is a gold for Russia. If the podium had been Japan-Kazakhstan-Japan or Kazakhstan-Japan-Russia then I could see media outlets dragging Eteri for her failures.
That being said, I don't think anything Evgenia did rises to the level of being called a traitor or treason. And I really, really hope we don't relitigate this issue again. There are so many more interesting things to talk about!
This makes sense but it still feels like hypocrisy. Eteri is allowed to put her personal success as a coach above the success of Russia - but Zhenya prioritizing her personal success while still competing for Russia, just training outside the country with a non-Russian coach, makes her a traitor. Eteri can train nonrussian students and root for their success over athletes from the russian team and its not personal, just business.
