2018-19 Russian Ladies' figure skating

I always love those prophecies. Just read several from the last off-season and from pre-worlds times. I can recommend it to anyone who wants to lighten his day.

Yes, I too am fascinated by these fanfictions of big beautiful quads we’ve never seen in competition before. And yet not only have we proclaimed that she’s going to successfully compete them, we’ve already decided that they’re fully rotated and consistent and all that jazz. Amazing where a little wishful thinking can lead you.

Why? Sasha has a three-quad program, and although sometimes she doesn’t land all three, she still gets pretty high TES (90+). Rika has just one quad right? Well Sasha has 2-3 and a possible 3A. There is no way her TES will drop below Rika even if she falls on a quad. Even if Rika adds two quads, Sasha’s BV is still higher than Rika’s. Just simple facts. And may I remind you, Rika’s 3A is scarily consistent in practice, but at Worlds she was 1/3 with successes. Sasha’s 4T is landed 70-73% of the time in competition.

I'm including a 10 point advantage in the short. Then, in the long, 2 3A's, one of which in combo, plus a 4S. Trusova would indeed need to land 3 quads. Mostly though, my point was that the person responsible for the quad revolution, may not, in the end, be its beneficiary.

They don’t allow quads in the short program for ladies, right? That’s the only reason I could potentially see Rika be close (or better) on TES. I agree, for that reason a consistent 3A may be more important than quads but that’s only because of the rules as they are right now.

I have to disagree on this too. It might happen in time for the Olympics if another Eteri junior makes it happen, but even then it's an if.
Perhaps Sasha needs to have lower PCS, but then she should have a higher GEO too, so it almost evens out. And also, if one looks closely, it's noticeable that she has good skating skills and should be awarded for that in the PCS. The only thing she should be "heavily" penalized for is the Interpretation part of the PCS, because she genuinely lacks at it. For example, both Anna and Alena listen to the music and even adjust the movements according to it, but Sasha does everything no matter if it falls on a music accent or not, which bothers me a lot.

Until Rika lands whatever in competition, she has no quads. So far, Rika didn't land a single quad in competition. Even more, its not like her 3A's are rock solid, there are very few competitions where she lands them all.
I mean, we can also say Alina has a fairly consistent 4Lo because she landed it in harness once.

Apart from what the others have written, one 3A won't give you 10 points advantage in the short.

yes. just 4 points. where did 10 points come from? :scratch2:

Thank . So clearer.
It turns out that Rica may not be enough even one quad to compete on equal terms with Sasha. Even Elizabeth will get more by making a 4S combo.

Ilya Averbukh's show "15 Years of Success" will be on ice April 6,7 in Moscow.

With lots of current and 'old stars' participating, but also with rising stars Aleksandra Trusova and Anna Shcherbakova.

Alena Scherbakova.. Seriously? :drama:

And they didn’t even choose her! I am watching it now and these coaches are spoiled :-)
They are ice dancers - so, I suspect it's nothing special for them - in terms of SS.

Not only her skating skills but she was also skating to Dvořák's music

From the comments made after the 8 year old was dismissed from the show, it seemed to me the 'trainers' don't want to work with the youngest of the contestants.
Of course there is a marked difference in maturity and presentation between 8 and 10 year old children, but for television and ratings, 'stage presence' and interaction with the hosts is more important than perfect skating skills. Dinner time TV is only entertainment for the masses after all.

I like this sooooo much. I'd love to see someone from the Russian ladies try it for an SP. It starts like Anna's sp from last season, and that's who I thought of first, and her and Alena are my first choices.
