Ladies - Short Program

What a pity for Joannie. I hate this short program from the very beginning. It doesn't suit her at all. If she skates something like her exhibition program I would think she might have better result. I wish she ditches it next year.

Maybe she should ditch her coach first?

Kostner is most impressive to me. Her speed is amazing...only complaint about her is that I wish her dresses would fit her better!!!!!![/QUOTE]

Funny, I said he same thing while watching Kostner. She has the tineist little butt, however, her dresses always creep in the crack. That makes no sense. All last year she had the same problem. It seems like her dressmaker has her measurements from 2 years ago.

Speaking of dresses, what is going on with that dress Kimmie had on? It looked liked her grandma was up sewing all night in a dark room.

I think Miki's posture has gotten worse. Watching her 2004 Worlds program, her posture then was much better than it is now. The command, execution and confidence was better too, IMO. Who was coaching her in 04?

I don't think it is so much her posture as it is her bad back. She looks like her back is killing her.

I just looked at the judges listed and there are other new names as well. Chihee RHEE is not the only judge that judged the short that is missing from the long.
As I understand from reading a post at FSU, there is a new ISU rule this season that replaces 4 judges from the SP panel with 4 other judges for the FS as a way to avoid "block" judging, among other things.

While I think Yu-na was a bit overmarked by 1-2 points, the British Eurosport guys obviously loved her to pieces. Simon was drooling, calling her every positive superlative you can imagine. He even said that she skated to the music like no one has. It must not come off TV as well as seeing it live.

Wow, those were great performances for Yu-na, Carolina(?) and Mao (even witht the popped 3l). Kimmie did a good job too. Yu-na just rocked, as great as I imagined. But I'm really impressed by the Italian girl and Mao. They improved a lot in presentation department. Kimmie was as solid as steel, so was the presentation.

I agree. Even with the mistake Mao was t he hightlight for me. I think her presentation and flow is just a tad better than Yu Na's. Congrats to Yu Na for an exciting short and breaking the record. Great height on the triple/triple. I was suprised by Emily. I really enjoyed her short.

Yu-Na deserved to win the SP. If Mao did not pop the combo, she is the clear winner. Mao's Combo of Triple Flip-Triple Loop requires more technical skill than
Yu-Na 's Triple Flip-Triple Toe. Mao's PCS is equal or slightly better than Yu-Na's. If Mao 's LP is perfect, including a 3A, she is the new world champ.
Top 2 will be Mao and Yu-Na. Both are calm and over all on all aspects. 3rd place would be any of the remaining top 6, excluding Emily which, at best, could be 6th even with her present peak.

I don't think a triple axel alone will give Mao the win...Mao's short is amazing, but I think Yu-na's long is better. And well we are talking about a 10 point lead...

Yu-Na's long suits her much better than Czardas does Mao, but Mao's LP definitely has the potential to go 130+. Yu-Na's...maybe 125 if it's clean? And she's been consistent all season, but never perfect.

During the Espn coverage Peggy said she saw miki land a couple of quads during pratice. Her exact words was " Awesom, Awesome" . I think MIki is going for it in the long.

In Free Skate, Mao 's Technical and PCS are much better than Yu-Na's, assuming both are performing flawlessly. A 10 point deficit is tough to beat but Mao and her coach is tactically capable of overcoming. At least, if she did better than Japanese National, Mao is likely to win the Free Skate by a wide margin.

did anybody else think all the skaters shown on tv looked like they were skating slower than what we saw on youtube? wierd... maybe watching all these youtube videos before the actual broadcast is spoiling me.

Maybe it's camera angle. I found pairs' are much faster than singles' on TV.

Better than Japanese nats? That's a tall order...that was a near-perfect performance without any noticeable flaws. Whoever is perfect will win, because I'd say the difference between a perfect Mao LP and a perfect Yu-Na LP is probably about the gap in their scores right now. If Miki lands the quad, she'll probably win.

Wow, this is really close...

Lookng forward to a new world record from Mao tomorrow. The 10 point deficit and her goal of getting 200+ are the drivers and mind power.

I predict we'll know this 20 second into Mao's program. If she hits 3A, she's in, otherwise, all bets are off.

Hey satorare, read this!!!

I am not a Korean but definitely offended by the comments by satorare.
He or she must be a Japanese racist.
And what about a sister Buttle?
It is very sad to read this kind of crap.
And satorare does not have decency to appologize.

Though traditionaly many Japanese have very racistic attitude toward other Asians, as they think they are number one Asian and do not like to lose anything to other Asain nations, I thought the younger genaration of Japanese has more relaxed attitude about these issues and better feelings toward other Asians judging from the popularity of Korean cultures in Japan now.

I do not think a racist like satorare should be allowed to post here
unless he or she properly applplogize.

Hey satorare, do you think White people feel sympathetic to you if you whine to them about other Asians stealing a moment from Japanese?
Japanese are Asian too.
Many other Asians hate Japanese and I always feel sad about it but reading coments like yours makes me feel like Japanese deserve to be hated.

Many Asians who are not Japanese come to this board and your comment are very offensive to all of them.
I am ashamed of you as a same Asian.

I just watched the skates on CBC. While I was very impressed with Yu-Na, I thought Miki Ando was undermarked. She just WOWED me and her combination was more difficult than Yu-Na's. I felt she should have scored over 70 as well, or at least be in first.QUOTE]

I agree with you.
Skating order may have affected Ando's score.
She was before Mao and the judges expected Mao to skate well. So they held down "Japan's No.2" to give some rooms for Meissner and Kostner. If Ando was after Mao, her score would be higher, possibly 70 points or more.

Miki was placed above Meissner and kostner, so I'm not sure what your talking about..But really nobody is suggesting that anyone cheated on Yu-na's score and for you to say that is ridiculous in my book. Also, it is deragotory not to mention skaters by their names. You can dislike Yu-na's skating, but she's still a person.

And yes, I do wonder about racism, when you refer to every other skater by their name, yet refer to the Korean girl as the skater. It's really uncalled for.
