I feel embarrassed that the discussions are mostly about my thoughts and opinions than about Alina or other skaters.
But if it has to be this way (to explain every word and every thought), let it be.
After Worlds I was convinced that everything is ok, and she will continue in the same way she did in the previous off season.
But seeing her schedule, knowing the pace in Eteri s camp and the need to learn a quad, I think it is my right to ask questions, to have doubts etc.
She said Yes, just after Worlds. Things might have changed meanwhile, it is a possibilty. Daniil didn t say that they had a direct discussion with her about her future career. Even though you minimalize the need of a quad, I dont think it is a case. She might still win based on PCS but for how long?
Sasha, Anna, Elizabet all have quads now and pretty consistent. Kamilla showed a quad, Usacheva also is learning one.

SHe said she wanted to continue competing... right after worlds, still high on the victory. She did not look so happy competing throughout the season. So yeah, deny all you want, but she may realize she actually likes skating less demanding programs for shows, where if you fall you get up, if you leave out a transition... it's all that happened. Or she may decide to go back to training and competing, but it will not be as easy. She will not even have the luxury of being the only senior skater at Eteri group... and would they again take the trouble to get her happy, if there is three more girls?

It seems that Trusova will now be the "girl with movie soundtrack programs". Interesting choice and it a way it suits her. She will never be an ice princess...she is more of "girl who dances in weaponized boots".

So a) Alina is a victim

You probably don't speak Russian and don't know what happened to her and her family.

I assume I didn't know that Tarasova was actively commenting Olympics and famously said: 'there's no justice in this world' - with regards to Zagitova's victory, as well as 'I want her(Medvedeva) to win'. She was reeeeallly rooting for Medvedeva as much as she could. Even when commenting Zagitova's performance at russian nationals, she kept talking about Medvedeva and how she's better than Zagitova.
Moreover, Zagitova's win prompted her to go all out. Alina's father was invited to a famous show, where Tarasova straight up told him in his face that his daughter did not deserve to win the gold. Numerous comments from Tarasova's friends with the same content were said in the press.
And I am not even talking about the amounts of hate from Medvedeva's fans that poured onto this poor girl on social media.
After that hate-train, it was evident something's going to happen, and it did, she broke down at her first worlds.
As soon as she started to stumble in the first half of this season, she got rough treatment from all that figure skating elite again.
After that unfortunate performance at euros, they even did additional test skates for Zagitova, with the idea of withdrawing her from worlds.

This is the treatment that 16 year old girl had to endure throughout the 2 years of her senior career. Getting blamed for winning, constantly humiliated by Tarasova and her friends.
Alina even said she couldn't be happy for her Olympic gold medal, because she felt like it would be inappropriate.


b) If you're so worried, just so you know, Alina's current content is more than enough to compete with juniors, with 3lz-3lo (that Rika doesn't have), and 3lz-3toe.
Moreover, Alina's marks indicate that when skating clean she can get 82 and 158, which is more than enough to make it into top tier competitively. certainly enough to win over Rika.


Evgenia's last show is in mid-end June. Her schedule before that is pretty packed with shows every other day.
It's clearly not enough to learn the quad sal, she's planning to land.
But moreover, I think you should worry more about Evgenia, than Alina. It makes more sense. She doesn't have a lutz, is already having not a very strong content( similar BV to Sofia's content), weak compared to Alina (who has 2 lutzes and 2 flips). and Evgenia's doing so many shows...
If Evgenia will learn 3f-2t-2lo, instead of 2t-2t that will be quite nice for her. I hope she'll manage to do that in the amount of time she has left.
With content she has now, she's losing to 14 points Alina , I think it's more than worrisome.

Alina has enough time, she can add new elements in 2020-2021 season, this season she is still very competitive.

Zhenya also said she wants to learn quad sal but not to show it next season, she wants to really land it and without interrogation only then will she show it in a programm, so I would say not next season but the 20/21season

I think Eteri spoiled the viewers.
Her students are always consistent, they never falter and always perform perfect programs.
If they (shocker!) do one mistake, people instantly start screaming, that the technique is failing them, that they are done, it’s all over or whatever.

Wake up, y’all!
Why when any other skater does mistakes, you don’t run to conclusions that their career is over and they are done? Kaori and Rika did not have clean skates all season on international competitions, I guess it’s puberty, the technique is not working, I think it’s over for them, they gotta change coaches to Orser!
Moreover, Rika had so many shaky landings at worlds, I think it’s starting to happen... I think it’s her final season.... her performance at WTT was complete disaster, oh no! Her coach suck out all life from her, she was starving and couldn’t concentrate on her Skating!!! That’s what happened!!!!

Eteri’s girls have the right to do mistakes too sometimes(I know it’s hard to accept and understand, but you should try), they can have bad days, get nervous, her juniors (shocker!) also made mistakes this season, but Alina has to go clean on all competitions, or it’s a sign that it’s all over.

Did you forget the times, where we had world with everyone falling multiple times and still winning?
With Eteri coming to the scene, the clean programs became so normal, the competition became so tough, that now we are blessed with skaters skating 2 amazing programs and still placing like 8th.

Especially when comparing men where almost everyone bombed.

This is one of the best most in depth posts in the history of golden skate forums. To that I say thank you sir. We needed that.

What does it mean? That means that you can't abandon one issue that you are bringing back again and again, whatever the current topic is. Maybe Cato the Elder wasn't the best idea, Red Dwarf toaster suits you more. Anyone like any toast?

I’m even more confident now that Sasha will dominate this season, this has the potential to be a really amazing program and when you add in several quads.. wow it could be epic.

It was smart of the team to announce her music choice so quickly, ‘The Night King’ in particular is a stunning song and I’m sure a lot of other skaters were considering using it but now Sasha has marked her territory!!

Where did I say that she will end her career?
All I said it was:
I could see Alina in the Rus Team next season, based on her reputation. Maybe alongside Anna and Sasha.
But is she really motivated to continue? Is she even training right now? We know that all summer long she will have shows, and be in Japan... so, shows and endorsements.
This is not typical for Eteri's skaters, who is known for hard training based on repetition.

PS. i think it would be great if everyone would read (but really READ) the comments before replying to them. It would show respect to what dialogue means.

Forget about reputation Alina will be on the national team next season because of performance. I don't expect there to be three Russinas better than her next season. To expect those three kids to come up and automatically surpass Alina Zagitova by Nationals is asking a lot of them. The same goes for Evgenia Sofia and Stasya.

And Madison you asked earlier if Alina really wants to continue the answer is of course yes. the difference is now there is less pressure on her next season then this past season which was tough on her. She has said nothing other than wanting to continue competitively.

Nuss is right people need to worry more about Evgenia than Alina.

I remember watching that video on YouTube where Tatiana tarasova said in front of Alina's father that Evgenia should have won the gold. I was embarrassed for Mr. Zagitova. Then one of my favorites and Sochi heroine Adequeena Sotnikova came rushing over to Alinas father to give him a congratulatory hug from Russia's first Olympics singles Ladies gold medalist to the father of Russia second Olympic singles Ladies gold medalist. This was so natural and so touching I wanted to cry. Adelina was clearly mortified by what TAT said to Mr. Zagitova and acted accordingly and I appreciated that.

It is a shame that Alina has had to put up with so much crap from her own people. it's like she was invited to the party and then they slammef the door in her face when she came. And these Russian people that did that to her these famous Russian people some of them legends weren't even subtle about it. But Alina Zagitova gets the last laugh because she is a legend in the making.

IIRC, Gleikhengauz said in the recent TV interview he is a fan of hardrock, heavy metal and other powerful music.
So chosing music from a TV series with so many dark and powerful themes and characters makes perfect sense.

Now, to use the GoT music one needs permission and perhaps pay some copyright dues, can we be certain these legallities have been taken care of? No copyright strikes on YT I mean.
So Gleikh can start working on cutting and editing the music to fit Trusova's program which will take some time, effort and different cuts and edits before everything is as perfect as can be.

And Trusova has plenty of choice for a new EX, what GoT character you think is both fitting and appropriate for Aleksandra to portray in an EX?
If we forego any English language and Western culture 'adult innuendo' sensitivities and just concentrate on costume, choreography and musical interpretation and artistic expression?

They used GoT music for Tsurskaya, and there were no issues at all, so probably they got it sorted out.

About Alina: As strange as may sound, the fact is Alina reached the level of 238 points internationally, twice during the last season. Every other lady not even once. Some have the potential. So someone can reverse the question and ask: do everyone else have the ability to realize their potential? Because so far it's just a potential. For me it's not so obvious and easy to win a clean Alina.

OMG, this is becoming Alina’s fanfest. First of all, let’s stop trying to foresee what’s gonna happen, many factors are involved. For example, although Anna and Sasha have a high TES, I don’t see their PCS being as high, specially Sasha’s. Let’s not forget Anna wasn’t consistent the whole season, her winning depends on landing her 4lutz, and she hasn’t consistently done it last season. Sasha wasn’t the most consistent either, although she has more quads in her program, and has more room for mistakes and still get TES points. A clean Alina is absolutely competitive with these girls, considering Alina is more artistic, has better skating skills and has a high TES. Let’s not forget that a clean Kostornaia is also competitive, her PCS will be HUGE, she has the best skating skills and artistry among the senior Eteri girls; she may even beat a not clean Alina. Evgenia, although having a lot of shows scheduled, posted last year a video doing a 3Lz3Lo (not clean lutz) and I totally think she can have a 3F3Lo in her program, that’s the main reason why she was training 3S3Lo and 2A3Lo, so she could add harder Loop combos to her programs. She also posted a beautiful I spin video. I think she has the potential to be competitive, even more in the 2020-2021 season with a quad salchow. Nobody knows if Anna and Sasha will last after puberty, if they won’t get injuries etc. And let’s not forget about clean Rika and clean Kaori. The thing is people overestimate the quad girls too much. Nobody knows what’s gonna happen. And, please, I’m not even an Alina fan, but can we stop talking about her “retirement”? The girl has the right to make her own money with shows and project herself internationally to get more sponsors. Ice shows are good for the skaters, don’t forget they have bills to pay. #leavepoorAlinaZagitovaalonecauseshewontretire

They felt no pressure at rusnats it was all on Alina and Zhenya. Next season all eyes will be on 3a like never before. We will see if that affects them. And remember they only surpassed Alina at rusnats because Alina had those awful chemical burns on her right ankle and she bombed her LP.
