Plushy's Return

Honestly, my first thougths were: OH NO!
I don't like Plushenko since day 1. Never liked him. Never will. It's irrational. I won't even try to defend myself, I won't discuss it. I just don't like anything about his skating. And it breaks my heart to know that 7 or 8 skaters that I wish to see doing well and winning medals won't be anymore because Plushenko will beat the hell out of them.

If Ira won't, maybe Sasha could be his partner (I've always thought she should have gone into ice dancing instead of singles, and it would really help her edges/stroking...)
Not with Plushenko but with Johnny............oh my...... wouldn't that just be awesome.  I think then it would be Beauty on Ice.

And why dance - Johnny and Sasha could skate pairs - i think they'd both do nice SBS triple loops!

I am sure they will do beautiful SBS triple loops and everything else too, but the problem with them doing pairs is the fact that Johnny could never do those lifts, even with someone as tiny as Sasha, because he is so tiny himself.

So dance it is. They would really rock.

Ant, just my opinion, I think Dance is a little more elegant.

Dee

I would have agreed with you about pre-COP dance but COP dance (certainly the OD and FD) have lost that elegance with all the required pretzel lifts and sequences of twizzles and spins. To me dance has become a watered down version of pairs so i lean much more towards the pairs nowadays.

It's hard to say. Comebacks are often difficult. Even Torvill and Dean ended up with the Bronze medal when they returned for the Olympics in 1994 - they were aiming for a gold repeat. Many skaters have attempted comebacks after taking time off. With Plushenko one can't really predict. He is one of the best competitors ever to grace the ice. All we can do is wait and see. It will put pressure on the other male skaters of course, the competition is already fierce.

True but:

1)Many people felt at the time Torvil/Dean clearly outskated both the gold and silver medalists and were "robbed" of the gold by politics.

2)There is also the possibility they lost gold through a deduction for an illegal move at the end of their free dance, a backflip over Chris's shoulders, which would mean their loss of gold had nothing to do with the standard of their performance relative to their competitors.

3)They were "old" for amateur competition when they returned, Plushenko is still the right age.

4)They were away 9 seasons from eligible competition, Plushenko has missed 1.
