2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I find it funny that they paired the skaters (Tuktik + Shcherbakova, Med + Trusova, Zagi + Kostornaia). Imho thats not a good decision.

You mean Tutberidze's 3A will skin and eat alive other skaters?
Nop. I was to say RusFed sacrificed Trusova to Medvedeva. RosTelekom? No chances for Sasha.

And Tuktamisheva at her 100% will trash Shcherbakova who is rare bird at 100% skating international.
Sorry for Kostornaya.

Yet I cannot expect to watch Medvedeva and Tuktamisheva skating in 2021. A pity.
I'm mostly sorry for Tukt. She has an enormous talent.

So, you‘re saying Medvedeva will beat Trusova at Rostelecom this season? And Tuktamysheva will beat Shcherbakova at both events? And both Medvedeva and Tuktamysheva will be retired by 2021? If that happens, you should lend me your crystal ball.

Eteri is most likely the winner here, she got plenty of students to compete no matter who wins as long as its her student shes fine with it.

Eteri has five contenders for the GPF.
Zagitova, Kostornaya, Trusova, Shcherbakova and Tursynbaeva. Will she with them to all the GP events?

The comment about harping was meant in general because there‘s lots of fighting in here already. I do think Alina has easier GPs than Zhenya but I see no reason why she wouldn‘t, for me that‘s simple logic and if I‘d been Rusfed, I would have done the same. We can definitely agree to disagree here.

But I‘m still curious about your comparison of Sasha and Alena. I know Alena beat Sasha at JGPF. But Sasha did not land one quad cleanly and if I‘m not mistaken this was the only time during the season this happened. Had she landed one quad, she would have beat Alena. Sasha‘s 4T is pretty consistent, as consistent as a quad can be. Maybe she won‘t land a three quads layout consistently. But on the basis of what we‘ve seen last season, she‘ll land at least one quad in each competition. And that would be enough to beat Alena, especially if Sasha‘s PCS catch up.

Because we can also say that Alena also had many mistakes at GPF, she botched her combo. And because a 3 quad program is extremely difficult to hit especially in high pressure competitions. And I would argue that the likelihood of Alena being clean is more than Sasha even landing one quad. Alena's PCS will rise to there high 70s next year but imo Sasha's will not. Alena scored 67 internationally, higher than 62 that Alina did when she was a junior, and Alina's rose to 75 her first senior year. I think given the trajectory, it's safe to see Alena's being in the high 70s next year. Sasha, on the other hand, will not have that boost. Yes she has quads and tech lends itself to high PCS, but only if you're consistently clean. And last year, Sasha being clean with a 3 quad program was 0. With 1 or even 2 quads landed, I don't think she'll catch up to PCS, especially if it's unpredictable which quads will be landed from competition to competition. Lilbet has a quad but she barely beat Evgenia with no quad and minor mistakes at world's, and she was nowhere near Alina who also didn't have any quads. And then at RusNats, had Alena not fallen in her StSeq, I believe she would've beaten Sasha (who landed 2 quads) - correct me if I'm wrong. There's always a chance that Sasha will go clean and be miles ahead of Alena. But PCS boost is generally here to stay (what Alena has), and quads are extremely difficult and unpredictable (what Sasha has). I don't agree with that, but it is what it is.

She can actually sit and relax at home with her popcorn while her girls are going neck to neck in the finals

Why do I keep bringing up who my fav is? Mabye its because of your sentence here?

This is what you wrote

Quote " I am saying it is unfair to say Sasha (or Anna) is more competition than Alena , and is only used as an excuse for one's favourites."

So for you me saying what I said is as you wrote it an excuse for my favorite skater. But it is not its at the moment an observation.

That's not what I was referring to. You can read the chat flow again.

Ummm because LilBet is from Kazakhstan and Gubanova isn't? Although half of the skaters at jWorlds in the last 2 groups of the FS were technically Russian.

I think her parents are from Kazakstan. But Lilbet born in Russia raised in Russia and trains in Russia. But it is what it is. Maybe rusfed will care when Russia loses more skaters with talent to other countries. Lilbet did not resonate with people until she learned a quad and hit it in competion. Now she matters alot and will sometimes beat Russians and EG girls for medals from time to time. Hmmmm.

Very interesting GP allocations. From the discussions I followed in this forum it seemed like everyone was sure Gubanova would get a place or two - no sign of her and Russia is maxed out on places.

I‘m so sad for her. I don‘t understand why they ignored her again.

But then again: Sima on the GP!! Imagine her landing a 4S there!

In the end, did RusFed leave out somebody who was "guaranteed" a place?

Now that you mention it, no, I don‘t think so. So, they really submitted everyone who was guaranteed a spot. Surprising.

Now that we have the GP assignments, what do you think, how will the Russian ladies be distributed among the Challenger events? I would have said Medvedeva would be a sure bet for ACI but now that it‘s so close to test skates, I‘m not sure whether she‘ll do it. Honestly, with so many of them probably all wanting a chance to try out their new programs before they compete on the GP, the Challengers will probably just as interesting and competitive. And who will do Japan Open? We have a crazy season ahead! I‘m already scared for my nerves.

i think RusFed didnt care about GP spot beside top 6 skater + Liza and Stasya so ISU just goes on the list, WS for Sotskova and then SB that's why Sima get GP because she's higher than Nastya in SB list. Stasya should've gotten 1 instead of 2 and Gubanova can get that 1 spot. Everyone got GP problem solved

They leave out Gubanova who is guaranteed technically. Tarusina too but she's doing JGP again i think.

Why is Gubanova guarenteed? As far as I know Sotskova was because of WS and Sima because of SB scores. Where does Nastya fit into that?
