I don't know, i just have this feeling. Perhaps i worry because i really like her.
I think 3A will be focusing on consistency more this year because it's more important in seniors (as we've seen with Sofia).
I don't have any predictions about their technical contents.
As for Zhenya, considering that even last year when things looked dreary they were adding new content and trying new things, I'm almost certain we'll be seeing 4S if possible. I can't see her doing 3lz-3lo though.
As for Kamila and Kanysheva, I think we will indeed see them trying the quads, especially with the presence of Alisa Liu.
Her and Zhenya are my favourites, so I‘m always worried for them. I would have been worried for Alena too even if she hadn‘t been injured.
As for the 3A. I too think consistency is important but Daniil said at the end of last season that they‘ll want to make sure their girls have a 3A for the new season because it‘s needed in the SP. And they mentioned they‘re already training it. That‘s why I think we‘ll at least see one in the second half of the season. If they‘re ready, that is, of course. But Daniil did sound quite confident about them. Let‘s see.
The battle with Alysa will be quite intriguing, even though I‘d say Kanysheva and especially Valieva are both ahead of her in everything but the fact that she has a 3A. Of course, this can be a game changer but I‘m yet to be convinced. At the moment, the Russians just seem stronger overall. But maybe Alysa will surprise me.
Layouts sure are a fun thing to discuss, especially during off season. I don't think 3Lz-3Lo combo is the one Zhenya will go for, unless she does it in the Short Program. But her Lutz got called when she tried to repeat it last season.
I too was a bit disappointed with Aliona repeating SP, even though it was my favourite program of all Russian ladies last year. But maybe she needed time to recover and have a program that works for her as her BV is bit lower compared to others.
Anna and Sasha will include loop combo only if it's stable enough to outdo the risk. After all, in SP it gives them only 0.7 points of advantage. Also, if they do combo in the second half, they will get a similar BV to Zagitova. But now I wonder if that'll be the case, as in junior program there was a required solo jump and they couldn't add a triple to it if they missed the combo in the first place.
Kamila's and Kanysheva's situation with quads is not clear, there haven't been any new videos. We will find out in a bit more than a week.
I‘m not sold on 3Lz+3Lo as a combo for the SP for Zhenya either but she did say that she won‘t jump 3F+3T forever and this is the logical process imo. Her flip has been a bit wonky this season so it‘s not likely that she‘ll do a 3F+3Lo...
Frankly, I loved that program so much last season that I‘m not too disappointed that she‘ll repeat it. It‘s a safe choice and after all, it worked just fine for Alina in her debut season. It gives more time for details and to perfect every move. It‘s more that I want her to be healthy, that‘s why I‘m worried.
I wondered too about the SP layout for the soon to be seniors. Backloading the combo was clever because there was a required solo jump anyway. But it‘s a bit risky, especially for seniors. Then again, Aliona‘s SP was choreographed that way. She could, of course, put the combo on to the 3F and make the lutz the solo jump. Will be interesting to see.
Kanysheva‘s quad also looked wonky the only time we saw it... Kamila‘s was strong enough for her to jump it in combo, so I‘d say judging only from this video, Valieva is more likely to do one this season. But maybe they‘ll use the same strategy they used for Anna this season. Focusing on winning the first JGP without quad and a safer layout and then introducing it later on.
