2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I'm not sure why Sasha would have two quad combos, since she can only repeat one quad. Seems an unnecessary risk to me. Keep the -loop and -sal combos in the second half.

What do you mean? It’s obvious! She can’t compete with Nathan with only one quad combo ;) hehe ;)
Yeah, jokes aside, sounds a little fan made up.

Here are some unfounded rumors, originated from one source at sports.ru, who presumably have some access to Chrustalniy via connections with some athletes parents. She posted them yesterday. There aren't any proofs or other sources whether all of that is true or not - so take it as you will (apparently with HUGE heap of salt):

Here is my info. Kostornaya have 3As. Sasha have two quad combinations. Alina have a quad. Anna have another quad but it's unstable yet. It seems Sasha have some steps between quads too.

Judging by her other comments Alina's quad is 4Lz and in a better shape than it was before with 4F harness attempts. They postponed quads training then due to problems with her legs at the time - and now they start it over again. Alena jumps 3A without harness already. Here is link to source's profile where you can check all her posts https://www.sports.ru/profile/1073763791/comments/
Also she claims that Alina jumps 4Lz in Japan now without harness to boot and reports about it to Dudakov via phone - and that talk was presumably overheared. It sounds very.. fishy. It's still possible though that part of these rumors is true. Anyway it triggered quite a discussion in Russian community already.

P.S.: also she said they don't want to advertise it yet due to toxic community and not perfect form in which these jumps are (so there is possibility that they won't include them in programs) - to not disappoint their fans too.

If this is true, than Eteri's ladies will really crush anything in their way. Please let this be true. But I will rather not rely on that, it is always better to be surprised than disappointed :)

But didn't Sasha have two quad combos (lutz and toe) before and just stopped repeating quad lutz because it was inconsistent? Maybe they mean that it's more consistent now. Also, Alina's quad would be nice news, but Eteri loves posting all quads her students land. She even posted Alina's attempt with harness. Maybe they didn't have time to film that. Still very suspicious. Aliona has tried and landed 3A before so it's very believable. And we have seen Anna land 4F so I assume they mean this new quad?

Neither Sasha nor other quadsters can have even a single Q+combo for now.
Combos are placed at the end of FS to gain +10% bonus.
No one can backlog a quad, and even less to try a Q+combo.
Having a Q+combo in the beginning ruins your bonus accumulated.

We have to wait till someone can backlog a Quad. And wait even longer for a Q+combo.

Currently those tricks are used to punch the Wikipedia, not to challenge a top level competition.

You lose 0.43 points for putting a -3T in the first half instead of the second. That's hardly any difference as compared to adding another quad in the FS, which is what you get to do if you do a quad combo.

And Sasha and Anna were already doing quad combos last season. I'm so confused about what you mean?

And....to their credit, they compiled an hour about Grinkovs that was well done, with good clips etc. Really they are FAR less snarky then they used to be-I didn't even know about the YouTube, but on twitter, I confess, they often made me laugh. Once, after Karen Chen skated, they suggested that perhaps it was time for her to move on and look into applying to college. (or something). If they were nice about everyone no one would be interested in tuning in. If TAT hosted an hour on You Tube I would be front and center to hear what she had to say. Even though she makes a number of people very angry.

And speaking of laying things out and not pulling any punches- If Google translate is correct, Davydov is saying that his main problem is his skaters lack self control (in eating) and they are overweight. https://fsrussia.ru/news/4448-prokaty-yuniorov-odinochnoe-katanie.html

Looks like Viktoria Safonova (and Konstantin Milyukov) will be representing Belarus in the future which explains why she wasn’t at test skates. She’ll be competing this evening and there even is a youtube stream

I would be here for TAT spilling the beans, and 99% of this thread would be parked in front of that interview as well.

Senior ladies' skates will be at 19:30 - 20:15 Minsk local time, 6 participants.

A good decision for Viktoria. She has very little chances to make it even to challengers, while in Belarus she has all possibilities to go to major events. Is she senior eligible? Also, how are things going for Shabotova? Has she completely left the Russian team and is ready to represent Ukraine?

Viktoria is 16, so yes, she is senior eligible:

So happy for Safonova! She can finally get the international assignments she deserves.

Euros will be much more competitive this season with her and Kurakova in the mix.

Well, it looks like a number of Russian girls are seeking greener pastures in other countries. I wonder how many others are going to make the switch? Maybe this is the reason Kadyrova, Guliakova, and possibly Gubanova weren't at test skates? Then there's also Talalaknina, Sultanmegodurova (sp) too. I think it's good. Wasn't there talk of someone switching to Kazakhstan?

Does this mean these skaters have definitely switched federations under ISU approval?

Those skaters switch to BLR, AZE, KAZ, where there is still some presence, prestige and money in figure skating, possibly UKR, if you bring your own money?

Israel might pick up some that are Jewish or have Jewish ancestry?

If they haven't competed in intl comps ISU simply doesn't care. I haven't heard of anyone who has switched to Kazakhstan though. Maybe they are bit stricter about that. If I recall correctly, Israel accepts everyone with at least one Jewish grandparent, so maybe Kazakhstan has similar policy.
