Many thanks to everyone who posted links (and reviews) of the new programs. I like the Elton John program and am pretty tickled it's a competitive one! It's like a grown-up Stereo Hearts, complete with the fingerless gloves :agree:

I loved Caravan last year, and the thing that made it so memorable was not just the choreography, but Nathan's infectious exuberance performing it. I think this program could have a similar impact if he performs it with the joy and commitment like he did Caravan.

After viewing it a few more times I do think the program has potential. My main issue with the show version is that he dives straight into the step sequence without a proper build up. The slow, lyrical first minute of Rocketman would provide the necessarily build up.

I wasn't sure about hip hop Bennie at first but I kind of like it! Definitely has Sam C written all over it.

It’s the first program of Nathan’s that I did not immediately fall in love with, but after reading all your comments, I can see its potential. I can understand why Nathan chose this version of the music: It fits his esthetic - especially the rap version of Bennie and the Jets. Hasn't he said that he listens to Eminem to rev him up? I think skating to something you enjoy may be half the battle. As Ic3Rabbit noted, he is trying something new, which is a bit of a risk. I do admire him for doing that. Also, the program went by very quickly for me (seemed like 2 minutes instead of 3), which is always a good sign. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together when we see the full version later.

An Instagram fan account that attended Sun Valley/is followed by Nathan said that they couldn't post his Rocketman FS because he had asked to wait until after Champs Camp to post it. So perhaps there are still some adjustments to be made before it's competition-ready (aside from the fact that the one right now is a shorter version).

Sun Valley looks really awesome! Does anyone know, can people just go and watch him practice without a ticket, or is that something you have to pay for? That would really be fun to see the new programs up close and personal, even if they're still a work in progress.

I had always wondered why Nathan never did a backflip on ice, since he can do them off-ice.
Can't say I want him to do them regularly though, backflips on ice always scare the hell out of me and I feel majorly worried whenever I see a skater doing them. One slip off the toe-pick...

But I assume Nathan's gonna put them in his exhibtion skates from now on...?

It should be no big deal, especially for someone like Nathan who used to be a competitive gymnast. Lots of skaters perform backflips in galas and I've yet to hear of anyone getting hurt. Here's Keegan doing one at World's gala (and Nathan & Matteo doing a fake out)

That step sequence has potential. The program actually reminded me a little of the Shibutani’s (self choreographed or so I heard?) Daft Punk EX ... not the moves themselves but the off the charts coolness factor ... and it got me wondering about what a Nathan-Shibutani collab would look like. I’d say the Shibutani’s know plenty about creating image and defining their own niche.

Nathan was a gymnast a long time ago - and though he’s super athletic, and it should be okay. We just worry and don’t want him to get injured, especially practicing something that’s unnecessary.

I am actually liking this program a lot so far, after watching it more. The rap section has potential to be really cool.

Vincent was not doing anything risky during SOI but still get injured. Nathan doesn’t need any backflip in his EX. Someone please tell this boy refrain from practicing something unnecessary before Beijing.
