Marshalls on ABC

I missed the 1st hour forgot it was on think it was on today (Sunday)
I didn't like B&A's hip hop, did like G&P&W's group number, liked Evan, BUT tired of Sasha's GBA last few times I've seen her skate (on TV) that's what its been to.
Heard Kimmie say before she doesn't drive yet, because she thinks she already know everything there is to know about driving (she's wrong) guess most first time drivers think that and end up in trouble. That could include some of us old timer's think we know all the road rules but we don't  But also think she smart enough to take the time to really listen to what her driver ed trainer has to say. Um why should dad buy you a sports car you should have enough money from skating to buy it for yourself. You've worked hard for it spoil yourself.

I wonder if ESPN will rerun this sometime during the summer? I agree with Treeskater tho about the lack of triple jumps in this show. Midway through I thought to myself, "where oh where is Todd Eldredge?" ( I know...skating with SOI now!)

LOVED LOVED LOVED Johnny, Melissa and Dennis and I am not a huge G & P fan. That was so well done.
I thought Kimmie's legs looked a little fuller. She's starting to lose her little girl all arms and legs look.

After watching the trio a few more times I have to say that I am even more amazed. For probably the first time ever, I actually agree with Dick Button; that program was absolutely mesmerizing. I can't believe that this is something that they put together in just five days. Denis did a great job with the choreography, I hope he continues to choreograph after they retire. I like that he was able to change it to include Johnny and make it more of a show piece, but still kept parts of the free dance as it is probably my favorite FD ever. I was very impressed by Melissa's performance. Denis has always been the stronger skater of the two, and of course Johnny has such exquisite basics, but Melissa really held her own and skated beautifully, she really looked positively angelic, too. Most impressive was the unison throughout the piece. Not just the timing, but the exactness of their movements and their lines, it was all so perfectly matched, which is incredible after only five days of practice. I do hope that I get the chance to see this program live at least once.

Thank you, Johnny, for giving us something POSITIVE to remember you by at the end of what must have been a very NEGATIVE season for you. You're STILL the greatest to many of us!!! Don't ever forget that!!!

wow. sasha hasn't missed a beat. She is still stunning, still exquistie. I wonder that she did not use West Side Story for one of the programs. We only got to see it once, and i thought that it was a great program.

I *loved* Davis and White's performance-- they're amazing! Evan's INXS program was pretty cool, and Caroline was perfect. Next year, I can't wait to see more of Castile and Okolski-- they and D/W are my two new faves. I can't help thinking that if Kurt Browning worked with Ryan Bradley he could do some great things.

I, for one, really enjoyed the elementary school fluff with Johnny. That's the side of Johnny that I've always respected. The fluff I could do without was Peggy Fleming's "fashion award" for Evan. How awkward was that? I'd have rather seen Mirai Nagasu or Alissa Czisny skate!

I've never been much of a fan of Peggy Fleming's commentary, but I love Dick Button's. He's always got the "that's right! I said it!" attitude, particularly when he said his piece about the judge who'd been caught cheating and allowed back!

Me, too.

Seriously, figure skating is just making a fool of itself with all that "Look, look, a manly skater!!" stuff. "He wears black! His favorite designer is Christian Dior! What a man!"

Yeah, well they're just going to have to figure out how to stick the word, MACHO, into the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegience, the song, "America" and any and every thing AMERICAN!!! Hey, maybe they can sneak it into the Constitution as well. U.S.A.!!! United States of ALL WHO THINK ALIKE!!! Despicable!

I couldn't help thinking that the top men are doing an "image switch" -- Evan concentrating on designer clothes, and, Johnny stressing his small town roots.

finally got a chance to watch it WITH sound.

I only recorded some of the performances so I'll comment on just those...

Em can really entertain a crowd...I found myself wishing she moved a little more to the music in the beginning...but overall, she picked it up towards the middle and end and is certainly a good entertainer. kind of jazzy/flashy if you know what I mean. Overall, I liked it but didn't love it.

Next one I saw was Cohen's Hurt program. I really, really like this song, I really need to find the mp3. I think the song ITSELF is moving...and SC did a fairly commendable job at conveying it on the ice. Seems those acting classes are really helping. These slow songs of hers typically bore me to death...but I liked the song so it was much easier for me to get "into it". Probably my favorite program of hers so far.

Next was Kimmie- Keep holding on. Another song that I like very much. Previously I thought: Kimmie's a great kid, seems entertaining and hilarious as well (I like her upbeat personality!), but on the ice, oh man, what a snoozer. I must say she's getting better at audience connection- actually realizing that there are folks watching her! Nice program, if not rather generic (this could be due to possible bias from my liking the song, though). but not quite in the league of Cohen/Hurt.

Next one I saw...I believe it was Caroline Zhang. Very impressive expression from such a young girl. Much more so than Meissner at 17. Loads of potential there; we'll see how she transitions into seniors. And what a kid she is, too

Then I saw Tanith and Ben's "hip-hop" number. After all the trashing I saw, frankly I was expecting much worse. It actually wasn't that bad! Very refreshing to see something other than the cookie-cutter "figure skating music"- entertaining and catchy beat- and this is coming from someone who doesn't even care for ice dancing. (also, seeing Tanith work it certainly didn't hurt, either  )

I think the next one was Cohen's GBA program. Same old, same old...not much to say here. I much preferred "Hurt". I'd have chacked this one and shown one of Alyssa's performances instead.

Then Kimmie closed with Angel. I repeat what I said above about her- I really see a drastic improvement in her entertainment value (although still can't quite compare her to Arakawa/Kwan/Cohen). I'm really surprised at how she is turning out. That said, not my type of song, but surprisngly nice performance from Kimmie. And I just dig her personality so much...she should be a comedian one day

You know, it's funny...this may be controversial to say on a board like this...but seriously, if Evan really wanted to be seen as masculine...he wouldn't be figure skating in the first place...right?

I don't know why Evan wanted so much to be seen as masculine. Masculinity is not something that you have to portray intentionally. If you are, people will see and know. I have never seen Alexei Yagudin portrayed himself intentionally this way, but he is as masculine as a man can be.

The problem is that it seems in USA, figure skating is viewed as a gay sport for men. I think this idea should be changed. I don't know how, but I think it should. OT, so I won't stretch it too long.

Tanith and Ben's program was just okay, but I'm not entirely sure that Justin Timberlake counts as hip-hop....

Somebody! Anybody! Please give us a link to Sasha's "Hurt" and Johnny's "All in Love is Fair" ...PLEASE!

No. In a better world, you are who you are, you skate because you like to skate. No chest-thumping required.
