COI - Richmond, VA review

I like Alyssa when she's ON - live... when she's off she loses that spark... she's a totally different skater during a good skate.

And a lot of times that makes all the difference... I hope I just caught her experiencing openning night jitters and I'm totally off base in my opinion - granted it would be the first time I was wrong... teehee...;)

yeah, I guess it couldn't have helped if she made so many mistakes.

It's ok to make mistakes in competition, but in a show setting I'd really expect these skaters to be able to do these jumps. A slight stumble never hurt anybody but if the fans are paying to watch they need to see good performances. This is what IMO separates the pros from the amateurs.

Well, I think she was focused on winning this season. Once a skater has confidence that they will land everything, they go artistic. Otherwise, they don't. I think Ando was insecure about her technical side, so that's what she focused on this year.

and no one said you needed to be artistic to win. She did what she needed to do and got the job done. :indiff: the HOME crowd didn't even seem to get into it as much as they did Asada's performance. That speaks volumes here IMO.

True dat... I'm sorry Alyissa is the best excuse for a snack break. And its not that she had jumping issues. She's just boring! And can we please send her to an acting coach to develop a different expression other than: Do you like me? Please like me! See how pretty I smile?

(ok. that was nasty even for me...)

You cracks me up. I totally agree. Only a few months ago, I was still in love with her skating, but no more. Her skating has no variations, all of her programs including the exhibiton number are bland. Her jumps also make me cringe. She has worn me out.

Hey Red Dog, if you are bored with the ladies this year, my advice is to come over to the other side. What could be more exciting than Lysacek versus Weir for the U.S. championship, or Joubert taking on Lambiel?

As for Alissa, anyone who is not enchanted with the girl is just a mean ol' Grinch.

I think I have a better chance getting into ice dance than men's skating, to be quite honest  (there's just no appeal to me)...if ladies' skating bores me, figure skating on the whole bores me. :indiff:

I wonder if part of this can be blamed on that new scoring system, though. The skating just seems so mechanical now. (doesn't help that the Americans are slipping, either...)
