2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

She is with her other coach

Thank God.

I still can't believe this craziness. I am hoping it was just some mistake by Panova's team and will not effect other Russian skaters.

Ksenia is in the video and she is seriously adorable! I'm so glad that she has been re-assigned and I still feel that this could work out better for both her and Anastasia in the end.

What an unfortunate situation. Poor Ksenia. I didn't expect that Panova was denied entry too. At least Nastya is not alone in the US. I hope she has a great competition.

Poor baby Ksenia :( At least the other coach was admitted, otherwise Tarakanova wouldn't be able to go alone too :(

Btw, why isn't anyone doing 3F-Eu-3S in the SP if it's the same BV as 3Lz-3T? I know it wouldn't get as much GOE due to 3F having lower BV than 3Lz, but it's still more worth it than 3F-3T for skaters that have problems with their lutz. Is it because it counts as a 3-jump combo and they aren't allowed to do it?

Also, I was having a thought about how RusNats is really a long time away from Worlds (3 months). What do you guys think about RusNats 2 after Europeans? I know it sucks that Rusfed has to submit the entries earlier than that, but wouldn't it make more sense? Just curious that's all.

You can't do three jump combo in SP (Euler is considered a jump)

At least we know it's just a Visa issue and they are not running from that 4 foot 8 in 75 lb monster named Alysa. ;) Personally I think it would have been a great experience for Ksenia to skate in such a great atmosphere against someone perceived to be such a great Junior. But it was not to be because of Visa difficulties. What a shame. I hope none of the Russian girls have problems getting into America for skate America. I can only surmise that things will be ironed out by then.

It is always sad when an athlete has to say "the only thing that stopped me was bureaucracy."

A skater with underotated jumps and poor skating can't be a monster

I don't think many airport officers care about some junior competition. For us it's important, but it's not worth denying someone entry for no reason and risking own career for some officer who probably watches FS only during Olympics. Probably just a mistake with documents. Had this been at least of GPF/Worlds level, maybe then we could speculate. Also, it makes no sense not to let in one coach and one athlete, while the other skater and the second coach get to fly to US.

Please remember the following GS guideline:

— Conspiracy posts
Posts that make groundless claims of any sort, be it a skater, a member, or the GS Forum itself, will be removed without notice.

We do not allow conspiracy theories on GS. Unless there is a news report from a legitimate source or other evidence that suggests that a skater was wrongfully prevented from entering a country specifically to prevent them from competing, this line of discussion is not permitted. Thank you.

Panova and Sinitsyna were in the USA a couple of months ago, there were no "mistakes" in their documents back then. Now "mistakes" suddenly appear.
Come on, stupid things happen. For example my dad forgot his passport and only realised after driving to the airport and showing up for passport control. And he's an experienced traveller.

I'm disappointed but it's an administrative error, the Russian Fed should have anticiped....

The small Fed succeeded to send their figure skaters.

Next time they will be carefoul.

To change the subject,

I know she’s skating her lp to Frieda, but I forgot what Tarakanova’s sp is...

I also forgot whether or not Tarakanova still uses the tano and rippon features on her jumps...

It's an amazing clip. It has this quiet vibe before the storm of first senior season, full of drama, extreme competition, fan wars, successes and disappointments. Will they stay friends or they lose one another? :sad21:

I really wonder how Eteri will manage to keep peace between 5 ambitious and talented teenage girls. Seems very difficult IMO. And I am so excited for new programs and layouts. I started watching FS recently but I can't remember such a competitive season, both in Russia and in general.

In what way, HappySkates? I do not see your reference to OR. Could you elaborate? I have as much to say against what you consider Occam's Razor. Let's hear it. You seem to play checkers with kids while others play chess, no?

Occam's Razor, the simplest explanation possible is the most likely. You wouldn't say the theory about RusFed giving up a spot so one of their girls didn't get third is more simple than some there being some US visa issues? Especially since there is a history with US visa issues? Anyways, as others have discussed, Tarakanova made a video saying Sinitsina was literally at the airport and got denied entry. You're not going to try to argue that RusFed bribed the airport officers not to let them through right? Or that Tarakanova is lying? Anyways, funnily enough I was playing actual checkers last night, but in regards to your analogy, I don't know what you're trying to get at. I was just trying to find the most reasonable explanation for all of this. If you're trying to describe a chess move, imo the move makes no sense.

Every single one of them deserves the world for their hard work, dedication, sacrifices and talents. But we all know there is just not enough world. :(
