2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Every single one of them deserves the world for their hard work, dedication, sacrifices and talents. But we all know there is just not enough world. :(

I think it's too bad that the 3A are beginning their senior careers all in the same season. I wish they were born two or three years apart and had their own time to shine.

But really though euler is a silly jump....I don't think it should be considered a jump, it's a mere....connection if you will.

That would be the dumbest mistake. How do you not know you have a single entry and not multiple? If that's the case I'm not sure she deserves to be reassigned. If she was given no reason and wasn't allowed to enter, it would make sense to reassign her. But document should be checked by her parents and her team. This was a huge waste of a very valuable spot while others have to sit at home for such a mistake.

Well, her coach is in the same situation.

I know I‘ve said it a lot already but I hate +Euler combinations. There are very few skaters out there who make them look good and not as if they made a mistake and were trying to cover it up. :slink:

Some even manage to cover up stepouts with Eulers. Also, if Euler had no value and wasn't considered a jump, most skaters would do 3F-Eu-3F combos in short program as it would bring the most points even though +3Lo or +3T are way more difficult IMO.

Silly conspiracy theories the last few pages of this thread.
1) The idea that the Russians would "strategically" pull a highly competitive skater just to avoid potentially losing to Alysa Liu is ridiculous. I think they have more confidence than that in Sinytsina, especially since Liu's skating has its own shortcomings. It's usually not Russian nature to back away from a fight.
2) The idea that the Americans would deny Sinytsina a visa for a junior ladies skating competition is similarly ridiculous. As said above by someone, that US officialdom would even care about figure skating teenagers is beyond belief. US officialdom doesn't even care much about sports and medals.

3) Please stop saying Sinytsina was denied entry to the USA. SHE WAS NOT DENIED "ENTRY". What she was denied was EXIT from Russia due to her documents not being acceptable to either Russian Exit Immigration or the airline taking her. Somebody on the Russian end at the airport looked at her visa and/or other documents and saw a potential problem that might mean her denial into the USA if she reached there. Airlines get fined large amounts (like $10,000 USD) if they board someone ineligible for entry to the destination country, so all over the world, documents are scrutinized carefully before allowing someone to board, especially if en route to a country known to be finicky about visas like the USA. (Russia is also finicky about granting visas and entry to foreigners, so don't play the victim there.)

We don't know the exact problem. I doubt if the US Embassy issued her a visa that was timed to spontaneously combust as she reached the airport. It's possible her visa was not a multiple entry. It's possible that it was, but expired prior to travel or was due to expire during the competition. Or it was a new visa that somehow didn't match (name or other info) her ticket or supplemental non-visa documents. Stupid mistakes due to inattention happen all over the world to all nationalities, every day. Ultimately, the traveler (or her adult proxies) are 100% responsible for double- and triple-checking that all documents for travel including transits and destinations, are acceptable. Sorry, but the goof up for this almost certainly lies on the Russian end of things.

Tarakanova 'defends' Russia alone in Lake Placid, Sinitsyna will 'defend' Russia again in Gdansk, unless FFKKR changes assignments again.

I hope both girls strike up bond of comradery with Alysa Lyu, no cold war emotions between them. Just skating for your worth, showing what you've learned, showing your pleasure in life and the sport you choose :-)

Only the entries of 7th JGP in Egna is still to be decided. Another chance for Sinitsyna? Valiyeva, Kanysheva and Tarakanova are all done by then.

Thanks for your post. And I had to add something here: Even if, for some obscure reasons, someone deemed a junior figure skating competition important enough to keep a Russian lady from skating there, it would be Tarakanova and not Sinitsyna. Why? Because US fed surely doesn‘t watch Russian junior test skates, sitting there thinking: “Hm... this girl has landed her jumps better than the other one, let‘s block her from competing against Liu“ If they really did something like this (which, again, is even ridiculous to imagine) they‘d look at international results. And there Tarakanova is both more experienced and accomplished than Sinitsyna, with five JGP medals compared to one, including two golds at her events and one bronze at the final. Yes, she never made junior Worlds but this is the JGP circuit after all we‘re talking about. Her total score last season is also higher than Sinitsyna‘s if I‘m not mistaken. So there‘s really nothing that would stand out about Sinitsyna from a medal and scores point of view for someone who doesn‘t follow her skating like we do. She has one bronze medal on the JGP and came in fourth at the Junior Worlds. If you look at it like that, it‘s not that big of a threat. Which leads to the only logical conclusion that no, obviously Sinitsyna was not blocked from competing at this event to protect Alysa. The US is strict with visa requirements, everyone knows that. Everyone also knows about certain issues between the US and Russia. All I‘m going to say. So, if you know all that as a coach and a parent you‘d make extra sure that there were no mistakes with travel documents. Of course it can happen to anyone and it‘s a shame and certainly not Sinitsyna‘s fault. But the conspiracy theories are really going way too far here. There‘s nothing we can do now. What happened, happened. Let‘s just hope this makes everyone, especially the senior ladies assigned to skate at Skate America, aware of this and they will double check all of their documents.

I am furious about this Sinitsyna debacle. Whoever messed up should suffer the consequences. If this means Sinitsyna misses another assignment I will be even more furious.:dev2:
