Mao was 12yo.
R u sure? I was referring to the very beginning, not the one she competed at Japanese nationals. She looked like 10 year old to me.
I am pretty sure. The first one was her SP when she was 12yo and that's the year he attempted 3axel and 3/3/3 in LP and underroated them.
As for Mai, yes she was very consistant with her jumps when she was 14-15yo but she had some injuries and never been consistant with her jumps ever since. Her triple axel attept at Jr worlds in the video, was slightly underroated. I know because I have seen it on TV and Nancy Kerrigan showed the slow motion of the jump and it was a half turn cheated.
I guess puberty monster also contributed to Mai's jump problem. What sort of triples can Mai still do these days? I don't believe she does lots of combo jumps in her long program?
actually she has 3luts(flutz),3flip, 3loop, 3salcow and 3toe. She just needs to get her consistancy back.
No, she doesn't do a lot of combos because she tends to toe-axel her 2toe jump when she is nervous. At one point, she was doing 2loop istead of 2toe-axel but haven't seen her doing that anymore. I hope her coach can really work on her jumps and spins during the off season.
Isn't that partly because of the lower base value of 3S when she has consistent 3Loop, 3F and 3Lutz (even though a bit deducted for flutz)?
It would be nice she would include 3S and 3T next seasons. It would give more interesting variations in her program.
We don't know the true reason and probably won't find out unless Mao loses her 3A. But my guess is that Mao's 3sal and 3t are not consistent at all.
She included a new jump element 2A+3T this season, but twice got downgraded on 3T amid three times in total(i believe).
Doing a 3toe in a combo is much much harder than a solo 3toe.
No, she won't even she is able to do them consistently. 3S and 3T won't garner her any more points. She has 3A and does not need those two triples in the meantime.
True, but for Mao, that should not be a big problem if her 3toe technique is sound since generally speaking Mao has wonderful ump height in her second jump of a combo.
If her 3toe is sound, why does not she replace the solo 2A with a 3toe, which has more points?
thanks for posting. You gotta love these girls' smiles. And mao's 3/3/3!!!!! I wish she would try that now!!!She has 3A and does not need those two triples in the meantime.
