I caught that too. I wonder what the real story is? Did she get forced out? Everytime I watched the show it always looked like she was taking over anyway. The camera was always on Rosie because she never shut up. Not a great loss in my opinion. Who will take her place?
i'll miss her. it's funny. elisabeth hasselback has said so many things that were "strong"..is she less controversial because she's straight and "pretty"? i could never stomach elisabeth; until rosie came along. they tempered eachother and made eachother more human, i thought. it was really interesting seeing different viewpoints this year, to me. oh, well...another free hour in my day, now!

Now it looks like Barbara Walters lied to Rosie about not telling The Donald that Rosie's contract would not be renewed.
Oh well. The View is the poster child for everything that misogynists think about women. Four lades blabbing away non-stop, rudely talking over each other in a never-ending contest to see whose lips can flap the fastest to create the most annoying and vacuous din. (But at least they got rid of Starr.)

Elisabeth is supposed to represent the Young Republicans. Since I don't care for Bush's general policies, I generally do not agree with her stronger stances. I really don't care for people who follow a party blindly - especially when they spout things like 'You're with us or with the terrorists'.
I have issues with Rosie, but it's more about how she feels she's entitled to bash people who's views don't jibe with hers. She really blew the Kelly-Clay thing out of proportion - even outing someone who hasn't actually outed himself. That whole incident would have been over if she hadn't said anything.
Since I'm usually at work when the show is on, I've only watched occasionally. I really can't stand when they talk over each other, but they do manage to have productive conversations rarely.
Based on what I've read, the issue came down to Rosie wanting only a 1 year contract and ABC wanting 3 years guaranteed. Supposedly, she has agreed to make guest host appearances when they do shows about issues she cares about. I imagine that Rosie didn't want to be locked into 3 years, in case they make the show more fluffy. ABC probably wanted to lock her into 3 years to ensure that she doesn't go to another network to start a new talk show.
oh, yes...rosie has made many verbal faux pas. i totally agree. i have no problem with her being called out on them at all. but elisabeth isn't. and the people who most strongly call rosie out are white, "family-values" conservative males. bill o'reilly, sean hannity, glen beck, etc. rudy guliani made what i consider a completely stupid remark re: democrats yesterday. today, elisabeth seconded it. had it been rosie, for the other side of the aisle, the outrage would have been deafening. and i know, because it's elisabeth...we won't hear a peep. rosie is controversial and over the top in her comments very often, but i think she's a compassionate person who cares deeply for a lot of things that matter. to me at least. anyway, like i said...another free hour in my day can't be bad.

you know, Rosie needs to take a look at just what she's doing... she was once the queen of nice, and now she's just a witch with a capitol B... and to what purpose?
I can't stand the View anyway... they're all a bunch of bitter women... I think I've watched 15 minutes of the entire thing
that being said I don't think it's a huge loss... and if anything it protects the show from millions of lawsuits...

rosie said she was never "the queen of nice". that was a title time or newsweek put on a cover story about her. her other show she geared after the old "mike douglas show". very different for her stand-up or the view. i know lots of people think she's a "b". whatever. that's just sexist talk to me. a man ranting on is "strong". a woman is a "b" or worse.

Yeah she makes points, but then she keeps going and invalidates her points by not debating the issue but insulting it. It makes her not only completely insensitive, but also just negates what she's trying to do
and for someone who wasn't 'the queen of nice' she certainly used it on her show once upon a time... she really liked it when it made her money...
Men that act the way she does get no respect from me either... I hate talking heads just for this reason... it's just incredibly stupid.

i feel you're all making valid points and of course are entitled to your "views". ok...the view stunk, whatever...i just enjoyed listening to "hot topics" everyday...just my view. i just think a lot of these critiques are too simplistic and biased...and i personally hate name calling, especially name calling at females. i'm off the subject; i'll agree to disagree.

I agree, feel hypocritical in my digression and apologize.
regardless of gender.But never liked the show after the fist week and a half or so and Rosie just bothers me where as I once thought she was a good person - but I am often fooled by my initial impressions of celebrities only later to find out who they really are, good or bad. The show comes across as self-righteous and narrow minded to me now. Those are definitions in my mind, not name calling.
Sorry about the name calling, I must have been influenced by the one in which I referred to for she has that same issue of name calling that I do not like. "Time to hit the confessional."

anymore being called a negative term is something one hopes to have as a title... I believe Rosie's even called her self the name...
considering what guys get called, and other leaders, I see no difference. Just because she's female it's not cool?

I LOVE THE VIEW!!! I don't mind all of them talking over each other because my friends and I are like that, LOL. Elisabeth Hasselback I cannot stand though, same with the first "young one" that was on there Debbie Metanopolis. (sp). I did like Lisa Ling though. That is the point of the show though to show different views so IMO it is only natural that you would like some better than others. Joy Behar is my favorite. I was never a fan of Rosie's previous talk show but used to like her when she v-jayed on VH1 in it's early days. Now I find myself agreeing with her veiws. I think she has done a lot to show that gay households are just like any other. She seems to be an awesome parent and I love to hear her start in on Kelly's mother, LOL.
my oldest son is 17...so i have a lot of teenage girls in my house. these are honor students, really good kids. i only have sons. i've raised my sons to know that it's not cool to call girls the b, s, and ho words...among other words of course, for males and females. i am hypersensitive to the b word. it is the first word these high school girls call eachother in times of stress. and i guess i'm just sick of women dumping on eachother...it happens so much in my experience, we don't support eachother. and i'm sorry, i disagree that men are called worse...a lot of men know if you call a woman a b or worse, you stop her in her tracks. i just feel that people can express what they dislike in others behavior without labels, male and female.
