2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I'm really pleased with how Medvedeva skated. She was only second because of Rika's 3 3As, so she should be really happy with herself for the result.

My eyes hurt from amount of urs in Autumn Classics - half of Evgenia's and couple of Rika's jumps were clearly under. Of course the lenient judging fest goes on all over the world apart from northern Italy. :sarcasm:
Also that might have been the most ornate bathrobe I've ever seen... :rolleye:

Rika got called on on two UR. 3A and 3Lz ( her ankle is hurt and it is hard for her to do the lutz this week.
When Rika is clean that skate is 150-160 material

Evggenia also got two UR calls. She would also get higher scores if clean.

Perhaps, you should verify your information before starting with the conspiracy theories?

This is... not a nice thing to say about a traditional garment of another culture. You don't have to like the costume but you needn't disparage its traditional style. And made by a Japanese designer as well. Just strikes me as a rude thing to say when you could also just say the costume is not your preference as I'm sure it is not for many.

Edit to say I am not trying to be mean or rude here at all but I do think we should consider the impact of our words.

Just don't pay attention to him/her, clearly just another troll.

She should. The panel was strict and so she got the 2 UR calls and an e on one of her lutzes. But, that means she knows what she needs to work on. The performance also need to grow thoughout this year. The SP was beautiful but the LP was not performed to its maximum potential. I love her Kimono. She looked beautiful.

Thanks for info, I'm quite annoyed with Anna's scoring in Lombardia apparently.
Still, this weird music-chopping experiment is nowhere near the epic "Storm", which got 153-155, so no.

This costume doesn't remind traditional Japanese kimono, which I adore, at all.

Anna still seems a bit coltish to me. I think there's too much movement that doesn't relate to the music, and her bent picking leg on the flip and lutz looks a little sloppy. I'm sure she'll improve as the season progresses.

I think sometimes it is all put together and a masterpiece of skating. Today was not that day. Today she was a bit sloppy and 'junior'ish. While Starr had an easier program, it was polished, and everything she did, she did well. While Tuks skating skills are not pleasing to many, she has a certain presence and prowess that translates into PCS, even if it shouldn't perhaps. Young You is the whole package when she puts everything together, I would have put You above Tuk, but -levels and all that. Even if they hadn't dinged Anna the UR (and I thought she would get an edge call as well), it wouldn't have mattered all that much-You and Tuk were on a different level today. Tomorrow is another day, and I'll bet Anna brings it.

I was dreading Rika's program but it is not so bad in the end.

Evgenia done well. I guess we can now officially say that moving to Canada was good for her.

Quite clearly, yes. If she skated this cleanly she without the UR she would have receive around 6-10 points higher just on TES which would have given her between 154~158 points and this program is watered down due to injury. She is planning 4S, 2 3lzs not one, and a second half 3Feu3S . Her scoring potential is far higher this year than last.

Good luck to the girls tomorrow. Looking forward to the 3 Russians in the lead in Chelyabinsk, and of course the ladies at Lombardia.

I hope Anna forgets this Friday The 13th shitscore and have full attack tomorrow!:luv17:

Well, maybe it's finally quality versus quantity. If this makes Eteri remove some of the clutter from the programs, than HALLELUJAH. All of them skate better at Galas and shows when they don't have to constantly twirl, turn, flap and flail and grab their legs.

And seriously, why is everybody acting like Anna ended up dead last? It reminds me of drama during the Olympics when Alina had to take doping test and drink some water and people acted as if this is a conspiracy to make her gain weight and mess with her jumps.

Except it’s the exact opposite. Anna’s program had many more transitions last season and she scored higher. So what the judges are really saying is you need to add more clutter to score higher. In which case I hope their team complicates Anna’s program much more and adds even more transitions as it’s a shame she got less PCS than not only herself last year, but also the current juniors. If she focused less on musicality and more on transitions like the juniors she would get higher marks.

Junior scoring has been very generous the last couple of seasons. It is unsurprising her PCS were lower here. Also, she had this lovely connection to her music last year that just wasn't present during yesterday's skate. If she skates the long with more musicality and performance quality. She will get higher PCS.

Sinitsyna just stole my heart:love: Just wow.

That is one of the greatest short programs I have ever seen. Love the choreography, so intricate and interesting. Not a finger out of place. Just perfect. Kudos to her team! For some reason it seems like Sinitsyna is a hard luck kid, nothing ever seems to go her way, so I hope she has the skate of her life tomorrow.

Hopefully so, but it seems like she got judged on a different scale than the other skaters today - Starr Andrews and Liza shouldn't be close or beating her in PCS.

Do you really need to drag Alina into just about every negative post you write?
She was not at this competition.
She was not at ACI.

I know you are probably still upset she didn't take your advice and retire.
But, hey, stuff happens.
