So we had in the last 24h for the FP: 142 for Medvedeva, then 145 Kihira, then 148 Valieva, and a little later 150 Shcherbakova

I think it’s important to remember not to compare scores too specifically across competitions. The right girl won. Anna’s PCS will rise as she continues proving herself as a senior and judges get to know her skating. I’m not worried. The season has barely begun. Now by the time the Grand Prix starts she has already begun to establish a good reputation.
It was a great weekend for the Russian ladies at all 3 competitions, from Evgenia to Kamila to Anna and Liza and more- I think all of them have positives to take away and use to continue growing.

I do not see a deliberate attempt to hold Anna down.
They certainly did not in the LP, she nailed it by 10 points.

I don't think anyone would argue that Russian/Eteri skaters have never benefited from dodgy judging. And if they did they'd be wrong to do so.
I think the outcry comes from the fact that it needs to stop sometime. I'm guessing that day will never come but just continuing to say - 'oh well, that's FS. What are you gonna do?' - isn't helping anything either.
Yes, the right girl won in spite of unfair judging. It's still acceptable to point out the inadequate judging. And to hope that something is done about the judging/judges.

Loved how Anna bounced back from the travesty scoring of the short and her stunned disbelief to transform it into the performance that she gave out today. The quad lutz! At last she lands it in international competition and is the FIRST senior lady to land it! I really like the program and she was a bit nervous today but she still did really well for her first senior debut.
Also well done to Liza for all the clean 3As this entire competition. To see her going from strength to strength the last season and then now into the new season shows that women can skate too, and age can just be a number in the end. Her jumps are lovely as usual, but I do wish she changed the Lz2A-SEQ to something else. Her 3A gives her the competitive edge, but her jump layout looks to hurt her. Same feelings with her program as usual, and the usual Mishin choreography problems. With her jumps, I always wonder how much better she could be in terms of scores if her team took a peaf out of Team tutberidze. She has so much potential STILL.

Yes. They were both great today. But I was shocked when I saw Liza's score. I thought it would be closer. "She must have been downgraded" I thought. But she wasn't!!
She had a -GOE on her first 3A but that was it. Comparing the tech between Liza and Anna there is a huge difference. Liza throws away points with 2 double combinations and two extra 2A's. And why doesn't she have a 3S and just one 3F? Liza needs to up her tech. Am I the only one who doesn't think the judging was that unfair? I think Anna was a bit underscored in the SP but not outrageously so, I thought she was slower, wobblier and more tentative than usual, plus it was literally her very first senior competition.
Judging is not easy and I wonder if any of us could do any better, it would seem that us "armchair" judges seem to think we could but consider the pressure they themselves are under to get it "right."
Sometimes they don't and it should not and doesn't always mean it was a deliberate conspiracy.

Oh dear is this going to turn into a fan made Liza/Anna judging war?
I don't think so. I love both Liza and Anna and actually I think it is unfortunate they will meet each other twice at GP. I would have loved to see Anna against Alina or Zhenya as well.
She was a lot underscored, Anna has better spins, interpretation, transitions and skating skills than Liza. So Liza had the 3A, better tes, but multiple voices here and not only said that Anna's combo was not underrotated, so another bad call. Even japanese fans on youtube didn't understand her SP score.
The outcry here was mild because this is not a very important competition. If this happened during WC, GP or EC the russians's fury would be greater
Thanks for your reply. I didn't start really paying attention to junior skaters til past few years, and this forum helps me understand so much more. I like that theres so many like minded people, who enjoy conversation about EVERYTHING to do with skating. It surely is a different world now with old school scores gone, ie 6.0 thankfully!She finished 11th at Junior Nationals with an uncharacteristic skate

This was a day full of emotions, and above all, both Anya and Kamila proved how mentally strong they are!
First of all, Anya's skate was just magical, she makes you enter a totally different world with this program, she is charming and expressive, and her musicality is highlighted so beautiful by it! And that 4Lz, wow! What a beauty!
Judges underscored her yesterday, and yet she found only motivation and grit in this , enough to land the first 4Lz completed by a lady in a senior competition. I am so proud of her, and she looked so happy and relaxed during the medals ceremony!:luv17: And this is just the beginning, her PCS will surely rise from this level (low 8s today), the judges are starting to know her and acknowledge her power.
Kamila, the newly crowned Russian princess, was just amazing today. In front of a huge crowd, with very high expectations and very vocal, she held her nerves together and perfomed amazing! I love her FP, the way she accelerates during the most dramatic part just gives me goosebumps, her amazing skating skills (how Ted said, no sound can be heard when she skates), spins and flexibility, and of course, her beautiful quad. She fell on the second one, but held it together and all the other jumps were flawless. What a tough girl!

Even if so, you can't compensate the alleged previous "dodgy judging" by putting another skater in another competition down.

Well, Liza's today's skate was literally moving from one jump to another. Apart from the first combo her jumps were clean and strong, but that was also the only thing in her program. Literally zero transitions, long preparations for jumps, spins just awful not to mention the "costume", yet somehow still the same PCS with Anna. Yes, I'm glad that Anna won, but that doesn't change the fact that the scoring for the whole competition was one big disaster.

Davydov fist butt gave Viktoriya the confidence she needed today.
Plus we got to see the three top rinks in Moscow, each with their own unique style and strengths.
