2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I will be outraged to see Liza beat Alyona in PCS. Liza deserves the TES (only off all 3A go well) but not the PCS if she keeps her empty programs against Alyona. Judging from how Anna was scored, I’m scared to see what the judges will do to Alyona, especially if she makes a mistake. However, it’s comforting to know the judges had been willing to put Alyona a significant (but not enough imo) distance apart from other juniors (Trusova and Shcherbakova included). If Anna ended up with about equal PCS with Liza, I’d imagine Alyona will be higher. She will need the PCS and GOEs to beat the monstrous TES crowd of Liza, Trusova, and Shcherbakova.

I also suspect Liza is going to Finlandia despite it being close to her GP because Sofia is going there, and they’d want to simplify the amount of trips Mishin’s team has to take for challengers.

Re Finlandia, an excerpt from the Liza interview translation Edwin posted in her fan fest:

Q: Between the tournament in Espoo and your American stage of the Grand Prix, there is less than a week ...
A: We usually arrive the day before the competition, and I am comfortable in this mode. Otherwise you need to arrive more than a week before the performance, because the most difficult days in terms of acclimatisation are from the fifth to the seventh, so we have time.

i think Alena will get higher PCS than Anna. She's more senior like in her skating imo. I also feel like Lombardia scoring is bit harsher than other challenger so far, which usually the opposite. But who knows right

Kanysheva is injured, she wont go seniors next season as she wont have a sb high enough, she's a non threat along with Tarakanova, I doubt they'd score 215+ above
only Sinitsina might score that range from those three.

It’s only September, you know right? She might recover by jr nats.

Because Alena DESERVES it!!! I love Anna, but she skates very frail, fragile, her jumps don't POP. Alena? A totally different skater. Her spins, jumps, movement is just to me the best in the world. Alena should score the best of all seniors this year. Who really is better?

Alena has awful LP though. That could hinder her.

That's were she proves why she deserves that PCS .. she can skate to anything and transform that in a wonderfull program ...Liza will beat her in tech but in PCS will be very difficult to beat probably only Alina or Medvedeva can beat her

Well to be fair that part of the interview was posted here.

Well, to be fair, the only part of the comment remotely relevant to the thread was the insulting remark about Lena. The rest belongs in the Russian Men's thread.

Sasha's SP score is over a point higher than Liza's was last week and Liza had a (bad) 3A. I think we can finally stop with the anti-Eteri conspiracy theories. Anna may have been underscored last week, but it's not going to be the norm throughout the season.
