2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Tarakanova's program was simply beautiful. I thought that was one of the best performances from her and the improvement was great imo. I actually liked the program this time. But when i saw the score i died. I was surprised she didn't get 60 pcs. Totally unjustified.

Her facial expression has definitely improved at this competition, and she seemed relaxed and comfortable, but for me, she lost the charisma in her skating she had in the past two seasons: There was some wild passion which is really unique, and her programs in the past two seasons showcased her spins. Her programs in the current season are soft of passionate, but her movements look more awkward, especially her upper body, though her jumps are more stable than last year. That being said, I still enjoy her much more than Vasilieva.

I enjoy essentially everyone more than Vasilieva but she is consistent probably because she never tries to perform until all her jumps are done. I don't understand her PCS. Tarakanova just based on SS alone should be ahead of Vasilieva but Tarakanova has such a messy upper body and this program highlights that fact as you mentioned. She needs to improve her posture and perhaps get a different type of program. She does have a special quality to certain movements

I very much agree with you.

Maya Khromykh just performed her SP in the Moscow Open "Figurist" Competition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VMF4MeJVjY at around 4hr 18 min mark.

Don't know if she competed for real or just for exhibition in some kind of ceremony. Too many streams playing at the same time. There is also RSG World Championships, diverse smaller RSG tournaments, dance tournaments, a true network and sensory overload ;-)

According to the comment stream, Lisa Berestovskaya and Kseniya Sinitsyna also performed :-)

So all the top Moscow rinks have been invited by "Figurist" chain of skating supply stores.

Competition should start at 13:45 Moscow time.

Beautiful, well no that is someting else. Very clean yes and very well executed yes. Imo she doesnt deserve better pcs than she got but neighter vasilieva. So she should have ended in 2nd place

Nastya might not have the best posture, but I found her program beautiful. There's something enjoyable about her skating.

Skate order seemed to affect PCS. If Nastya skated after Vikochka, I'm not sure Nastya's PCS would be lower.

And also Vikochka just had a better season. She has momentum from Chelyabinsk, so maybe that helped. I didn't agree that Vasilieva should get higher TR, SS, and PE, but it's very difficult to remove momentum from the judging even though each competition is supposed to be judged alone.

Kseniya Melkumova of Ice Age, Kids, fame just posted 43.85 for her short program. Two falls, but full of the same speed and energy that also set her apart in the show.

Sasha landed all her QUADZ but struggled with 3Lz-3Loop again. I wonder if she is learning 4loop and it is messing with her triple or if the problem is her adrenaline is running too high from landing the quads. Or maybe it was just a fluke, we'll see further in the season.

What would we do without such compliments

Now seriously, Sasha has just landed three quads on one program, this day history of figure skating was created.

Edit: Judges scores are available already: http://www.kraso.sk/wp-content/uploads/sutaze/2019_2020/20190920_mon/CSSVK19_Ladies_FS_Scores.pdf

And Sasha received 98.34 for TES and 65.44 for PCS. Just polish her combo and it will be over 100 next time.

let me be the first to say, Sotskova is done like why did she return from last season, she stole a spot that would have been assigned to a better skater in good shape.

Sotskova is desposable now and have no use in russian ladies, could have Sinitsyna been eligible as a senior ?

My guess it's the adrenaline rush :-) She managed to save the 3Lz-3L though, better than falling on it.

And there is room for lots of improvements still, up to 180 with a triksel added to her complexity?

there is never satisfaction, she just made another record duh.

Well, the rest of her skate was good and the mistake did not matter in the end, but it's bit strange she had a problem with the same combo second time in the row.

I wonder if the ladies were not distracted by all the commercials painted on the ice (plus the hockey lines). It was distracting to spectators :/

It looks like Nepela Memorial's organizers had some bad memories of poor Ondrej - the quality of broadcast picture and sound couldn't be much worse. The rest is not better - no subs, no live data, nothing. I still can't figure out the stats of Sasha, looks like she had around 163 FS and around 238 totals.

Ah sorry, while I was typing this, they've finally appeared: 163.78 and 238.69
