2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

If she can get that 3f3lo combo consistent, she will get a nice little boost in the short! Not having to count a 3t by having 3f 3lo 3lz will help a lot actually... At least in the SP, she won’t be behind Alina and Trusova on base value and will have the PCS advantage over Trusova.

+4/5 Goe. very beautiful. i like that she really is here to fight.
but the lutz edge of hers is getting worse. sorry but I really dont see any improvement at all, actually worse than ever. lets hope she gets under control
Actually i think it was worse in the Olympia Season and I Think 2017 too

I wouldn't go as far as to say "worst ever", but the lutz is clearly showing no signs of improvement. Some fans had claimed she had finally gotten an outside edge at an ice show, but we can clearly see through test skates, ACI and these practice footages from Shanghai Trophy that that was a false claim. On another topic, Zhenya's 3S-3Lo is wonderful! Both the 3S and 3Lo are her forte, so it makes sense that when put together it makes such a beautiful combo.

That combo looks effortless:love: I hope she does it in the SP

Don't know if this is the right place to talk about Elizabet but is she planning a 3A or 4S in any of her programs?

Not necessary a false claim, she herself said to get the right edge she needs to monitor every second of the jump ,and in competitions and even in practice it isn't easy to do exactly that normally you rely on muscle memory, which in this case is the wrong edge,

unfortunately sometimes once you learn something one way its near impossible to unlearn it. she might eventually break the habit, she might not. i think it's improved since she left Eteri, but i'm not too sure it will ever be corrected.

It's not necessarily a false claim; its really easy to focus on something when you don't have a full competition program to remember and you don't have any competition stress or adrenaline, but its similar to the quads and triple axels we see in practice (and especially with the stupid harness) - it doesn't matter if you can't put it together in competitions.

In her FS run-through she did 3S, 3Lz, 3F, 3Lo, 3S3T2T, 2A3T, 2A2T. She stepped out on the 3Lz, 3F and 3Lo. I'm not too sure about her SP layout, but given that she doesn't have the quad or 3A in her FS I would guess that she doesn't have it in her SP either.

Edit: Just watched her SP run-through. No 3A.

Not sure if she's fully recovered yet but I hope she takes it easy. That 2A right at the beginning of her short might be a placeholder for a 3A?

Yes, it was. It is now similar to how to looked during her first senior season. Obviously, she has always been a flutzer. It is a common issue and it is very difficult to correct. Few ladies succeed in fixing their lutz edge. Mao certainly improved hers but it was never a true lutz. I think it is good that she is trying to improve it while exploring new combos and jumps.

The first 3S in her free and the first 2A in her short could be placeholders for later in the season, but I really don't think she'll attempt them at this competition (especially because of the 2A entry here. She likely wouldn't do that into a 3A). Her jumps still seem a bit wonky, plus there have been no 3A/quad videos from the Shanghai Trophy. She's probably still recovering and taking it easy.

I assume that Medvedeva will easily win this competition. I hope to see good performances from her.
