2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

When GP assignments came out, I remember saying that IDF was the only field without a ladies' triple axel or quad. Someone replied to me and said Alina or Alyona could surprise me, to which I agreed.

So it turns out that I have to eat my words now.

OH MY GOSH!!! THIS LITERALLY THE BEST NEWS TO WAKE UP TO!! YESSS ALENAAA FIGHT FOR THAT THIRD WORLDS SPOT!! I am literally so happy right now, I wasn't expecting her to have her triple axel because I didn't want to give my hopes up. But here we are, so YAY:hap10:

Guys Team Tutberidize is hardcore playing with us. I wouldn't be surprised if Anna adds another quad or if Alina adds a quad.

So Alyona will fight Liza with equal weapons in TES?
Who will prevail in PCS?

Well done to #TeamTutberidzeForProgress to create us this surprise:-)

Kostorka first needs to compete cleanly though...

I don't think that is a surprise ... with her 2A with difficult entry it was a matter of time.... I think with equal TES ... No one can beat Kostornaia ( even with bad judging)... The question is: she is going to do 3A only in the FS or in both program? Because that 3A looks amazing so GOES won't be a problem ... but she will risk it in the SP ( where her program is excellent)?

On the other hand if she do it in the SP ... I think it's because the rate of perfect landing is already 110 % ... Eteri is very smart ...best weapon in Kostornaia is the PCS she won't risk that for a jump that isn't ready

Wait a bit, there might be a "second course" to go with that

It might even be Alina and Alyona instead of Alina or Alyona. :D

F save Anna and Alina my favourites [emoji24] I’m happy for Aliona that she finally has her weapon though. That 3A is so godly!

I think that if Kostornaya's 3A is somewhat stable, she will risk putting it one in each program to get more comfortable with it. The difference of PCS between her and Tuktamysheva should be enough to secure her the win with 2 3A vs 3.

I rescored Alena's SP at the JGPF. Replaced the 2A with the 3A but kept the GOEs and the PCs (32) the same as the judges gave them at the JGPF, the score came out at a 83.... wow. And imagine her score with higher PCs.....

Runthru is said 3A-2T, 3A step out, 2A, 3Lo // 3F-3T, 3F-Eu-3S, 3Lz-3T
So FS planned content probably is 3A+2T 3A 3Lo 3S // 3F+3T 3Lz+2T+2Lo 3Lz

Omg Aliona!! Wow! 3A!! That‘s so unexpected. But I‘m so happy now. I hope she has a great senior debut!

I also think she'll only go for it if the jump is 100% ready, she's known for being very consistent and I don't think they would risk that reputation for a jump with a insufficient success rate. Hard to tell from two videos but looks pretty promising to me.

If Alena skates like how she did at the JGPF I don't know how the judges could hold her PCS down. That performance was so amazingly graceful and elegant. Also at the JGPF she did triple lutz triple toe and at finlandia she will probably do triple flip triple toe. It is a slightly lower base value, but the GOEs should make up for it....I hope

If Alina will come out with the quad... well, I’ll be feeling legitimately sorry for the judges at russian Nationals.
Scoring 4 of them, if they all have a 3A/quad will be impossible.

i doubt she would do it in the SP just yet. I think it would be smart to go clean in the SP, then put 1 or maybe 2 in the LP if she feels she's ready for that. i think she can get relatively close to Liza in the short if they're both clean.

I agree. I don‘t think we‘ve seen a run-through from her SP yet, so we don‘t know but I‘d say consistency there is key. It‘s her first outing as a senior and that SP, when skated cleanly, is an incredible program with incredible quality. She‘s put those 3As out there in practice for the judges to see, so mission accomplished. Updating the SP would only be important later on in the season when she‘s skating against Alina and Rika. For now she needs to build reputation and the best way to do that is consistency + 3A in the FS.

Also: Sima trying 4S? Brave girl!! I hope she makes it, what an awesome story that would be.
