Whether this opinion is right or not - it's another question. They have right to have any opinion, of course. However, the problem is that they allow themselves to express their criticism and downplaying what she shows on the ice -
during her skate - thus ruining the impression of it which could be much better otherwise. Even Yagudin/Averbukh are usually silent during the skate (and commenting maybe only on jumps being done) - allowing viewers to make conclusions themselves. They can be quite rude - but it is usually after the skate when it can't change opinion of a viewer if he liked it already. That's the key difference.
Also, they say that one of commentators on TSN was Tracy Wilson. Don't you think that for her as a current coach of active competing skaters - commenting other skaters performance is just unethical? Imagine Tutberidze criticizing Medvedeva's skate on tv? Or Bradie's? What reaction it would trigger - what do you think?
