2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Skaters are well within their rights to protest

Nothing says they can't or that they shouldn't

If it really is that clearly a deliberate attempt to reduce her score she has every right to protest.

When you need to focus on the next skate, you can't focus on protests and battles with the tech panel. What she needs more, watching the videos for hours and having the mind full of the feeling of injustice or sleep well and try to show them next time? I think the second one is better even if she was right.

Also I doubt it would do a skater any favor even if she would succeed. For the future definitely.

But that doesn't justify dubious decisions. "!" would be strange but I would probably not say anything. Inside is a complete joke.

I found a cherry for the cake. That guy Jeroen Prins. I was trying to remember the name. It sounded somehow familiar to me. And I remembered that I reacted to one of his posts on twitter in 2018.
https://twitter.com/JeroenPrinsNL/status/996122256668577792?s=20

So it was him who sent an urgent proposal to raise the age bar up to 18 in 2018. He is so so neutral and unbiased I can't.

I fail to see how this man is relevant to the Russian ladies.

They can protest to the ISU.

Yuna Kim handled her Sochi silver with grace but the Korean Fed still made a protest to the ISU

So you suggest I should sent a letter to ISU. You know, I'd think I better go and write to that Jeroen Prins a second post. May be it will become a tradtition to write him once a year.
But we are going offtopic now.

No I said the Russian Fed can protest even if publically Alina gracefully accepted her score

Frankly speaking I'm not of very high opinion about Russian Fed. I think even if Alina's lutz was Yuna like outside they would keep quiet.

This is so stupid. We have video showing an angle opposite he edge and a blurry image that doesn’t even show if she is picking in. You can’t see squat “clearly”. The Jerons guy is totally biased but you guys aren’t? Come on. You do this every single time an Eteri skater gets a call.

Well then maybe you should accept it just as no doubt Alina has herself (for whatever reason)?

Your comments against this tech controller guy have made it clear you hold a rather large bias against him, it is not helping your argument

Okay guys I'm just gonna leave u to argue over this [emoji23] I'm going to bed, gotta be up by 5 if i want to get to skating on time tomorrow
Night night

I do not doubt Alina and her decision to act with grace. But once again that doesn't automatically mean the call was legit. I wonder why you try so hard to prove it. You know, after people read our discussion even the less brightest of them will see who you are.

P.S. going off to sleep now, have a wonderful time.

Who I am?

What are you talking about?

Lol...

Who do you think I am?

*Amused*

Anyway...

I am the kind of person who doesn't see evil conspiracies everywhere and understands we, as humans, are not perfect, both skaters and judges make mistakes.

It is most often really just that simple.

Does the panel consider the moment when the toepick first touches the ice or when the blade leaves the ice? I've seen different interpretations before.

Flat to slight inside... her edge has never been truly outside. It is not impossible for the edge to lean inside far enough, just like the judges nobody is immune to errors

Are you talking about Alina's lutz? Because she's never had an inside edge lutz. So maybe you mean slight outside to flat? If not, can you link me to where she leaves the ice on her lutz with an inside edge?

Yes, that is par for the course. Nothing to get surprised about, we will see lots of conspiracy posts over the next few days. I am surprised Alina got an e on her lutz. She hasn't had a truly outside edge (it was slight but it was outside) since the Olympic season but she never got calls last year. Not even ! calls which it looked liked she deserved (from my angle) in ever competition. Surprising that the technical panel went from no call to e. But, she does flutz sometimes. Anyway, I like strict technical panels and this panel was strict with everyone. There were so many UR and edge calls throughout the ladies competition. The TES just kept dropping for all the ladies.

I think I mean very slight outside

Lol

I'm getting a little mixed up, I am super tired and suffering from a long term illness that really messes with my head, I get a bit confused sometimes

However I do think her Lutz edge has got worse over time, more flat than outside and just maybe threatening to go the other way

You'd think anti-Alina fans would stop complaining once she got an "e" on her 3Lz (which is totally strange since Alina has a flat edge) and "<" on her 3Lo but NO. They won't stop until she gets a twenty in PCS.

(not talking about anyone in here ofc, but on many other platforms, people are still calling Alina crazy overscored)

I don't think an edge can ever be more flat than outside lol. It's either more outside than flat (anything from deepest outside to slightest outside) or completely flat.

Anyway, I don't think it would be a smart idea for any of the skaters to protest the scores. In the past, when it has been done, either formally or not, has not been well received. It's not worth it to possibly jeopardize being "blacklisted" by the judges or public to affect future scoring. It's a GP event at which neither of the Russian ladies are at risk of losing a medal. Not an Olympic skate where scores could make a difference in a major medal. It sucks but it's just better for the skaters' futures to move on.

I don't think she's ever flutzed before? Flutz is an inside edge lutz, no? Do you mean unclear edge (flat)?

They think 74 is crazy overscored? Lol

It's madness.

Some people will never stop complaining, nothing will change their bias.

I love Alina, Alena...and a whole bunch of skaters, Russian and other countries. I do not understand the nastiness any skater gets subjected to.
I try to be unbiased and fair, while still recognising the skaters I love are only human and have their strengths, weaknesses, good points and faults just like any one of us
