2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Yawn

You scream conspiracy every competition

This is getting tedious and annoying.

Conspiracy talk isn't even supposed to be allowed here!

Yet we have it every single competition

And even vicious accusations against the technical controller here!

You begin your post with a "yawn", so why did you even bother to reply in the first place? People cannot even challenge the technical controller in this forum? This is a Russian ladies thread, and when Russian girls got bad calls, this is probably one of few places people can voice their concerns, so what's wrong with that?

I've said it many times

Disagree with the judging and the tech calls, not a problem.

Saying you don't agree with the calls and that you don't see the supposed errors? Not a problem, if you read my own posts you will see I generally do not agree with the calls either, they were too harsh.

Endless accusations and conspiracy talk, is a problem.

Such talk is actually against the forum rules, and probably for a very good reason.

Yet people continue to do it, disregarding all efforts to prevent it.

Me too, yet I would anticipate it with much more enthusiasm with the faith in fair scoring.

Let's hope for this. I remember that after weird Lombardia results in the short program the free skate judging made much more sense. So, no more fake edge calls for Alina and dubious URs for Alyona! And let the best win!

By the way, thank you, Nord Stream 2, for my 8888 thumbs up. I am very happy that there is a strong team of Russian ladies supporters on GS now. They are amazing, aren't they?

I dont think so, as I'm very much against those things.

Unless you're saying it is wrong to challenge people who make up conspiracies?

I am a member of the Holocaust Education Trust, part of my actual job includes challenging and refuting Holocaust denial, to properly educate people and to prevent harmful views forming and spreading.

It isn't the same thing, I know, but conspiracy theories can be very harmful and lead to a lot of serious issues, no matter what the conspiracy theory itself is even about.

So why shouldn't people who disagree with all sorts of conspiracy theories challenge them?

Is it wrong that people challenge your challenges? Also, it is very inappropriate for you to use the type of your job in this context.

Their favorite pastime it seems.

I think it‘s cute. They gleefully proclaim her “yesterday‘s child“ and yet can‘t help but bring her into each and every of their post. Can‘t y‘all decide already? Is she “out“ or not?

I don't think that if something bothers you, it bothers "people on this forum". yes, some disagrees, some agrees. That's the point of having discussion.

I don't think that pointing on cases that really happened is "groundless claim" (that's how conspiracy is defined here).

I don't think that anybody in the discussion should behave like an arbiter.

Idk what you‘re on about but there are rules on this forum and they say not to create any conspiracy theories. And what you are all doing here, acting as if the judges deliberately underscored ONLY Eteri skaters and intentionally overscored Mariah Bell or saying that the technical specialist was biased against Aliona because of her age.. you have no proof whatsoever for any of these accusations, so yes, I dare say they‘re uncalled for and in fact, “groundless claims“. I disagreed with the judging too. And saying they got it wrong is nothing bad, we do it all the time. But things just get out of hand here. The thread is derailing so much it‘s not funny anymore. Russian ladies are winning everything this season. Shouldn’t you be happy? Instead there‘s whining and crying about judging after every single competition. I understand it to some degree, the judging is weird this season. But you‘re truly reaching a level I can only shake my head at. :noshake:

Here, let‘s look at the beauty that is Aliona‘s 3A instead:

Ooooh I really love Zhenya, don't you? I think she is a wonderful skater [emoji12]🤭

The Russian ladies are all wonderful skaters, Zhenya as well, of course. Thanks for trying to change the topic. And yes, I rather like pizza too. :laugh2:

It is not a conspiracy to think and say they were wrong

It is one to say it is part of a deliberate attempt to underscore/hold down a skater or have some sort of bias against them.

Of course genocide is different to figure skating judging but conspiracies exist about both.

I particularly didn't participate in any conspiracy discussion. If you want you can open a thread "Conspiracies in Figure skating. The truths and lies. Reality or witch-hunting" you could have a nice constructive debate there. The Marias Terezas of RL thread above are complaining that the thread is all about conspiracies so it will be a nice idea.

It is not inappropriate at all. That is my own experience with dealing with conspiracy theories, and although it is a very sensitive subject, the methods and tactics of conspiracy theorists can be applied to completely different topics.

The topic of conspiracy is inappropriate itself as there is a policy against it here...again I ask why should everyone have to put up with people disregarding rules and hijacking threads with inappropriate topics?

Conspiracy talk is not even permitted on the forum. I think it is obvious why it isn't.
Why should people have to put up with behaviour that the rules themselves do not allow?

I checked Russian sites. As I expected the outcry about judging is massive. Multiple threads have been opened with very harsh titles. It looks like we are a not just a couple of GS folks who have eyes and did not believe what they were told. So much for naming it "conspiracy theories".

I underlined the bias and a valid explanation for why your conspiracy theory exists.

Using Russian sites as proof of a conspiracy against Russians is like using anti-semitic sites to claim Jews are evil.

Well, let's wait and see the free program which will be interesting for sure. The calls could have been unfair, but strict calls may happen in other competitions as well. Maybe it'll show the girls which elements to work on and fix smallest mistakes so even the most zealous controllers can't call them.

Also, why is all blame on Prins? Doesn't a call happen when at least 2 TP members agree? Maybe someone can explain their work here or show where to find such information.

Either Alyona or Alina will win, they're 1-2 after the short and have enough of a cushion and base value advantage over the rest. So even if this Prins guy was corrupt he must be absolutely terrible at being a moustache twirling evil guy.

This anti-Russian "conspiracy" is failing badly because by the end of today all THREE GP events so far will have been won by a Russian with TWO others on the podium at TWO events

Lol

You can't argue with the obvious. They're head and shoulders above everyone else.
But.. don't get so excited. ISU is doing everything it can to keep figure skating a popular and Olympic sport. Tutberidze's huge tug left everyone else on the sidelines. Europe is at the bottom. America is there, but trying to resist. Almost without success. Japan is just Rika. Is it any wonder the desire of the ISU to support the underdogs? They change the rules, they work with the judges, they try as they can to do at least something. But they can't. The state financing of primary children's sports in Russia surpasses everything. The most talented children go further. Who will watch GPF in 5 years where in all four disciplines there will be only Russians?

It's a shame that our young beauties have to pay for all this with their nerves.
