2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Of course it could also be that the ISU watched the Skate America and Skate Canada results and saw that some calls were not being made and reminded the tech panels for France and China that they were not to overlook such calls.

Maybe it is actually that Skate America and Skate Canada tech panels missed calls rather than France and China made up calls just to... cause Russian ladies to not win by such huge margins?

What you did there, is a conspiracy theory.

Maybe lets wait in which GP this will end, to have a better picture. I don't think anyone is holding anyone.

Can you pin point exact users who are making up conspiracies? I haven’t read any in the last few pages, but there you are addressing “all” and saying “all are making up conspiracies”.

Most have been deleted by moderators because it is supposed to be against the rules

Yet every single competition brings out a tidal wave of this stuff.

Disagreeing with the judges is alright, so is agreeing with them.

But the endless theories are ruining the threads for many people and exactly why the posts are vanishing

No

A conspiracy is a deliberate attempt to make something happen by conspiring against [insert reason].

In this case against a skater or certain skaters.

ISU asking for more strictness is not a conspiracy. It would be to gain some consistency in the judging

Missing calls could easily be an innocent mistake and not a conspiracy at all

How exactly is that a conspiracy theory? I'm pointing out that there are other alternatives to "everyone is out to get us". I'm simply providing another explanation as to why some calls were made in China and France that were not made earlier in the year.

Zounger (the first part is not to you) I agree that we need to see how it will end before we decide. I still think the GPF is going to be mostly Russian ladies and I think that is how it should deservedly be. They are the best skaters right now. I'd like to see Rika also get in. I would expect the GP champion to be one of the Russian Ladies as well as the WC. I'd be shocked by any other result. Not because it is rigged for them to win or anything but because they are the best.

Skaters getting certain calls never deserve them... they're perfect

I look at this whole topic like this.

It's a sport. In any sport there are lots of referee's calls. Some go your way, some go against you. Some are judgment calls that can go either way, some are diagnosed post-mortem as mistakes by the referees. The successful athlete is the one who understands this reality, takes the ups with the downs, and it's on to next week's game!

Bottom line, the job of the athlete is to to seize control of the game and remove the outcome from the hands of the referee. Anna did exactly that at Cup of China. She brought the goods; there was nothing the judges could do to deny her the victory. On to the Finals!

Exactly.

Even with errors she was way above the others.

They also made errors but could not make up for them the way the Eteri girls can.

Then your vouching towards those people is pointless and outdated, as I haven’t seen anything like that being posted in few recent hours.

Talking about whether judges are getting some „memos“ behind the scenes is a speculation made by you and to me, sounds like a conspiracy :)

Learn the meaning of conspiracy

What conspiracy would it be?

"Come on judges stop ignoring people's errors, fans are complaining you're all blind!" is not a conspiracy. It's advice.

Of course some of you think they're blind no matter which way they judge so I wouldn't blame the ISU if they throw up their arms and go

"Just do whatever because some people will never ever be satisfied anyway"

Every time I think this thread has reached a limit, it shows a new kind of crazy. Astonishing.

I don' t know. What AncientPeas speculated about was a "theory," but I wouldn't call it a "conspiracy" theory. In context, a theory is just a possible explanation of events, but a "conspiracy theory" usually involves a claim that someone is up to no good, singling out a particular skater to unfairly pick on, etc.

If people are here labeling any even potential disagreement with the judging as being a „conspiracy“, it‘s also sometimes fun to label some other things the same way.

#TeamTutberidzeForProgress doesn't fight those windmills, it creates a wind of its own and tries to stay on the windward side, sailing comfortably on high winds into their safe harbour.

They might find the need of fair and consequent calls useful, just like any program director should. Face your deficiencies, work on them, acknowledge your mistakes, learn from them, new goals to achieve, even after a gold medal competitions. The only right way is forwards, #TeamTutberidzeForProgress forever :-)

I suppose but theres so much of that talk around it is hard to know who is being serious and who isn't

I don't know who is the best we had "the best ever thread" and still there were a lot of opinions who is the best. By scores yes maybe they are good, it doesn't matter much. I will check what will happen to the next GPs and then I will make my conclusions. For me, Kaori, Young You, Rika, Bradie are very good skaters, on par with the Russians on their "objective" or objective quality of skating. But you have to deliver as well.

Just as when you err at work your boss will tell you and expect change the ISU no doubt does the same with judges and tech panels (we, in fact, know they do by looking at some of the memos and decisions to exclude judges). If your boss doing so is amounts to a conspiracy against you then.. well...I guess you are correct and I have put forth a conspiracy theory. Bad, bad me.

Judges are independent from ISU, aren’t they? They aren’t paid, they’re not ‚hired‘ they’re volunteers.
