2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I thought Sofia was much better today. The jumps were better and she had better energy. She fought for the entire program.
Liza, well, I think she does what she wants and skates on her own terms. Perhaps Mishin offers input, but I get the impression she constructs the programs exactly as she wishes them to be, and no coach is going to have much of an impact at this point.
S.Konstaninova-I don't get it. She looks the same as last year-she is fit (and beautiful!)-so what is going wrong?-what has gone wrong between this year and last? Was she injured? It is honestly like she has just given up.

It is not impossible, especially if Anna makes mistakes. She has been quite consistent with her 4Lz though, so far. I have a feeling Anna will be looking to add a different quad, to stay competitive with Sasha especially.

She mentioned after GP China that she would look at training different elements with the long break between competitions. Both her and Trusova's first real element of their SP is their double axel, they wouldn't have to re-work the layout for that double to become a triple; additionally Anna's FS - she does her 2 quad lutz passes and then a light choreographic sequence followed up by 2 stand-alone double axels, it seems like 1 could easily be switched out for a triple or a different quad.

I really like Konstaninova but both her and Kolyada (not a Russian lady but same coach) are lovely to watch, but they both suffer from some kind of mental block or paralysis when it comes competition time

Liza's programs definitely have that Mishin style.

As for Stastya... she's always struggled with her consistency and skating clean under pressure. I think her less than stellar European Championships and not going to Worlds damaged for confidence a lot.
Now this season the mistakes are piling up and once that happens, it has really got to her, and is so hard to stop the downwards slide.

It will be interesting to see how Konstantinova and Sotskova do at nationals. Right now, unfortunately it seems they are both fighting for the last two places. Knowing the pressure the skaters have in Russia I wouldn't be surprised if one or both of them WD, but I would like for them to prove us wrong. C'mon girls. You can do it!

Somewhat offtopic but there's not better place to say it, but the frequency of rather off putting remarks said in Russian media by major figures(including official ones) is getting way too frequent. I attribute this to a more intense news environment that people want their names in. Some things are best not said or said in private. You can't assume anything you say won't be translated into English.

If you’re about Yagudin, then best not to bring it here, since it was not related in any manner to russian ladies. The Rika thing is in the other thread
We can however bring up Slutskaya, lol, but it’s just a prime example of some older skaters lacking some filter sometimes

I love that people complain about Alina's 73 PCS for a jump-focused program even with the expressiveness in the step sequence. Where as no one said anything about Evgenia's 74 PCS for a entirely jump-focused program last week. If that's not biased, idk what is. Tbh they probably both have scores that are a bit high but they have the reputation, and their compatriots weren't completely clean, either.

Evgenia didn't have an entirely jump focused program. Her choreo is much better, much better interpretation and her SS are definitely better than Zagitova with her choppy crossovers and hunched back

Interesting...

People used to say "If the QQ delivers, she's unbeatable. If she fails, a lot of other skaters have their chances."

But it's pretty generic and not related to FS only. Quite frequently the favorite in top conditions wins, but being sick, not ready or whatever opens the gate and makes a lot of opportunities.
The today's BV (SP+FP combined) is high enough to compensate any PCS greediness. Her potential BV with 3A in SP and FP (no 2x jumps!) only helps.

But only when delivered, yes? Unfortunately the same is correct for others too!
Any contender willing to attack QQ has to do her best and not only being grateful for QQ's fails. Just remember, she used to win even after a major crash (sometimes two).

Now I'm curious... what did Irina say?

Just a reminder, 5th stage of Russian Cup girls and women's free program is on 15 minutes countdown: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc04cHwOLSM , yesterday's short programs were very interesting, and some skaters need to deliver good performances today to advance into the Russian Cup Finals.

Startlist in KMS girls: https://fsrussia.ru/results/1920/5etap/SEG010.HTM
Startlist in MS women: https://fsrussia.ru/results/1920/5etap/SEG012.HTM

In the girls, Sof'ya Samodelkina fell on her triksel yesterday, will she try to make a come back in the free?
Top contender Maya Khromykh, will she complete her newly learned quad Salchow?
What exquisite routines will Sof'ya Muravyova, Yelizaveta Osokina, Alina Gorbachyova and Dar'ya Loboda show us, yesterday's standouts?

In the women, will Anastasiya Tarakanova have a clean and satisfying skating run?
Will Anna Frolova be able to top her rink mate?
Will Serafima Sakhanovich be able to top her younger compatriots?

Not yet bored of figure skating? There is also Aksel Cup from Kazan and Ice Academy Cup streaming live simultaneously.

Plus Inna Goncharenko is being interviewed live on Sport Express, which is always most interesting to fans of Russian figure skating since the programs of the GP contestants are being critically analysed.

I have the stream up now

I really need to learn some Russian lol

Thankyou!

I am picking up a few words, the tech score box and the scores boxes are not hard to figure out.

I like the way they show the scoring at the end of each program
