2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

So, if it ridiculous, what causes such behavior from your point of view? For ridiculous behavior should be some reasons. Just think about it, why in all other cases intelligent and classy Zhenia did not talk with Eteri in person?

Oh, come on, do I really have to explain that now? Look, it‘s obviously a force of nature, a natural process that no one can stop!

Children grow into adults. And just like this, students of Eteri become childish, lazy, unreliable and untrustworthy. But only as soon as they leave her, you see. It‘s a necessary requirement for this evolution to take place as before they‘re the most mature and hardworking athletes you could possibly imagine! But such is the tragedy of life. What can Eteri do? It‘s nature, not her fault that her students all miraculously turn into bad human beings with awful mothers and an even more awful chronic lack of flowers. She just suffers the consequences, don‘t you want to pity her?

(And no, I don‘t feel sorry. This is the only reaction I can give if I come into this thread, expecting some hot tea served by TAT, Plushenko or Eteri only to find boooring old discussions of immature Zhenya leaving Eteri immaturely like the immature human being she is)

I don’t think Eteri had anything to do with Trusova’s program and the excess of quads. That is on Trusova- I think she does as she wishes, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead. I’ve heard from multiple sources Trusova is very stubborn.

It's not just about winning with Trusova, she loves to compete with herself and land all these difficult jumps.

She seemed not too disappointed with 3rd at GPF, she didn't land her 3A or all her quads but she will just try again next time.

She does listen to her coaches though, like at Rostelecom she was talked into dropping her troublesome loop combo in the SP...but Sasha being Sasha kept it in the FS and fell.

No loop combo at GPF either.

That you don't contribute into at all, right?

C'mon, just take last four cases - Zhenya, Polina, Nastya, Daria Panenkova. So far I didn't hear Eteri nor anybody of her team talking about them being lazy, unreliable and untrustworthy and about Zhenya there was only one mention of "childish reaction". You people still complain this is discussed again and again in RLT, but it is you or skaingfan or draculus or some others (who also complain about this) who are bringing it here over and over.

I think this could help :)

Now I hope everybody is happy and we can talk about present and future.

Less than perfect? Not a lawyer but in Germany we call it "Rufmord".

and Evgenia made a calculated move of breaking the contract without notice, in Germany you would call it breaking the Kündigungsfrist.

/yeah, that's a joke, don't take it seriously/
Just chill everyone.

Hiding behind smilies just shows that you do not have an answer and cannot provide any argument. And, btw, it applies to Polina as well, who "gave flowers".

If you answered the message it means it's not so boring to you.

Still TAT got support in another indiscriminate patriotic/idiotic loud mouth from TV commenting: https://www.sports.ru/biathlon/1081449069.html, trashing the online petition and its supporters. More old guard getting hot under the collar in their comfortable positions.

After reading what Guberniyev said, I'm not surprised why a lot of viewers want TAT and her foul-mouthed coterie gone from 1TV and other channels.

But if I compare her expressions e.g. with Moskvina, who is the same generation, the difference in objectivity is enormous.

That's an understatement of the year! :) Apt comparison of Moskvina's or Chaikovskaya's class vs. TAT would be Mount Everest and Mariana Trench.

Anyway. It’s time to move on from this topic.
Sinitsina and Vasilieva are named to the YOG!
What a year for Vasilieva, who thinks she’s going senior next season?
Nice.

The strongest delegation possible, and they earned it fair and square. Sorry for Tarakanova though, she fought hard as well and is now left without any chance of earning some credits this season.

Good to hear Kanysheva is eager to return. Her rink mates probably have quite some tale to tell her during their first morning stretching session together ;-)

She didn't elaborate on her condition, but the clinic's IG gives you an indication of their specialty: https://www.instagram.com/anestaclinic/ , many of which are inline with sports injuries or growth problems in young persons.

Their palliatric department gave me a scare though, because, yes, even children die from serious illness.
interesting.

Polina Tsurkasya openly spoke with Eteri about leaving and they (according to Polina's own words) spent very nice time in just talking about everything. Zhenya was 18, an adult, when she left, BTW.

Genarally this has nothing to do particularly with Zhenya-Eteri relationship, in my country we are also not that overprotective that we would think that non adults or young adults have totally zero responsibility, duties or dignity. You can work since 15 but you are not able to talk with your coach about leaving? That would totally go behind the athlete, not the coach, that's just ridiculous.
Not this again!

That was very mature of Polina. But maybe she's more thoughtful and considering than most.
If Dmitri Aliev retires tomorrow, would Mishin wish him good luck in his future as a father and grandfather?

I don't know lol

Maybe?

It's not quite the same, is it? I mean Dmitri could become a father and still continue his skating career with no physical change to himself or expectations to be a stay at home parent.
Good point.

I like this analogy. It's very accurate is well from all I know and from all I hear.

Well, if you‘re talking to me, just clarifying here that my post was purely and entirely sarcasm, so it wasn‘t intended to provide arguments or meant to be particularly serious. And I wasn‘t intending to hide behind smilies either...

I‘m a Zhenya fan and I‘ve been on this forum for over a year now (which still isn‘t all too long). During this time span and the about two dozens of times this discussion has come up, I‘ve defended Zhenya passionately, angrily, with rational arguments and with “emotional reactions“. So, forgive me, if yes, I do become bored of this discussion and talking to the very same people about the very same thing knowing that on this topic we will never agree anyway.

If you‘re a Zhenya fan, though, you‘re very welcome to join us in her fanfest. Last time I checked we were discussing the new merch she‘s been starting to sell. :)

Quad toe looks good but the wobbly ankle on the landing gives me insane anxiety

Same. Insane rotation speed and quite good height but only watching that landing made my knees and joints hurt. Ouch.

Anyone excited for the Russian Nationals?

We have 18 fierce ladies battling it out.

Here's how I rank them (for now)

1. Anna Shcherbakova (if she lands that 4F)
2. Alena Kostornaia (will all her 3A's be clean?)
3. Alexandra Trusova (needs to land 4 quads)
4. Elizaveta Tuktamysheva (will she try that 4T?)
5. Evgenia Medvedeva (needs to be superclean, can she do it?)
6. Ksenia Sinitsyna (this is her chance to shine)
7. Ksenia Tsibinova (new girl on the block, can she deliver?)
8. Anastasia Tarakanova (needs a clean skate)
9. Anastasia Gubanova (can go higher if she's on)
10. Viktoria Vasilieva (has the potential to go higher)
11. Anastasia Gulyakova (needs the best skate of the season)
12. Elizaveta Nugumanova (please, no URs, please)
13. Serafima Sakhanovich (hasn't really proven herself yet this season, can she do it now?)
14. Sofia Samodurova (needs to fight those URs and get the fire back)
15. Anna Frolova (can she hold up under pressure?)
16. Stanislava Konstantinova (if she can hold it together, she might be Top6)
17. Valeria Shulskaya (new girl, has she the nerves for it?)
18. Maria Talalaykina (been shaky so far, can she improve?)

It will be a wonderful event I'm sure. :jaw::rock::cheer::popcorn::curse::eeking::hap93::coffee:

I feel kinda bad for Panova’s Snow Leopards club (I probably got that name wrong.) The club has some really talented kids but the scores don’t show it; they are way behind Sambo 70. It makes me upset for them.

Thanks for listing all the ladies competing. 😊 I am familiar with all except Tsibinova and Shulskaya. How old are they? Who coaches them?
