Shoma Uno to train under Lambiel

I think this’ll be good. Uno already has the jumps but it seems like he just needs support.

I am not sure how "good" of a coach Lambiel is but I think the support will be good for Shoma. I thought Lambiel might be a better choroegrapher but we'll see. You see hi popping up all over the place like a weed so to speak - he is all over the kiss and cry. Maybe he is new Brian Orser.. I think he has a wonderful personality and he is a great support person which serves him well. time will tell. But maybe the season can be saved.I was worried he would be left off the Japanese team if he didn't get it together quickly. I appreciate he might have been tired of being soclose to the gold or podium but he was heading in the wrong decision.

The news I was waiting for!!! I believe Shoma chose the best environment for him!

Yesssss! Shoma in Champéry full time with Stéphane:hap85:

Given Shoma’s recent travels and challenges, I am glad that he has settled on a coach. I think the inviting and supportive atmosphere at Champéry will be good for him:)

I am so happy about this becoming *almost* official :luv17: I agree Stephane and Team Champery is an ideal environment for him. It's far away from all the media shenanigans, and having already learnt all the jump skills and they are in his bones, what he needs the most is the morale support and guidance to keep him in check (easy on games! etc. ) in a positive atmosphere.
This is the first challenge for Stephane to full-time coach an established top-notch skater, and by redirecting Shoma to his winning ways, his stock will definitely go up significantly.
Perhaps Deniss can learn a thing or two from him in his quest to those elusive quads.
It will be a win-win situation for everyone involved!

This whole saga has been unfortunate, especially because it feels like after the disaster in France he hurriedly signed on with the next coach he had lined up to visit. It seemed at the outset like the reason for looking for a new coach was to try to improve jump consistency, but Lambiel is not the sort of coach you go to for that; the things Lambiel is an expert in, Shoma was already good at.

Good luck to Shoma in Stephane's team. I am not sure he is the right coach to fix any jump issues and his skaters haven't been too stable with their jumps of late, but I guess Shoma knows exactly what he wants and he's found it with this team. When it comes to support he comes as close to Shoma's previous coach as can be.

Wow the KnCs are going to be adorable!! :luv17:

I hope Shoma gets the support he needs with Stephané, I'm not sure what his set up is...maybe there's a jump coach he can go to as well?

Well, Shoma is probably to old to relearn the jumps and if he is willing to settle for bronze from now on, it can work.
I am just confused by this decision, because he made it sound after leaving his coaches (or whatever happened back then) that he was to train with the best skaters. No offense, but the level of the skaters at Champery...he can find similar ones in Japan and omit the language barrier with coach altogether.
But maybe Lambiel will become a new Tarasova as a good finishing coach. :2thumbs:

Shoma landed his 4Lo and 4S in practice today along with his 4T and 4F. He hasn't lost anything:)

Damn. He really wants to make a statement here. I haven't seen him land a 4S in a while, and a 4Lo in even longer than that.

He will only jump the 4T and 4F in his programs according to an interview, however, seeing him jump a beautiful 4Lo today, which I last saw during the Olympic season I think, is really a statement :D

I was confused by the words Lambiel was using to encourage Shoma in the kiss n cry so I'm not sure this is exactly what Shoma was looking for when he set out to find a new coach but I'm just glad he has one again and hopefully some stability.

I’m not understanding the negativity:confused:

Shoma is a grown adult. I don’t see him rushing into anything, I don’t see him selecting a coach just to have a coach, (or else he would have had one long before now) and Stéphane seems like a good fit. IMO, Shoma needs the support and stability that Champéry offers, and not a jumping clinic.

Besides, it’s the most gorgeous training center of any of the ones I’ve seen:biggrin:
