Twenty years to the day when he won his first World title, Stephane Lambiel, much loved two-time World Champion and Olympic silver medallist from Torino 2006, currently a successful coach and choreographer, is looking back on his career and around on the current condition of the sport in this interview with "Europe On Ice".
“I don’t know if it’s because skating has not inspired me lately, but I enjoyed it much more as a skater [than as a coach],” he said. “It looked more charismatic."
Lambiel looks back on his early days and days of glory, pointing to his biggest inspirations on the way - Yagudin-Plushenko rivalry which inspired him a lot as a young skater, his main rivals and skating friends to this day, Jeffrey Buttle and Daisuke Takahashi, and his post-retirement inspiration, Yuzuru Hanyu
