2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

What are her options in St. Petergurg (if she stays there)? Mishin (I bet improbable), Rukavicin (more probable), Turenko (don't know wherher she still coaches?), who else?

RAF? for he dislikes young disposables and can thinks he still will work wonders with a skater like Konstantinova ....

Stanislava is a university student, good in English, seems to have made some friends at her last succesfull competition in the USA earlier. And can have a commercial show career in the USA I think. Or perhaps will want to work with Cirque du Soleil in Canada?

I'm not sure whether she has financial capacities for such move. And to be honest, Raf is very strict and unforgivable coach, I'm not sure whether Stasya's relatively fragile personality would cope with him. But it would be an interesting development.

Turenko still coaches Serafima Sakhanovich and Elizavita Nugamanova as far as I know.

Isn’t Plushenko in St Petersburg?

Nugumanova is with Rukavicin now. I thought Sima as well, but true, she is with Turenko.

Plushenko's Academy resides in Moscow.

We don't yet know who initiated the break up and the reasons they gave.

Coach unsatisfied with the performance of her ward,
skater unsatisfied with the coaching she received?

I think we can agree on the observation Stanislava has had a dramatic season and sunken into a depression.
Her position on the national selection might even be in jeopardy given the revised criteria recently published.

More first hand news probably in the local Piter press, unless SE etc. have a better lead.

I don't get the idea of moving to a 'lesser' coach is considered a degradation. A good, positive and productive working relationship is more imporant than keeping up appearances.

FFKKR by Kogan declined any comments since they don't know anything more:

"he Russian Figure Skating Federation does not currently have information.

“We do not have such official information yet,” said Aleksandr Kogan, FFKKR's General Director.

In the season 2018/2019, Konstantinova took 4th place in the Russian Championship, beating Alina Zagitova. Then she became fourth at the European Championships.

This season, the results of 19-year-old St. Petersburg dropped. At major competitions, she did not comply with the standards for joining the national team: 11th place in two stages of the Grand Prix and 13th place in the Russian Championships.

The last chance to save Konstantinova in the Russian national team is getting into the Top-5 finals of the Russian Cup, which will be held from February 18 to 22 in Veliky Novgorod."

Meaning she is most likely out.

So in that sense, yes I’m happy that they will suffer embarrassment if she performs poorly.

Yikes....that’s such a mean thing to say. I hope you know that these kids all work their tails off to get the opportunities they do. How you can be “happy” to see someone fail because it fits your personal vendetta is such a bad look for figure skating fandom in general. Oof ...I’m like :noshake:

Thx...I feel really dumb. I only got 1 out of 3 of my own statements correct :slink:

If you go 1 for 3 in Major League Baseball you can become a Hall of Fame player. ;) But don't worry saying we still want you to report on competitions all around Russia. Because your reports are second to none..

I thought Stasya loved her coach Valentina. But maybe too many years together and she needs a change. I think she will stay in St. Petersburg partly because she has a little sister and will want to be around her as she grows up. A good landing spot for her would be with Nastya G's new coach. Stasya knows many people there and she's not one who likes to be uncomfortable in new surroundings.

Stasya needs to go either to Eteri or to Hamada.

Or a federation change.

I have no idea why people seriously consider Mishin, first of all, I doubt he has any desiree to save anybody's career anymore and secondly Liza herself said that she doesn't like 'Team Tutberidze style' competition.

I hope on good terms

I cannot imagine Stanislava leaving on bad terms.. It's just not her nature. I am sure she gave her coach of many years flowers.

As for Stasya if she wants to continue her competitive career she needs to stay away from Elena Germanova. ;)

and the point is...?

Fast forward a season and... you will have 3A+Valieva, Usacheva, Liza and probably even Sonya and Kromykh (tbh I doubt both, one due to her obvious problems on jumps and the other because of her height) doing ultra C.

Long story short if You are a Russian lady, you need a quad or 3A to stay alive. Is Raf going to have Stasya, whose height is almost 170cm as his first lady student to jump ultra C? I doubt that.

Considering that Gubanova was too out of shape for Buyanova... I doubt that is even option for Stasya.

Stasya and Eteri would be a very interesting combination. But I have my doubts if stanislava is tough enough for this incredible coach who is very rough on her students.

Considering that Gubanova was too out of shape for Buyanova... I doubt that is even option for Stasya.

Why? Stasya Is in great shape physically. She does not have the not in shape issues Nastya had last summer. Nastya actually performed pretty well for Buyanova.

Is Stasya skating in the Russian Cup final? If so. She would need a coach by then. I would think.

Not that I wouldn't be interested whether Eteri would be able to give stability to Stasya, but I'm afraid the problems would be similar to what I've written about Raf.. Also I don't know whether Stasya would be able to work in highly competitive environment.

As for Hamada, well, while people can spend hours and days talking about how "inhuman" russian coaches are, Hamada stands aside, while I don't think her methods are exacly "humane" (Oda's case).

Eteri doesn't need or want someone like Stasya. Not a chance in the world that she would take on an ancient (by her standards) well-known headcase - come on, she doesn't have time to waste coddling anyone.

Anyway, this article says she didn't leave:

Apparently Konstantinova didn't leave?

The director of the school of the Olympic Figure Skating Reserve in Sankt Peterburg Ta'tyana Menshikova denied the R-Sport information about the departure of 19-year-old Stanislava Konstantinova from the group of Valentina Chebotaryova.

“ Stanislava is still listed in our school, in the group of Valentina Mikhailovna Chebotaryova. There were no applications for leaving the school, ” Menshikova told TASS.

“ Stanislava stopped training for a while, that’s true, but she trained under the leadership of Chebotaryova two or three weeks ago. “

Konstantinova herself told TASS today that “ she returned to training after a forced break ”.

So a rumour running wild quickly refuted?

We'll see in the Cup Final in a week.

Stasya has been the most depressing surprise this season. I really thought she was on to something good but the whole season just fell apart.

I remember seeing her at Nepela Memorial, and she (and Sotskova) had a terrible skate. I really thought that Stasya would come back after that but no...
Turns out that Nepela Memorial is Stasya's (and Sotskova's) seasons best results.

I really hope that her career will continue and that she finds a good coach.
