2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Besides the Russian girls who did great at Junior worlds how did the rest of the Russian team do at Junior worlds including Diana? Thanks in advance.

You can check every result by yourself:

In short, Russian won all categories except the ice dance, got three golds, two silvers and three bronzes. Diana/Gleb were 5th.
Thanks for the link.

Very good. So many good Juniors. I guess that's a pretty good result for Diana.

It seems like Russia has sort of rebuilt itself on the junior level in all four disciplines. I guess dance is the weakest of the four disciplines followed by boys. Girls and pairs have unbelievable. depth

Well, regarding Ice Dance: as far as I know, Kazakova and Reviya are former russians and also train in Moscow I think

So the decision by FFKKR to send Maya Khromykh to Junior World Championships over Kseniya Sinitsyna proved the right one.

Maya fought for her every element both in the qualifications at Russian National Championships and in the World Championships.

Kseniya, who I thought would be a lock and able to displace a higher ranked junior from her excellent Open Test Skates performances, never competed with the same attack and authority since, and seems to have regressed even in spirit.

In a sense we are at a loss when only one rink is representing the federation, but it is what it is.
The Tutberyats are just stronger, more determined competitors, hardened, toughened, able to bounce back, to collect themselves when it matters.

None of the girls wants to be less compared to the others.

Dar'ya skating at her very best under enormous pressusre right after Kamila's world championships skating run just testifies of her character, a character raised by her trainers collective and nurtured by her parents.

You can't ever truly say how would Ksenia skate in Tallinn, but Maiia did well considering the pressure, the strength of the starting field and that some people predicted her to be a disaster :) More than that she is improving gradually. Daria also hugely improved in stability of her jumps. After not completely satisfying SP both girls delivered their SB in the free, that shows strentgh of their characters.

As expected, Anastasia Tarakanova got kicked out from the SB24 and
has no longer any chance of getting a senior GP spot next year

Only ONE event left - World Championships

Top 24 in the SB list, except juniors (J), are guaranteed at least one spot at the senior GP next year
Last year, to be in the Top 24 in the Seasons Best List you had to score 196.34.

This is so unfortunate. She was such a standout even amongst the long list of Russian girls who were never able to fully capitalize on their immense talent. How many JGPF medalists never got a single senior GP assignment? Maybe Anastasia can do challengers next season to up her seasons best to have a shot the following season? But then of course that will be Olympic season where Kamila, Daria, Maiia, etc. will turn senior.

Gubanova was the JGPF silver medalist a year before Tarakanova and she also has never received a Grand Prix assignment.

I note that if Maya landed her 4S with a slight plus (which she certainly can do), she could even be here with silver. But alas, next time.

The Russian world of figure skating is extremely competitive after all. Gubanova was JGPF silver medalist and broke two world records, but two less than desirable performances at nationals left her off the World Team. As a second year junior she failed to make the podium at her JGP assignment and was not given a second one. Despite doing amazing at junior nationals, RusFed gave the Worlds spot to Stasya Konstantinova. So, had Nastya Gubanova had more success in her second year as a junior, I think she would've gotten a GP. It looks to me like Nastya Tarakanova is falling into the same trap which is so unfortunate because she deserves a GP. I wish Russia could get more GP spots so they could send all of the ladies that deserve GP to one, but alas, that would require the Russians to have like thirty GP spots.

Thanks. But they don't count if they're former Russians.
Yeah but ironically I heard in their fan thread that they were rejected by RUSFED so they switched nationality to Georgia. So I'd say they fall into the Russian talent pool so to say.

I suppose so.

Hope Kamila doesn't get bored having to stay can Juniors another season. Who knows how great she can become? Is pretty close to the level of Aliona now. Both have God-given gifts at intuition you cannot teach.

Maybe they can use next year to give her some different themed programs; her programs while lovely have all been very similar in the theme/style of music.

Time schedule for senior worlds:
http://www.isuresults.com/schedules/WC2020_ColouredTimeSchedule.pdf

For me it's little depressing because ladies short and free will be fininshing sometimes around 4 a.m. :hopelessness:
That is why Skate Canada is always my least favorite competition time wise :drama:. It's always night in Europe when comps are in Canada *sigh* Guess I'll either have to ditch sleep or hope that the events are still online the day afterwards and do not disappear like some of the other streams.

Well, if you meant that "rebuilt"= stable domination in juniors many years in a row already - then you probably right

Nastya was better than Stasya as a junior. The quality of the skating and the results there was no question who is better. It was simply political games in Stanislovas favor. Nastya actually did better in Senior Nationals then Junior Nationals one year they just ignored that. The FED does what they want.

Nastya at 14 and 15 was outstanding in Russian senior Nationals. But she of course got nothing for it. Stasya as much as I like her did not take advantage of her opportunities the past few years. That's putting it mildly. Now the door is shut on Anastasia. it must feel very bad to be 17 and know your competitive career is basically over before she had a chance. Same for Dasha. Now what of Nastya T? They can't all go to other countries. But I am surprised more of them do not change countries. especially if they get to still train in Moscow or st. Petersburg and just represent another country in competition. Both Nastyas owe the Fed nothing. Maybe its time to move on. If Shabotova and others can do it why not them?

ISU will lose fans over the years with their decrepit ancient way of sending athletes to competition. they certainly do not send the best the way tennis and golf do. getting the international skating union to better their sport is like spitting into the wind. It doesn't work.
