who got host spot this season?
now I will have to respectfully disagree here. You are entitled to your opinion but so am I, so I think that what Kiira is trying to get through is not that the Russians are bad and abusive and she is jealous that she could never reach that level of success in her long career but that there is a systematic problem in sports like figure skating and gymnastics. Now I understand that her comments and those of many others will come across as jealous and anti-Russian, but that isn't their intent at all. There are problems in other countries too, like Japan and the Hamada situation, whatever was going on with Raf, etc. It's just that this is happening and Russia is the most powerful right now and there are allegations so the attention goes to them but Korpi and the other people aren't trying to target Russians. Because like it or not, doing 5 quads in a program (Trusova, Shcherbakova...) at 15 has a different effect on the human body than doing triple-triple combinations and maybe working a triple axel, like per say, Mana Kawabe. If the Japanese or Korean girls start doing things at the same numbers and we hear the same things about the number of repetitions that they are being forced to do, then the attention will turn to them as well.

Kiira (and her followers) definitely doesn't adress just quads specifically, it's nothing more than a part of the bussiness. After all, she's "concerned" about skaters who did not jump quads at all as well, as long as they are just Russians and esp. Eteri students. Just read the words in the article. "By that stage, their bodies may have changed dramatically and Tutberidze may have moved on to her next project." It's completely biased, uninformed, superficial, blinded attitude, it's about Eteri (or about how lady Korpi sees her). C'mon, there is a whole thread about her agenda here. Yes, she never adressess young Koreans, Japanese or Americans in such interviews and articles, just those ones exclusively. And, more than that, she has the insolence to talk in someone's "interest" without even the basic decency to talk with them first, being interested in what they truly think, how they accept her agenda etc.
Or this: "For many people, it’s not interesting anymore,” says Korpi. “People miss watching emotionally mature women skate instead of girls". Let's speak only for yourself, Korpi, not for me or "many people". This fiction about "emotionally (and not so rarely physically) mature women" is getting to be truly annoying. I don't see a crowd of those allegedly mature women presenting their emotions on somehow higher level than 3A or others. If Kiira sees that this way that's her right for an opinion but what justifies her to present her opinion as a generally valid thing.
It's also funny, how precisely Guardian, a paper unflinchingly supporting the idea of women serving in the army, doing space exploration and probably working as coal miners as well is suddenly concerned by the idea of quad jumps in figure skating
I say, if Kiira aspires to be taken at least partially seriously, than her duty is to speak with those who are object of her interest first before making serious conclusions and blaming someone publicly. She never did that and so far I haven't seen any effort in doing so.
In other news, some ultra c skills from Russians lately, there's so many it's hard to keep up! These videos are all from the Boss T channel on Youtube
Varvara Kisel, JGP eligible 2020-21: 3A and 4S+3T: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNCI9vHm8Bc
Veronika Zhilina, JGP eligible 2022-23: 3A and 4T (also has shown 4S): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOrFDv0Pq18
Anastasia Guliakova: GP host spot candidate (who got host spot this season?): 3A+3T: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTp8C3s-cVA
So now feel free to add but the full list of Russian ladies that have triple axel or quad:
Alexandra Trusova: 3A, 4S, 4F, 4Lz, 4T
Anna Shcherbakova: 4Lz, 4F
Alena Kostornaia: 3A
Elizaveta Tuktamysheva: 3A, 4T
Kamila Valieva: 4T
Maya Khromykh: 4S
Sofia Akatieva: 3A, 4T
Elizaveta Berestovskaia: 4T
Sofia Samodelkina: 3A
Veronika Zhilina: 4T, 4S, 3A
Varvara Kisel: 3A, 4S
Kiira has absolutely addressed Americans and others, although not in skating.
But it doesn’t fit in with the agenda of “oh let’s attack Kiira because she is so anti-Russian and she is so prejudiced and she is this and that”. And in order to promote that agenda, mocking Kiira. Oh well.
That does nothing to disprove her statements :disapp:

Veronika is actually eligible in the 2021-2022 season! Her and Akatieva and Berestovskaia will debut together.
Oh yes I was mistaken, Nika will make her debut in the Olympic year just like Sasha Trusova. But then why wasn't she at jr nationals, was she injured like they said on instagram? To me Nika is just a mini Sasha 2.0 She's got the look, the amazing 4T, the 4S, the ankle scratch on the landing (that Sasha got rid of, hopefully Veronika will too) The pantsuit, Sia music....her skating skills are quite similar if you go back to when Sasha was that age, the straddle jump, and of course the iconic cantilever. Though I will say that personally my favorite of the four big novice names this year (Akatieva, Zhilina, Berestovskaia, Samodelkina) Samodelkina is my favorite despite the lack of quad (which I'm sure she's working on) because her interpretation and everything about her jumps besides the strange takeoff posture is just so effortless and beautiful.

There's an interview on The Skating Lesson which I know has a reputation for being biased against Russia (and there is a reason for it) but in it Kiira actually talked about how when she came to America there was this culture of pushing through injuries and such. Ther eis more attention on Eteri and the Russians, but to be completely honest it is her girls who are winning the olympics, sweeping every single competition, doing amazing elements at 15, but then consistently, one generation after another, faltering with injury and failure of technique before they develop into a woman's body. Now I know that growth is a struggle, and that in certain cases it signals the end of a career and that injuries happen elsewhere too but there is a reason for the concern. Now that's not to say that Eteri is not an amazing coach who produces amazing skaters because there is simply no way to deny that. The attention is on her becuase it's her that we hear most about, and her skaters that are dominating the world

Its not easy to break Tutberidze's pets. The planet-wide issue had been enlisted.
Pardon me but who in the god's name gave you that authority ? How about minding your own business?
As I say, if she would ever speak with the girls, than I may be interested, but those "distant comments" in fact look like "Korpi's project".
