13 is not a common age for most physical puberty changes, physical changes happen between 15-17 even later for people training as athletes.

Yup, and a growth spurt in height is hard to adjust to but becoming a woman, getting new curves and gaining weight is the hardest thing of all to dela with, which is why especially if it comes in spurts and genetically you are taller or more curvaceous, it could put an end to high level skating

Of course it will be difficult for some athletes to get back into competition form (and others maybe not so much) and that's upsetting. On the bright side, think of all the lingering injuries that may get the chance to heal! Athletes could also use this opportunity to build their strength, flexibility, get into new hobbies(while quarantined, of course), discover their creativity, grow in their personal and business lives, etc! All of these things could make them better skaters in different ways as well.

It depends on the sport and the approach taken to nutrition. The 13-14 age group in swimming is a point where a lot of girls clearly hit puberty and go from promising age grouper to international star. While peak form for women in the sport is generally in the 16-24 range, there are a good number of outliers like Mary Meagher who were even world record holders at 13. (It's also a sport where puberty is only seen as a negative for certain female breast stroke swimmers who rely on not Having Hips to make their technique work ala Amanda Beard, who pretty much had to relearn how to swim 'properly' in her late teens)

I didn't pull that number out of thin air, and while kids/teens training as athletes probably can delay the onset of puberty; Shcherbakova when she broke her leg was far more inactive than what she/anyone else can be right right now.

Muravyova will be an asset, looking to me innate artistic and having appeared so bright and cheerful those difficult competitions where nobody would touch her or wanted to be seen with her. Sof'ya also showed great bravery, determination and mindset in these competitions which were ever so important for her.
Wishing for Sof'ya to have found a safe haven in Khrustalniy, where she needs to work hard to correct the small deficiencies Ted Barton commented on: sloppy leg form and tension, which hampers her ultra-si attempts possibly.
Now there will be two Crystal Sonya's, and hopefully both continue their friendship with Sof'ya Samodelkina, despite training on different ice.

Now all the strong skaters of the Tatarstan team are training outside the Republic.
There are several schools in Kazan, at the children's level the competition is serious. Skating rinks are opening everywhere in other cities and villages of Tatarstan. There is a base for mass sports; for a good result, only centralized training for sports of the highest achievements is lacking.
A solution to the problem was recently proposed by the Minister of Sports of Tatarstan Vladimir Leonov. He prepared a project for the construction of a federal figure skating center. According to the plan, there will be several groups of single and pair skating. Nina Moser volunteered to supervise the center.
Arbuzov supports the idea of the Academy. “ To build an ice rink is half the battle. But if the trainers will work here, oversee, conduct seminars, then there will be no serious need to move to Moscow. ”
And right now, oddly enough, the best option for a Kazan girl to achieve success is to move to Moscow. After all, the story of Osokina is not unique. Tatarstan performs very well in younger age among girls and boys, but there is a large gap from the age of 13-14 years. The reason is obvious - skaters leave the Republic and change their sports registration.
The most striking example is Kamila Valiyeva. A pupil of Kazan coach Kseniya Ivanova has already reached the world level as a representative of the Moscow sports school “Sambo-70”, where Tutberidze works.
Arbuzova prefers not to compare her pupils with both Valiyeva and other girls, emphasizing that each has her own qualities. But she sees the potential of her athlete as very serious. “ Lisa can achieve anything she wants. There is a base ”, - says Olga. “ The main thing is that she works, and that her health does not disappoint. Because sport is a big burden on the body. When her health allows, when the desire remains - we will hear about Lisa at the highest level. ”
Osokina in the concluding season competed for Tatarstan, and Arbuzova was her official coach. But the agreement with Buyanova was only for one year. Under what conditions Yelena will work with Yelizaveta in the following is not yet clear.
To the question of whether Osokina will remain in the Tatarstan team, Olga cannot answer. The key point, of course, is financing. “ Lisa was born and raised in Kazan. So for me she is ours, a Kazan skater ”, says Arbuzova. “ We cannot resolve the rest of the issues, the Federation officials should. I don’t know how to solve them. ”

IMO very interesting and honest article on figure skating in the regions and the dilemma's facing stand out skaters and their trainers and parents. And Tatarstan isn't even a poor region.

Interesting interview, interesting last year when Sasha Trusova was asked how she felt when at competitions they introduced her as Aleksandra from Moscow when she is a girl of Ryazan, and they listed her as having accopmlished all of this under Moscow. But it is true that Moscow and St. Petersburg are the only prominent regions in igure skating, maybe Osokina and Valieva's foundations can bring funding to the Kazan region. Osokina is eligible for JGP next season, yes? She should be a contender for the jr national team.
