2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Even if you do not like it, it will still remain true.

P.S. Before start to bullying other skaters, remember that in return they can recall interesting stories.

According to the standards of this forum, nothing is true unless backed up by receipts, official statements, eyewitness accounts from verified identifiable sources and first hand knowledge. I'm not being critical because all of this was news to me until yesterday. It was quite a surprise out of nowhere given my experience with this forum over the years, but I'm not likely to forget going forward.

Interesting stories are nothing more than unfounded rumors, conjecture and speculation. Got it. Kind of wish I had known this earlier. It would have come in handy for the 2018/2019 season.

el henry, I checked the Greek constitution and doesn't have any paragraph about el henry. Also, I asked my cousin who is a lawyer if there is any law old or new during this period about el henry. He told me there is no such law as far as he knows. We have some prefectures which have zero cases and zero deaths. Great places with beaches, mountains archeological beauties, you are welcome to come and do whatever you want. Summer just started and we all know how magical a Greek summer can be.

I am heading to TripAdvisor.com right now! Will you be my translator and tour guide? Any open ice rinks in Greece? Asking for a friend.

I'm gonna give y'all a good tip: if you want to survive the off-season with your sanity intact, refrain from FS related material altogether. Spend time on other hobbies/ interests.

Beause at this point the thread is just :palmf:

Stay sane, Komrades! :agree:

Thanks. You too. If anything breaks my sanity, (assuming it hasn't already left the building) it will be people's less than safe attitude towards preventing the spread of this virus. I'm trying to be zen about it, but that is a process.

FS related material is my interest. One of them anyway. There are others, but it's up there with the favorites.

official statements should be coming from officials who never said anything allegedly denigrate about certain skaters!

Finley, you are safe too there is no mentioning of your name either in our laws/constitution. More than glad to be translator and guide, what kind of philoxenia would have been otherwise. Unfortunately no ice rinks only ice cubes. But if we had, I'm sure I would have got some calls or maybe one.

Sad to say, I am not a internationally well-known figure skater:sad21: I know that will come as a shock to you. So again, sadly, I would not expect any public figure in Greece, despite my Greek great great grandfather and the spousal unit who is the professor of Classics, to say anything about me.;)

I would expect that for public figures who are allegedly the focus of some alleged outcry by alleged people, so if this is an analogy, I disagree with it:biggrin:

And I have not yet had the pleasure of visiting Greece. Someday.....:)

Regarding the inclusion of Zagitova in the national team, I don't oppose this decision and I think that it is a fair decision but I still don't find it likely that Alina will actually come back to competition for this season. She mentioned somewhere that she landed quads so I hope we might see her again, otherwise it would be such a shame. I hope this isn't just an Adelina style comeback, though I wouldn't be surprised. Her technique needs some adjusting.

He said that Tuktamysheva, Medvedeva, Zagitova, Trusova, Kostornaia, and Shcherbakova will all be on the team. That leaves two open spots and two alternate spots, so probably Sinitsyna and Guliakova, with Samodurova and someone else like Gubanova or Konstantinova as alternates.

Yes, shocking news for Alina to be on the team. How do they let something that happens?

@eterilouisvuitton I believe TAT said Alina was no longer coming back, I think some people in this thread has to agree with your observation - after all, TAT said it.

I think it would be great is she came back! She is young and accomplished. She brings excitement and experience to the field. But that decision is entirely hers.

Who said what, when and how?

Thank you, Finley. And I’m glad to hear you and your family are doing fine.

Still what you are presenting are not facts. And I find it extremely distasteful to co-opt a pandemic, a tragedy for so many, as an opportunity for rumor mongering. Because unless there are actual facts, not conjectures that you have been citing, it is just that, rumor mongering. And I think for someone who claims to care so much about how the pandemic has affected many, you would have enough respect to not exploit in such way.

Thanks! Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Your words are very personal and hurtful. I also do not think they are fair. This is not a courtroom it is an online forum. We post our opinions, thoughts, hopes, fears, speculations etc. Can you back up everything you have ever posted on this board as a proven fact? If so, that's great. I'm impressed. But I don't post anything on this board for the sake of pleasing you or anyone else. Nor have I claimed in any of my previous posts that my opinion is a fact. Or that what I am posting is beyond dispute. Prove me wrong on anything you like. I'm not allergic to debate. Although there are some arguments I won't participate in.

As for bringing the pandemic into this, the entire reason this discussion exists is because of the pandemic. It is impossible to separate the two in any discussion of this particular topic. The reason the travel is a problem is because of the current global situation with the pandemic. Taking that a step further, the reason certain behaviors are problematic at this time is precisely because of the tragic consequences of this pandemic.

I did my absolute best to explain my position and make my point, at YOUR specific request. If it wasn't good enough for you that's not my problem. I also explained WHY I feel the way I do about it and why I don't like the behavior and attitude being exhibited by Evgenia on her own social media. If it turns out she was hacked or the posts and comments were faked, then I will apologize accordingly.

I can't comment on her motives, because I don't know them. I can speculate that they relate to skating, because obviously..... But for all I know she is there for an origami class or on a top secret life saving mission. (If that turns out to be the case let me apologize in advance.)

I'm not exploiting anything. This issue exists without my contribution. I did what everyone else here does, including you, and responded to a post. Then more posts. Then answered your specific questions to the best of my ability. It wasn't good enough. So ignore me.

For you to accuse me of a lack of respect for this pandemic when I post about someone else's perceived lack of respect for the seriousness of this pandemic is unfair. I wouldn't even care about this situation if I wasn't concerned about the tragic consequences of this pandemic.

When I realized that my words had been unclear and led some posters to believe I thought they didn't care about the virus, I was appalled and apologized immediately. Your post feels very personal and hurtful. I'll take anything else I need to say about it to PM, but I wasn't going to let your words stand without a response.

The minute Alina is dropped from the team I think the RusFed loses access to their percentage of the money for any new contracts she signs. Am I right about this?

I don't know the specifics most likely, or maybe because she is the world champion. On a serious note, I don't think that's official yet, probably the intention. But still, it's shocking to include Alina so many nightmares will come back.

:thank:

Maybe someday.... Greece is a dream for me. And it would be lovely to meet you in person after all this time posting together. :)

I know right? She really just needs to rest.....

:gaah: :bang:

It's ok, whatever happens we will get through it. :ghug:

Is your comment sarcasm or a typo?

With the exception of Shcherbakova/Trusova/Kostornaia, Zagitova was the best female skater for the Russian ladies last year in terms of results. Until she tells them she doesn't plan on competing next year, does the paperwork for her retirement or her results have been surpassed by 5 other skaters then they would be ridiculous to not include her on the national team.

@Finley - without dragging this thread further off topic, I think I need to clarify - what I said are my opinion of the discussion that was transpiring. I stand by them. I regret that they hurt you. I do not engage in personal attacks and have no appetite for them. Again, well wishes to you!

The selection of athletes and division over the primary, secondary and tertiary teams is probably secret, without public minutes. But the motivations would be most interesting since some athletes are not without 'remarks'.

If FFKKR sticks to its December 2019 revised criteria, the choice will still be hard.

Will they keep some older skaters 'in reserve' in case something happens to the Aces? On the primary list or on the secondary?
Will they really give young storming talent the chance to prove themselves on the big ice at first opportunity? Here Sinitsyna really did her chances no good with making (careless?) errors the last couple of big events, otherwise she'd be a lock IMO.
Will the 2022 Olympic Season already cast its shadow in advance?

Of course, like Kogan explained, everything depends on the ISU calendar, for most of ISU's federations will resume training and domestic competitions as soon as their relative situations allows. When there will be no 2020/21 calendar, why need a full team?

Let us all hope for the best.
