2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Sasha hinted in her last interview during quarantine that wants to try different things. Maybe she thinks she can find that with her new coaching team. I wish Sasha all the best :) I have no doubt that she will continue to surprise and amaze us.
I would look forward to see a program in the style of her 2017 SP. Modern music really suited her well and maybe a more softer program, where she can explore her more lyrical and softer side, which we could see a hint of at the ice show a few months ago

You can all imagine my surprise when I saw there were like six new pages in this thread

Well, I wouldn’t have chosen Plushenko for Sasha and Rozanov. Although it must have been quite the deal if both of them agreed to go. Maybe Plushenko promised private ice time, so she doesn’t have to train with all of his little ones? Maybe better funding? I honestly have no idea. I can see why she would want to move, last season wasn’t her best and maybe she realized that she needed a change. Her ultimate goal is olympic gold, so changing coaches during the olympic season would not be ideal. I wish she would have gone to Raf, but that would be very expensive and with the virus, moving there would take a while. I hope that this coaching change works out for Sasha!!

On a side note, all those naysayers who predicted that Aliona and Alina would leave Eteri were all proven wrong today.

Plushenko said himself he finds his promising skaters very good sponsorships, he has rich friends and connections, so I’m sure the money will be pouring.
And I think he fixed the ice situation and now they have a proper rink. So... let’s see, I have my fingers crossed for it to turn out well for Sasha.

I honestly can’t say I’m surprised. When rumours started circulating during the season I assumed it would be Sasha who would leave as she has the least to lose. She has all of her quads (apart from the loop) and she has the triple axel. She doesn’t need team Eteri anymore and it should hopefully do her mental health some good to not have to compete with Anna and Alyona on the daily. I wish her the best of luck.

why would she not need team Eteri anymore just because she has landed/competed almost all quads? Sasha may be an exceptional jumper, but she is not a master of the sport as a whole yet. she was making progress and on her way with Eteri, not to mention Anna and Aliona were excellent motivators not only in jumping, but artistry even moreso. she won't have that with Plushenko, she will be in a league of her own with no internal competition. this may be good for some, but bad for others. we have no idea how this will affect Sasha.

If Sasha feels she is not getting enough attention, then she'll definitely receive the star treatment over at Plushenko's.

LOL, but if she lets Plyushchenko's rub off on her, she will loose my respect. And there is a chance of this, adolescents her age are trying to establish themselves, try to find out who and what they are. Looking for examples in people they want to emulate.

There are certain traits in Aleksandra's character that are susceptible to manipulation by adults with their own agenda.

I'm not bashing him when I'm saying that Sima's and Nastya's leaving him was surrounded by not very nice things (from his side) and that some of his recent comments were very disrespectful to other coaches (and not just Eteri).

Also, to be honest, so far his biggest success (apart from Nussnacker on Ice) as a coach is Katya Ryabova.

I don't remember about Sima. She left it because she was alone in Moscow and at the Academy and she missed her family. Right?
Tarakanova is another question, but you wasn't there you can't decide what is the whole truth.. Maybe I have more informations because I have connect with those women who can go to Academy( the heads of Plush' Russian fan club and can watch the practices many times.) They didn't like Nastya's behavior when she trained there. But I finished this theme. I wasn't there, too. :sarcasm:
I love Nastya's skating and I follow her everywhere.:luv17:! I want to see her on the Russian team.!! She left the Academy and she has no money to skating, because she lost her sponsor. All of the talented students of Academy has sponsor because of Plush's influence and friends. Nastya left the Academy In April(I think), and the Academy started to work in a well-sized ice rink in May. Was that a good decision from Nastya? I don't think.

I disagree. A guy with hardly two years of coaching experience won Moscow's and then Russian Novice Championships with Sofia Titova. If you know anything about level of competition in that group age in Russia, you have to be impressed by this.

Are you actually suggesting team Eteri has ‘mastered’ the sport? I don’t think it’s fair to say any of the athletes are ‘masters’ of the sport. But I do think it definitely won’t do her harm to have the opportunity to train under a little less stress. You can be aware of your competition without feeling absolutely suffocated by it. She doesn’t need team Eteri because she has achieved under them exactly what she intended to. Your opinion does not change that. No amount of Eteri fairy dust will make Sasha an artistic skater. She has decided to move somewhere where she hopes to have more training input and less competition. That is a fair choice for her to make.

Sasha's chances were always slim against all the rest of girls. Now they are just 50% slimmer. Not a big difference between little numbers.
How so?
You're talking about a girl, who executing all her planned content, wins everywhere against everybody.

But the point is we all thought she would win everything coming into senior but instead besides the grand prix events she hasn't won , not when she did go again st Anna and Alyona in the same competition. She hasn't won grand prix finale, she hasn't won Russian championship and she hasn't won euros, mabye she would have won worlds who knows. But to go from basically the favorite to the one that looses against the 2 others is certainly hard for a 15 year old girl. Weren't there rumors around the time of the euros that she would mabye leave if I remember correctly ?

no absolutely not, and i have no idea where in my post you got that from. nor did i say any other skaters are masters either, only that they excel in areas that Sasha can learn from (and vice versa). you in no way shape or form need to be a 'master' of any sport to coach it. you need to have experience.

how do you know what her intentions were under Eteri? has Sasha shared what she hoped to master while being her student, or that she has achieved this goal? if so, please provide a link.

Well you kind of did suggest that but whatever. I think the fact she left speaks for me in response to your last question.
