2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

Interestingly, Eteri has disappeared under radars for almost a month now.

It's one thing she didn't post anything on her IG/VK,but even rumors aren't heard about her (apart of supposed visit to states).
 
Careful with the bashing of Plushenko.

Kamila is a different case, she has just recodered from injury before JGPF and according to her own words she had to persuade Eteri to allow her to start there at all. Having no quads was partially a safety precaution, partially I doubt it would be possible to regain them so fast. But at junior nationals and junior worlds Kamila had her quads back.

Oh yes I realise that which was why I thought it was a great layout and decision by the team given Kamila's situation.

That in turn puzzles me when they kept rolling out the 5 quad prgrams for Sasha when she wasn't doing too well with them.

Anyways! Just muling!

Yes Sergei leaving is shocking but he's young and he'll probably have more responsibility at evgeni plushenko is academy than he did with EGs group.
I hope this does not backfire on Sasha.

I don’t think so. These young novices are children still conditioned to do as they are told, not think and decide for themselves over matters they don’t comprehend. They will manage all right, but one has to wait how many other parents might fall for Plyushchenko’s ‘promoting’ of Titova? Mrs Kostyleva blamed Rozanov for messing with her daughter's chances. Rozanov apparently has a 'project' in Parsenova, will this young girl move over to Plyushchenko's together with Rozanov? Will Kostyleva join again under the illuminating prospects and inspiring leadership of Plyushchenko?

Aleksandra is of the age to know, think and reason about these things herself, and still young enough to quickly and easily adapt to new authority, circumstances and surroundings. She’ll be OK too, depending she doesn't have to drown herself in misery, because hate and worse will come her way for sure.

Depending on how she left, what instructions/orders she will be given regarding her behaving in sight of her former rink mates, what her parents tell her to do or leave, the relationship between the formerly Awesomely Amazing Aces will be redefined.

They perhaps will not be 'mates' sharing competitive trainings and competitions between themselves anymore, but are now real competitors on and off the ice, for media attention, endorsements and sponsorships. Certain circles are longing for this and will create any kind of drama out of the slightest gesture, glance or perceived signs.

Here, I doubt Aleksandra can manage alone against Alina, Alyona and Anna.

But no doubt Rudkovskaya has the contacts in show buzz, vicious yellow pages, gossip magazines and entertainment circles to make certain things happening for Aleksandra in the glossies, competing with her former mates for attention. Hopefully, the Tutberidze skaters remain the more decent, wiser and smarter party.

Mr. Vyacheslav Trusov, shrewd self made businessman may have gotten it right ...

I remember that there were interviews shared here a few months ago where Sasha said that she landed the 5 Quad layout many times in practices and that this was the reason why they attempted it in competitions.

I'm not bashing him when I'm saying that Sima's and Nastya's leaving him was surrounded by not very nice things (from his side) and that some of his recent comments were very disrespectful to other coaches (and not just Eteri).

Also, to be honest, so far his biggest success (apart from Nussnacker on Ice) as a coach is Katya Ryabova.
 
Sasha's chances were always slim against all the rest of girls. Now they are just 50% slimmer. Not a big difference between little numbers.

All will depend now on Aleksandra's resilience, perseverance, solidity and depth and strength of her character. The choice has been made for her, over her, perhaps a little with her, and that's it.

We can only keep supporting her and not hate her for this choice that was probably made with her best interests in mind.
 
I think this was a good decision on Sasha's part. I'm hoping we'll get to see better programs from her, since Plushenko's programs have usually been pretty good (especially Konstantinova's February), and her early programs with Volkov in season 16-17 were actually really enjoyable, for us and Sasha. If Rosanov is moving with her, I feel more confident that Sasha won't deteriorate too badly in terms of shape. I mean I think all athletes are going to deteriorate anyways because of quarantine. Rosanov coaches the novices and we all know how many novices have gotten quads under him so, I don't think Sasha will loose hers at all. If Sasha feels she is not getting enough attention, then she'll definitely receive the star treatment over at Plushenko's.

February wasn’t made under Plushenko, it was made by her previous coach. Stasya just changed her coaches, so she didn’t have any new programs (that we’ve seen) under Plushenko yet.
I’m sure she will receive a lot of attention, however Plushenko used to say that “he’s rebuilding Sakhanovich’s technique” and that he’s going to make her do quad sal and quad toe. Same with Tarakanova. He was bold on his promises, but then they didn’t quite come true and when both left after a short amount of time with him (1-2 years), he blamed Sakhanovich of ... her asking financial help (putting it nicely), and that Tarakanova wasn’t behaving well (putting it nicely).

I will support Sasha no matter what, but I honestly think that her choice isn’t the best one. :(
But I agree, Rozanov being there with her gives me hope, I hope that he can help her achieve more success in the upcoming season.
 
After seeing what happened with Anastasia Tarakanova, I'll admit I was surprised to see Sasha switching to Plushenko. Seeing Rozanov move to the rink too makes a bit more sense to me, actually.

I'll never forget first discovering Sasha on the JGP in 2017, when Ted Barton couldn't help but gasp with awe at her exquisite 3F-3Lo, and when she landed the 4S (albeit UR) at her first JGP event. I won't forget her determination to add the quad the entire season and the joy that topped her season at 2018 Junior Worlds. I couldn't watch live, but was so excited. Sasha's always been a fierce competitor, pushing boundaries and never satisfied with "good" knowing it could be "best." I admire her fighting spirit, her athleticism, and her authenticity to who she is.

While I'm sad she's leaving Eteri, I can see why she might think she needed to. Without Worlds, we didn't get to see redemption from Sasha after the disappointment of Russian Nationals and Europeans. I'm sure she's disappointed, especially because we saw her land all the quads perfectly in practice. While I wouldn't have picked Plushenko as my first choice to be her new coach (more like Davydov, for me), Plushenko does know the quads. Hopefully he can help her show the world how incredible of an athlete she is, and help her to climb atop podium after podium.

Though she's no longer at the same rink as Aliona and Anna, they're still competing with each other, still the dominating trio, and still revolutionizing ladies' skating as we know it. I hope that we see wonderful performances from all the girls next season, and that they're all proud of what they accomplish :pray:

I don't think I know enough to comment on Sasha's decision and how it's going to work out for her, but I can certainly say one thing: Plushenko become a full time player on Russian coaching scene.
When Tutberidze group accused him of luring Alina, I thought it's bs, as he wouldn't dare or had such strength. Now I see I underestimated him.

Also, wondering how will it affect the dynamics between AAAA (AAA, AA?)? Very weird situation for all the girls two years before Olympics...

In all seriousness though, I'm really not surprised that Sasha left. Before the season even started, she was considered to be the unstoppable golden girl who would run away with all the major titles and that didn't happen. It had to have been extremely disappointing for her. I'll admit that I wasn't the biggest fan of her skating this season, but seeing Sasha Trusova cry is something that I never want to see again. If she feels that Sambo is no longer the right place for her, then I think it was the right decision for her to leave.

I genuinely hope that this move works out for her and that we'll be able to see an improved Sasha next year :pray:
