2019-20 Russian Ladies' Figure Skating

I just read in another part of the forum that zillhina also changed to plushenko can anyone confirm this?

It's really really risky business. I think Plushenko will ruin a lot of careers. He cannot take his greatness as a figure skater and what made him great and put it in these kids. The coaching there is also not Top Notch by any standards in today's figure skating world. But he has a lot of money and compromise a lot of things which will attract parents like Sasha's parents. Her father sounds like he's in control and very demanding.

I certainly hope Veronika and her little sister have not gone to plushenkoos Academy. But if he talked to their parents and made promises and let them know how much money he has then it's possible.

On a side note I sure hope Sasha does not get the closet treatment like plushenkos son does. ;)

I disagree. A guy with hardly two years of coaching experience won Moscow's and then Russian Novice Championships with Sofia Titova. If you know anything about level of competition in that group age in Russia, you have to be impressed by this.

Do not overestimate it. At this age level this says only a little. Many today's top skaters were somewhere in the middle of the starting field at the age of cca 10-12. Yes, Titova has defeated Rubtsova (which caused that of four titles at the russian novice championships Eteri's team won "only" three, shame ), but how this will keep in time? E.g. Veronika Zhilina was much less consistent a year ago when she came to Eteri than she is now and if you compare her with Titova (who is only half year younger) it's a big difference. I don't say Titova can't be a top skater under Plushenko, but I won't call that as somehow significant omen about how strong his school is.

Let's be real for Khrustalnii losing Rozanov is more important than losing Sasha.
But as a viewer i can't imagine Anna or Alena without Sasha next to them.
100% agreed.

Top athletes are very valuable, still naturally insecure asset, but losing top specialist is a bad sign from managing standpoint.
Plushenko made a dent in so-far untouchable winning machinery.

I think they can do without Rozanov. Although he did well with novices, they have a very nice woman who’s working with the little babies (4 year old), who are just learning to skate, I think she can rise to a challenge. There will be other coaches who would want to try working with Tutberidze too.

But Sasha! The dragon quad queen, our precious quadzilla, seems like a big loss for them from my point of view!

Of course they can. But a lot of juniors already used to work with him, i'm just afraid that more skaters will go to Plush because of Rozanov.

Rozanov worked there for what? 2 years?

Sure, it's a loss, a bad one at that, but without Rozanova, Khrustalny trained Yulia, Medvedeva, Alina, and 3A :sad21:

meanwhile if Trusova recaptures her best shape, Eteri will have serious problem on hand, at least, next season.

I don't remember about Sima. She left it because she was alone in Moscow and at the Academy and she missed her family. Right?
Tarakanova is another question, but you wasn't there you can't decide what is the whole truth.. Maybe I have more informations because I have connect with those women who can go to Academy( the heads of Plush' Russian fan club and can watch the practices many times.) They didn't like Nastya's behavior when she trained there. But I finished this theme. I wasn't there, too. :sarcasm:
I love Nastya's skating and I follow her everywhere.:luv17:! I want to see her on the Russian team.!! She left the Academy and she has no money to skating, because she lost her sponsor. All of the talented students of Academy has sponsor because of Plush's influence and friends. Nastya left the Academy In April(I think), and the Academy started to work in a well-sized ice rink in May. Was that a good decision from Nastya? I don't think.

You can apologize Plushenko as you like, but you won't change it was very nasty split.

Eteri's comment is calm, fair, and seems to be business-like, as usual. She has devoted her life to FS and her students, and seeing them leaving is always hurtful, no matter what. I respect and admire this strong woman!

They were already doing well before Rozanov joined the team, i bet at this point they saw how to teach quads to the newcomers (i still believe Sergei Dudakov does most of the job on that).

Eteri still has the best 2 skaters in the world: Kostornaya and Shcherbakova + Valieva-Usacheva-Khromykh and the others (Akatieva, Petrosian,...), they are still the leading group.

If anything this move will make Plushenko more relevant, and it will bring some exciting competition again between clubs for ladies FS in Russia, instead of just being all money goes to Eteri anyway. I think in a way Sambo70 needs competition between other groups as well.

From Nussknacker's translation, I got a different impression. Eteri seems to be saying that in her camp she can't play favorites or give one athlete special consideration over another. If other coaches can (becuase they do not have so many championship caliber students), well, that's just how it is.
Good athletes and good coaches will always receive invitations and get offered more favorable conditions.
I've never seen Eteri pointing to financial stuff, it's really telling sentence in my opinion.

What if, years from now, we realize that Eteri's biggest loss in 2020 wasn't Sasha or Veronika (or is this just a rumor?) or Sergei Rozanov, but...little Elena Kostyleva?

That is your opinion Plushenko was/is/will be a superstar of skating with many fans. The famous people can be criticised all the time. If he doesn't do anything he doesn't make mistake, the people the media doesn't make gossips and fake news on him. Everybody likes him! This is the famous people's destiny.

Finally I'm sure that would be better for Nastya if she didn't leave the Academy. That was a big mistake of her and parents.

None of the kind, one 'problem' is off Tutberidze and her team's hands. More time and effort to spend on the remaining Aces, perhaps an incentive for Alina to return, and an opening for a prospective skater to enter the top group? The leaving of Trusova will hardly have a detrimental effect on the group. Three is a crowd, and with having so many ace cards in play, a drop of one seemed inevitable.

When will ice become available again? When will domestic competitive season start again? When will international competitive season start again? All of this is still very uncertain well into 2020. Next year's World Championships are the goal to aim for when planning over getting your skaters ready. Ample time for all of the athletes and training staffs.

I suppose Mr Trusov is financially capable to support Aleksandra's full training expenses when she goes 'private' instead of state funded? Being wholly dependent on the Plyushchenko/Rudkovskaya empire doesn't seem like a smart move by a supposedly clever businessman because there is the risk of becoming enstrangled in ties you cannot unloose again. Unless this was the plan right from the start?

Maybe with Rozanov leaving, Mrs. Kostyleva decides to return her daughter to "Khrustalnyi"? :cheer2:

Any future scenes at the entry gate to the ice and in the K&C are going to be very interesting to watch, perhaps painful on some part.
I want to endure all this without grumbling as long as I can see Sasha shining again. One can only hope and pray.

I agree with you. I always defended her in this forum, she is special. This case didn't change my opinion.

Earlier this year to Plushenko:
"Your periodic attempts to buy, in the literal sense of the word, ready-made athletes, only interfere with our professional work. You did not manage to lure Alina."

To me, it is hard to decipher what "favorable conditions" means. I suppose it could refer to under the table money to a skater's family, or higher pay for a coach. Or maybe just to things like more personal attention on the ice, more specific help with particular aspects of the skater's skill set, etc.
